Helloooooo! How’s your day been? Any big plans for New Year’s Eve?
I got my Pei Wizzle last night!! Some of the fam wanted pizza, but the rest of us wanted Pei Wei and ended up getting that. I was stoooooked
I made a salad at home with some baby greens (which my nana brought over from TJs and was asking me if I ate my salad yet.. don’t you fret little nana, I’ve polished off the whole bag within a couple of days!) and chili sauce as the dressing
My meal from Pei Wei was a kid’s teriyaki shrimp with brown rice, no sauce, added veggies and steamed instead of fried. This is why I’m not a fan of eating out—creating my own meals from the menu is exhausting! I’d rather make it at home without having to explain it to someone
It was delish and SPICY (just how I like it)
I spent the night reading Eclipse had dreams about my pilot, who’s my own personal Edward Cullen… minus the vampire-ness of course
This morning I woke up nice and early for a base trail run!
I munched a Clif bar:
(This flavor was recommended by my aunt and I LOVE IT. I don’t usually like fruity bars, but this was outta control delicious and tasted exactly like a blueberry muffin)
I wasn’t feeling too motivated when I got to the trail, despite my new running tights, half-zip and beanie, but as soon as I saw that the trail was full of people running in their military PT gear, it lit a fire under me and I was so ready to leave them in the dust. I did 4.5 miles in 37 minutes, then walked around for 10 minutes and did some stretches. Perfect way to start the morning
We were meeting my nana for brunch, but I was starving when we got back, so I had this before I took a shower and got ready:
We went to my favorite Tucson b-fast spot, THE GOOD EGG, which is more like “The Extremelydecadentoutstandingscrumptiousblowmymind Egg” and the familia ordered this cinnamon roll:
With cream cheese frosting…… drool….. I resisted the urge to eat the entire plateful and only had one bite to taste it.
For my brunch, I had my usual Traditional Day Starter with two egg whites cooked in spray instead of oil, fruit instead of potatoes and a whole wheat pancake with no butter instead of the english muffin.
I totally wasn’t joking about how I create my own meals from the menu to make them Gina-friendly. I’m sure a lot of you do this too!
It was incredible!! After b-fast, we went to the mall, and I did not find ANYTHING at Victoria’s Secret semi-annual sale –guess I’ll be shopping online instead—and then came home and took a nap with my puppy while the madre and brother went to Kohl’s and Trader Joe’s.
When I woke up from my nap, I was ready for a snack, so I had a pear:
An almond butter filled cucaracha:
And a salad with a sprinkle of garbanzos and some Goddess dressing:
I hit up the gym for a quick upper body workout:
| Elliptical | Level 5, 5 minutes |
| Overhead shoulder press | 15 lbs, 3 sets of 12 |
| Compound row | 20 lbs each side, 3 sets of 12 |
| Cable chest fly | 10 lbs, 3 sets of 12 |
| V-triceps extension | 50 lbs, 3 sets of 10 |
| Lower back extension | 50 lbs, 3 sets of 12 |
| Total time | 35 minutes |
When I got home, the aroma of a delicious feast filled the casa.
My madre made a casserole with stir fry veggies, bok choy, mushrooms, scallops and shrimp with a roasted red pepper sauce and topped pasta with the stir fry and baked it with cheese:
She made me a separate cheese-free, pasta-free version:
It was aaaaaaaaamazing. Thank you madre!
After dinner, we headed over to my nana’s to see my cousins and received some disheartening news on the drive there. I don’t want to say what’s going on for privacy sake, but please keep my aunt in your thoughts. I love her like crazy and I know she’ll be ok because she has to be, but if you would please take a second and pray for her health, I would appreciate it so much. Good thoughts can go such a long way and I know it would help a lot.
ANYHOO,
after my nana’s we made a quick Whole Foods run and then came home.
I needed a little snackaroo when we got here, so I grabbed a snowman mugful of honey puffed wheat with soy milk:
Perfect.
Well it’s jammie time up in here, so I’m gonna get ready for bed and read a little. Tomorrow morning it’s zumba and pilates
Hope you’re all having a great night and I’ll see ya tomorrow.
xoxo,
Gina
Something to think- Time is going to pass, no matter what. You can choose to use time to your advantage and work hard to accomplish the goals you’ve set out for yourself and look back after 6 months and be proud of all that you’ve done. Or, in 6 months, you could be exactly where you are right now. I remind myself of that often when I’m lacking motivation to eat well or work out. Stick with it… it’s well worth it and if it were easy, everyone would do it. You can
