Yesterday afternoon, I had a PB & J "foldover" with some baby shower fruit and zucchini for lunch:
After I ate this, I got some bad news. Obviously I can’t go into what it’s about, and thank goodness everyone is safe (which is the most important thing) but things aren’t going to be happening the way we’ve expected or planned. As a major type A person, I hate not having control over what’s happening to me (which has gotten much better since I’ve been married to a military guy) but I was devastated. I just want him to be home more than anything.
When I’m upset, I’ll do one of two things: work out or nap (talk about extremes, right?), I attempted the latter, which didn’t work out because my mind was racing and frantically searching for a solution that doesn’t exist, so I put on my Asics and gym wear and hit the base trail.
I did 5 miles in 44:54. Not a shabby way to get out my negative energy and when I was done, I walked around for 5 minutes to cool down and felt so much better. Kinda funny, but there was a girl running the trail when I was cooling down, and I could hear her singing in the woods. She was busting out and actually had a gorgeous voice. Her song: U + Ur Hand by Pink.
After running, I came home and had a little more fruit:
And an Emergen-C (these things really work- today my throat feels 100% better):
I met my friends AJ, Dusty and Renee at the new sushi place for dinner.
We got the standard cups of miso soup (which had noodles in it that I didn’t eat) and salad (I love the ginger dressing):
For dinner, the 4 of us split a sushi boat. I was kind of worried because the chef chooses what to put on the boat and I thought there would be a lot of rolls (I don’t eat white rice). It was almost all sashimi and nigiri! The fish was so fresh and delicious and there was a glorious mix of salmon, tuna, some kind of white tuna (?) and only one roll on the entire boat. I was stoked.
AJ and Dusty (the soon-to-be newlyweds) framed by the giant sushi boat:
I didn’t take a pic of my plate but I had a fabulous mix of everything. It was delicioso.
After dinner, we decided to go out for margaritas and considering the day I had, I decided to make an exception to my "one drink night per week" rule and have one of these bad boys:
I also had some chips and salsa (I never touch the chip bowl) but like I said, yesterday was the exception.
It was really good to get out of the house and hang out with friends and today I woke up feeling so much better and ready to handle whatever the military throws at us.
For b-fast I had overnight oats with chocolate protein powder and a little plank: (and coffee)
I went to the gym to do the weights I didn’t do yesterday and a little bit of cardio (I’m going running with the girls later today).
Biceps and Triceps
| Elliptical | Cross train 2 program, level 5, 30 minutes |
| Triceps extension machine | 50 lbs, 3 sets of 12 |
| Cable bicep curls | 30 lbs, 3 sets of 12 |
| Single arm cable tricep press | 20 lbs, 3 sets of 12 on each side |
| V-rope hammer curl | 30 lbs, 3 sets of 12 |
| Supine Triceps extension | 5 lbs, 3 sets of 10 on each side |
| 21s | 10 lbs, 3 sets of 10 |
| Stretching | 5 minutes |
Total time: 53 minutes
When I came home, I made an egg white burrito for protein replenishment:
-2 egg whites
-3/4 diced tomato
-hot salsa
-salt, pepper, cumin and garlic powder
-whole wheat low carb wrap
-Light Laughing cow
I couldn’t wrap it up without being a disaster, so I ate the eggie part with a fork and then the cheesy tortilla. It was scrumptious.
The puppies and I went to PetSmart for their weekly bones, toys and treats and I did a little hw.
For lonchi I had grapes, zucchini and peanut butter (which I thought would taste as good as the carrots and peanut butter. It didn’t), and a little bowl of leftover bridal shower whole wheat pasta salad.
In a couple of hours we’re going to go run 4 miles, so I figure this will have plenty of time to digest before then. I hate running on a full stomach but I definitely want to get in a sufficient amount of calories and nutrients beforehand.
After the run, we have a meeting at the squadron. Should be interesting….
I hope you’re all having a wonderful Sunday. I’ll be catching up on your blogs during Desperate Housewives!!! I’m beyond stoked for the season premiere.
Have a great afternoon.
xoxo,
G
