Happy Friday!
Today started off as one of those days, but thankfully has made a turnaround. Last night, I looked at the See Bride Run tips and got everything ready for the big run I was planning to do today (well, big for me: 5 miles). I got the coffee maker ready so my Tiramisu coffee would be waiting for me when I got up, set my clothes out, ipod, put a water bottle in the fridge and set out a Larabar to munch on the way.
I overslept. Standard. I haven’t been sleeping well lately and instead of getting up at 6:45 like originally planned, I woke up at 8:15! ARGHH. So I got ready, grabbed my coffee and bar, and decided to run on the treadmill at the base gym since it would be too hot for the trail.
I spilled coffee all over myself on the drive (don’t you love when that happens?) and when I got to base, the gym was closed. So instead of going to our other gym, I did something that sounded way better: went home and had a cookie. One of Megan’s macaroons:
I also put had two egg whites with a Laughing Cow and a lotta Texas Pete:
I studied for a little while, and before I knew it, I had a splitting headache. I just felt so blah and out of it (and certain hormonies were messing with me on top of it), which bummed me out because I was supposed to meet my friend Jamie for lunch. I felt horrible to reschedule, but this girl needed a nap. I crawled on the couch with the puppies and fell asleep to Mrs. Doubtfire (does anyone else LOVE that movie?? Hahah I love when it’s on TV)
When I woke up, I felt so much better. And I was ready for lunch
I had a whole wheat pita, openfaced with leftover roasted ratatouille veggies, 1/3 chicken breast and goat cheese. Baked for 10 minutes at 375, the pita was crispy, the cheese was melty and it was glorious.
Up close:
I chilled with the hubby for a while (he’s loving this day off work!) and had a snack a couple of hours later (sorry for the weird pic! It’s 1/4 plank, 1/2 cup plain fat free yogurt, 1/2 very small nanner and a small nectarine)
I was so stoked when a package arrived for me: the Polar F6 Heart Rate Monitor I ordered yesterday!!! Whoo hoo!
(Pink was the obvious color choice for me
)
Snazzy:
After getting this, I was so ready to hit the gym and try it out! Maybe it was destiny that the base gym was closed this morning
I just needed my HR monitor to get here!!

I’m loving my new little gadget
It will be great to have for teaching aerobics– especially when I start doing Zumba and Step next week.
For dinner, I made a spinach salad with the rest of the chicken breast (2/3) mushrooms, tomato, chickpeas and fat free Balsamic. I also ate the other half of the sad little nanner in the fridge and put some pb on it. The hubby had a big ol’ Moe’s burrito
Well I’m off the pack because we’re leaving for Atlantic Beach in the morning!!! We’ll be there the rest of the weekend in a gorgeous resort that the hubby picked out. The puppies are staying at a pet resort with a bone-shaped pool. Pretty funny stuff.
I hope you all have an amazing Labor Day weekend!! I’ll miss you (and reading your wonderful blogs) but I’ll be back Sunday night or Monday morning!!!
Take care,
Gina

Sorry your morning was so terrible! Why does it seemt hat if one thing goes wrong, everything goes wrong? But cookies always make the world better… especially coconut cookies!
aww sorry your day didn’t start out so well. It always seems like when one thing goes wrong EVERYTHING goes wrong. At least it turned around for you!
Keep us posted on how you like the HRM. I’m thinking about getting one myself but haven’t made the plunge yet. I totally would get a pink one too!

Haha, I love how you decided to go home and have a cookie instead ;o) I’m sorry you weren’t feeling so hot – but I am glad the HRM perked you right back up! I am seriously gellin’ (jealous) of that pink color. Why didn’t I see that when I originally ordered mine?! I have the same kind, but in black – basic and boring!
Have a wonderful weekend at the beach! We will surely miss you, too – can’t wait to see what you come back with!

Hi Gina! This is my first time commenting, but I’ve been reading faithfully for a couple of weeks now.:) I just wanted to say that your blog is so unique and cute, and I always feel pumped to work out after I read your workout write ups! I also appreciate your workout pictures. SO helpful!
Your experiences also kind of hit home for me, because I often feel like my town is too boring and small. Reading your adventures makes it better, though- After all, what better chance to really focus on yourself in terms of fitness, nutrition, etc? At least that’s what I tell myself…
I want one of those heart rate monitors soooooo bad! I need to get one! Mrs. Doubtfire is an awesome movie! I love the random movies they put on tv on the weekends. Today for me it was Van Wilder
Glad the headache went away!
Cool HRM! I love that it’s pink!
I have that exact same travel mug!
