12/6: Friday Faves

-Your awesome 10 days of giveaway entries! The last one for this week will be up later today and the party will resume on Monday. Check in Sunday am for all of the winners for week 1! 🙂 You still have time to enter to win my favorite things goodie pack, Somethin’ Special fragrance oils, gorgeous and comfy leggings and holiday photo cards and gifts!

-A collection of Nelson Mandela quotes. The world lost a truly amazing man yesterday. While he is no longer here on this earth, he left behind a legacy of hope, peace and kindness <3

-Mocassin family. How adorable are those tiny mocs?! I can’t even.

Moccs

-Which Love Actually character are you? I got Juliet, but was kind of hoping for Aurelia 😉 Word to the world: the Pilot does a very nice impression of Billy Mack.

Crowded yoga class parody

-Reuinted with the breakfast cookie. IIIIIIIIIII will always love youuuuuuuuuuu…..

-The munchkin room!

Munchkin room

Last time I took Livi to the munchkin room at the base gym, she was a tiny baby, and we didn’t last very long. This time, I planned on getting a workout anywhere from 5-45 minutes, depending on how Livi was feeling, and figured we could give it a whirl and if it didn’t work out (<— pun) it was NBD.

The verdict? She had a blast! They have fun toddler gym equipment -like tunnels and houses- toys, magnetic doodle boards, etc. I got in a 40-minute treadmill workout -working much harder because I didn’t know how long we’d be there- and she started to cry when I told her it was time to go eat. (The key of getting out of the “we have to leave” tantrums: telling her to say “goodbye” to whatever it is and that we’ll see it soon. For some reason, it totally works. “Bye, park! See ya soon!” and now I jinxed myself for typing that)

As much as I love Scandal on the spin bike and my at-home weight workouts -so glad you guys liked the Frost HIIT workout!- it’s amazing to have another option and be able to take Livi with me.

Marie Forleo. I’ve been a fan of her for a long time, and her tips and insights are always helpful. She has a tendency of getting into my brain 😉 If you have a business and/or work in social media, I strongly recommend her videos– lots of awesome info for freeeeee.

This bag in teal. Santa, I’ve been good 😉 I’m really liking winky faces in this post for some reason.

-Fresh Balsam candles. Back in the day when I was going through a horrible breakup, I joked to my friends I’d end up being a candle lady (I like cats but could never see myself having more than one. I pictured myself lonely and surrounded by candles). I’m still a candle lady. I hoard them every year, and am somehow out again. Back to BBW…

Hostess gift ideas for all of those holiday soirees.

-The magic that is this preschool tapper.

-This mind-blowing photo studio.

-This hilarious Christmas wish list. The language is a little colorful, just as a head’s up, but I laughed with tears falling down my face for at least three minutes.

Any faves to share this week? Fitness events on the horizon? I’m doing a yoga workshop and the Pilot is running a MARATHON. He’s done a few before, but I’m sure he would love any of your comments of tips or encouragement 🙂

Have a wonderful day and I’ll see ya later with the last giveaway for week 1 and a new Family post.

xoxo

Gina

Tell the Pilot good luck on his marathon!! Tips of advice: stay hydrated before, during and after 🙂 I especially recommend coconut water or Pedialyte!

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2013 at 4:56 pm

      awesome, thank you!

  4. Michelle on December 6, 2013 at 11:29 am

I also love candles. I am obsessed with the Capri Blue candles that are sold in Anthropologie, especially the Volcano scent. It also makes my whole apartment smell like Anthropologie, which I love.

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2013 at 4:55 pm

      those smell AMAZING

Oh MY! Those baby moccasins are the CUTEST! I saw that article re: 13 things mentally strong people avoid the other day on FB – I thought it was very interesting. Good luck to the Pilot on his marathon this weekend! I bet he’ll rock it!

  7. Kate on December 6, 2013 at 11:44 am

I always love your posts which is why I’ve been reading for so long, but sometimes you write posts that make me laugh so much and feel like you just nailed it and this was one of them. You’re awesome and deserve to be reminded of it! xoxo

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2013 at 4:55 pm

made my day! thanks, kate 🙂

  8. Kristen on December 6, 2013 at 11:51 am

    • Totally agree with how you deal with the goodbye tantrum. We learned quickly to do that with our son and he’s cool with it.
    • I am also a crazy candle lady. In fact, just the other day I found an unused B&BW gift card from several months ago. My first thought was, “How have I not used this?!”
    • My advice for the marathon would be to stay well hydrated and fueled within a couple of days of the event. I’ve always heard how you fuel two days and the day before can really impact how you perform. Not sure if that’s true, but it sounds good to me. He’ll do great!

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2013 at 4:54 pm

that happened to me a few weeks ago, too! i found one in a bag in the closet and was like WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!
awesome tips- thank you! i think we’re going to try and go to bed early tonight. and if he needs a carb loader for moral support, i’m his girl, haha

  9. Jamie on December 6, 2013 at 12:13 pm

Happy Friday! I ran a marathon last Sunday 🙂 What Kristen says is true – eating well (yummy carbs), sleeping well and hydrating today and tomorrow will make a big difference. Also, thinking about Bama’s loss to Auburn gave me the angry fire to keep going through some tough spots. Roll tide forever!
    have a great weekend!

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2013 at 4:53 pm

hahah that is great motivation right there! we were so bummed… what a tough loss

I got Juliet too! That’s my friend Rachel’s character, I’m Natalie. We love that movie and watch it every year. We all have our own characters.

I am also on the search for a new mbmj bag for Christmas. I’m just having problems deciding which one I like the most.

  11. Cassie on December 6, 2013 at 12:22 pm

Loving the extra posts with the giveaways on top of regular posts 😀 And those little moccasins are so cute!

  13. Ashley on December 6, 2013 at 12:35 pm

I got natalie and I was cool with that. That bag on your wishlist is amazing!

      oh, i like natalie too!

  14. Sara @ LovingOnTheRun on December 6, 2013 at 12:50 pm

  15. Tracy on December 6, 2013 at 1:18 pm

Hi Gina! Somewhat unrelated to this post, but I’m ordering some Somethin’ Special gifts and I’m completely overwhelmed by the fragrance choices! What are some that you have tried and like? Thank you! Thank you!!

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2013 at 4:52 pm

i’ve only tried the sweet petals and i’m obsessed with it. i’ve heard so many good things about the other fragrances. i’m sure whatever you pick, the recipient will love it

  16. Miranda @ Lovely Wife Lovely Life on December 6, 2013 at 1:31 pm

OH MY GOSH. A girl in one of my classes today asked me who Nelson Mandela was… I almost punched her. On a different note, I love that idea of having a toddler play area right where the gym is for the parents to workout. Genius!

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2013 at 4:51 pm

WHAT?! i would have had to walk away.
      yes, it’s a pretty genius setup! 🙂
      xo

  17. Caitlin on December 6, 2013 at 2:02 pm

I adore that teal hobo bag! Definitely deserves a place on your wishlist. That’s great that you have a workout option outside the home where you can still take Livi. My mom loved being able to use Gold’s Gym’s free childcare when we were kids. Now the gym we go to has paid childcare and she always says she’s glad she doesn’t have any little ones to put there while she works out!

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2013 at 4:51 pm

when liv was tiny, i paid for childcare at the country club where i had a membership and she hated it. the ladies were so sweet, but she would scream and scream so after trying it twice, i stopped trying. it wasn’t worth making her miserable. i’m so glad i have a place that she enjoys now! 🙂

  18. Caroline on December 6, 2013 at 2:36 pm

That Christmas wish list! I died!

    • Kelly on December 6, 2013 at 2:49 pm

Me too! This guy sounds hysterical. Would love to go out for drinks with him!

  19. Lauren @ Sassy Molassy on December 6, 2013 at 2:49 pm

I was wondering if the pilot was running a marathon with all his long runs! Good luck to him!! Love the little slippers.

  20. Maria on December 6, 2013 at 3:26 pm

Good luck to the pilot with his marathon! I am going to the grande opening of Barre Bee Fit here in Milwaukee…the first Barre studio in Milwaukee 🙂 It looks like it’s going to be a good workout because unlike other barre studios they also have cardio intervals woven in, so I’m looking forward to a good sweaty workout!

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2013 at 4:47 pm

ohhhh! let me know how you like it!

  21. Sarah on December 6, 2013 at 3:29 pm

I got Karl. Is that bad? lol I guess I need to rent Love Actually now (how have I not seen that?)

That photo studio is freaking AMAZING. Can I go play in it please?! 🙂

My favorite posts are when you talk to yourself, because I totally do that too and it makes you so relatable. That and I just think you’re a doll.

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2013 at 4:47 pm

      thank you! <3
and yes, you need to see love actually!

  22. Sarah on December 6, 2013 at 3:45 pm

Where can I snag a pair of the moccasins you’re wearing? I’ve been searching for a pair!

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2013 at 4:45 pm

  23. Livi on December 6, 2013 at 4:01 pm

<3! i might do it again next week!

  24. Lauren @ The Bikini Experiment on December 6, 2013 at 4:36 pm

Love Actually is one of my favorites! It’s a Christmas tradition. Good luck this weekend with the workshop. I have to agree – that handbag is awesome.

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2013 at 4:44 pm

it’s one of my very favorites. right?! i’m not usually the kind of person who says “i want this for christmas” but that purse… i would like that very much haha

  25. Jess on December 6, 2013 at 4:39 pm

That is awesome Livi had fun! Gives you another workout option!

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2013 at 4:43 pm

yeah, i was so excited she liked it!

  26. Yaara Leve on December 6, 2013 at 6:53 pm

Have fun at your yoga workshop! I need to get to one again–it’s been so long. What kind of workshop is it? My faves are the juicy flowy and sweaty vinyasa ones that last like 3 hours–lol. They’re so therapeutic! And OMG that crowded yoga class is spot on!!!! I feel that girl’s pain–lol. Have a great weekend girl! Also could you share your treadmill workout you mentioned above? I’ve been trying to switch things up on my treadmill routine. Thanks

  27. Kathy on December 6, 2013 at 9:04 pm

That Love Actually quiz made me unreasonably happy…I love that movie! I ended up being Sarah which maybe says something about my social life…fortunately the boyfriend was Karl so maybe we’re a good match!

Umm, that Marc Jacob’s bag…think Santa might get a 2 for 1 deal??

  28. Kathy on December 6, 2013 at 9:09 pm

oh and little candle tip…West Elm has amazing ones…there’s one I call my “boyfriend” candle because it smells like you want a boyfriend to smell and they have one called Fresh Laundry which is delicious!

  29. Dominique @ Eat, Pray, Lift on December 6, 2013 at 11:18 pm

It’s so great when they love the child care. Looks like an interesting setup with the play area right there by the workout equipment.
