Running my little heart out

Helloooooooo :D How’s your Monday going?

Yesterday afternoon, before going running with the girls, I had an Emergen-C (works wonders and I love the little energy boost it gives me) and grabbed a Blueberry Z-bar to munch afterwards:

We ran a little over 4 miles and it was gloooorious. I split the Z-bar with Renee afterwards and loved this flavor. My friend Megan is at Whole Foods in Orlando right now, so I requested a couple more since the Blueberry and Spooky S’mores are no where to be found in V-town.

After the run, we went to our meeting at the squadron to find out exactly what’s going on. Mehhhh. All I’m going to say, is thank goodness they had food for us –it was the only good thing about the meeting. There was a little cheese, grapes and meat platter, chicken wings and Triscuits. I had a few Triscuits (the rosemary garlic flavor), a bunch of grapes and a few little blocks of cheese. I didn’t have my camera with me, but not sure I would have taken a pic if I did.

When I got home, my appetite was in a funk (rightfully so), and the only thing that sounded good was a PB and J on tortilla. So that’s what I ate:

I watched Desperate Housewives (did you SEE IT!?! I loved it) and realized my severe protein deficiency for the day. To try to make up for it (a little), I had 1/4 cup light Ricotta with 1/4 scoop protein powder.

Check out Viesa with her new vampire bat toy (Bella got a pumpkin):

She held that thing hostage all night last night.

I crashed out and woke up early this morning so I could take the puppies on a long walk before I got started on the homework grind.

I had 1/2 cup fat free plain yogurt with 1/2 scoop protein powder and a crumbled chocolate chip Z-bar and some Vanilla Biscotti coffee:

The puppies and I walked the base trail for 40 minutes (a little over 2 miles) and then came home.

I studied for about 2 hours (finally getting into a school routine.. almost halfway through the semester… so much has been going on), and had an apple with a Laughing Cow wedge for snack:

I really liked this cheese on the apple– I like Laughing Cow on almost anything (!) but the sweet and savory combo, plus the protein and healthy fat addition to the apple was a bueno choice.

I’m about to leave to meet with my group for a project, back home home change and grab a snack, then off to spin and Zumba.

Brings back fond Cinnabon memories:

Sorry it’s impossible to read, but it’s cinnamon roll flavored. I’ve already requested a new camera for my b-day ;)

Hope you have a wonderful day and I’ll be back tonight for more homework, Dancing with the Stars and to comment away :D

Take care,

G

The bottom sentence was supposed to go above the Larabar but it won’t let me move it :/ I’ve gotta go, so it’s staying there!!!

Yesterday afternoon, I had a PB & J "foldover" with some baby shower fruit and zucchini for lunch:

After I ate this, I got some bad news. Obviously I can’t go into what it’s about, and thank goodness everyone is safe (which is the most important thing) but things aren’t going to be happening the way we’ve expected or planned. As a major type A person, I hate not having control over what’s happening to me (which has gotten much better since I’ve been married to a military guy) but I was devastated. I just want him to be home more than anything.

When I’m upset, I’ll do one of two things: work out or nap (talk about extremes, right?), I attempted the latter, which didn’t work out because my mind was racing and frantically searching for a solution that doesn’t exist, so I put on my Asics and gym wear and hit the base trail.

I did 5 miles in 44:54. Not a shabby way to get out my negative energy and when I was done, I walked around for 5 minutes to cool down and felt so much better. Kinda funny, but there was a girl running the trail when I was cooling down, and I could hear her singing in the woods. She was busting out and actually had a gorgeous voice. Her song: U + Ur Hand by Pink.

After running, I came home and had a little more fruit:

And an Emergen-C (these things really work- today my throat feels 100% better):

I met my friends AJ, Dusty and Renee at the new sushi place for dinner.

We got the standard cups of miso soup (which had noodles in it that I didn’t eat) and salad (I love the ginger dressing):

For dinner, the 4 of us split a sushi boat. I was kind of worried because the chef chooses what to put on the boat and I thought there would be a lot of rolls (I don’t eat white rice). It was almost all sashimi and nigiri! The fish was so fresh and delicious and there was a glorious mix of salmon, tuna, some kind of white tuna (?) and only one roll on the entire boat. I was stoked.

AJ and Dusty (the soon-to-be newlyweds) framed by the giant sushi boat:

I didn’t take a pic of my plate but I had a fabulous mix of everything. It was delicioso.

After dinner, we decided to go out for margaritas and considering the day I had, I decided to make an exception to my "one drink night per week" rule and have one of these bad boys:

new pics 226

I also had some chips and salsa (I never touch the chip bowl) but like I said, yesterday was the exception.

It was really good to get out of the house and hang out with friends and today I woke up feeling so much better and ready to handle whatever the military throws at us.

For b-fast I had overnight oats with chocolate protein powder and a little plank: (and coffee)

new pics 218

I went to the gym to do the weights I didn’t do yesterday and a little bit of cardio (I’m going running with the girls later today).

Biceps and Triceps

Elliptical Cross train 2 program, level 5, 30 minutes
Triceps extension machine 50 lbs, 3 sets of 12
Cable bicep curls 30 lbs, 3 sets of 12
Single arm cable tricep press 20 lbs, 3 sets of 12 on each side
V-rope hammer curl 30 lbs, 3 sets of 12
Supine Triceps extension 5 lbs, 3 sets of 10 on each side
21s 10 lbs, 3 sets of 10
Stretching 5 minutes

Total time: 53 minutes

When I came home, I made an egg white burrito for protein replenishment:

-2 egg whites

-3/4 diced tomato

-hot salsa

-salt, pepper, cumin and garlic powder

-whole wheat low carb wrap

-Light Laughing cow

new pics 227

I couldn’t wrap it up without being a disaster, so I ate the eggie part with  a fork and then the cheesy tortilla. It was scrumptious.

The puppies and I went to PetSmart for their weekly bones, toys and treats and I did a little hw.

For lonchi I had grapes, zucchini and peanut butter (which I thought would taste as good as the carrots and peanut butter. It didn’t), and a little bowl of leftover bridal shower whole wheat pasta salad.

In a couple of hours we’re going to go run 4 miles, so I figure this will have plenty of time to digest before then. I hate running on a full stomach but I definitely want to get in a sufficient amount of calories and nutrients beforehand.

After the run, we have a meeting at the squadron. Should be interesting….

I hope you’re all having a wonderful Sunday. I’ll be catching up on your blogs during Desperate Housewives!!! I’m beyond stoked for the season premiere.

Have a great afternoon.

xoxo,

G
