Hey everyone! Happy weekend! Hope yours is going swimmingly
This is gonna be a quickie because Megan will be here any second to cook an Indian feast with me.
Yesterday morning, I met my friend Ashley for a pilates pow wow and ate this before heading out:
For someone who usually isn’t a fan of white chocolate, Jenn has me HOOKED on these bars!!
When I got home, it was a cucaracha for snack:
I spent the entire day being domestic by cleaning and baking up a storm.
I stopped for a lonchi of AB and P on Ezekiel:
And my new favorite combo: APPLE AND GOAT CHEESE!
I went with Jeni and her friend Megan to Hizzle Lizzle (aka Hobby Lobby) and then my friend Megan (yup, there were 2 Megans) met the 3 of us at Lonestar for dinner.
I got my usual: grilled shrimp with no butter sauce, a plain baked sweet potato and veggies:
I also had a lovely glass of vino
When I got home, it was still pretty early and I decided to do a Dave Farmar podcast after reading about it on Jenna’s blog. IT WAS FREAKING AMAZING. I figured Jenna definitely knows her yoga, and if she said he was good, then he had to be—and it rocked my world. For the first time EVER, I truly enjoyed doing yoga and actually got an awesome workout from it! Thank you for the great recommendation, Jenna! I’ll totally be doing these podcasts more often!
This morning, I really wanted cereal for b-fast, even though it never fills me up. It just sounded so good.
I topped Whole Foods honey wheat puffs with 1/2 banana (ate the other half on the side w/ AB), goji berries, blueberries and 3/4 cup almond milk.
I hit up Wizzle for a few things, waited in line at the post office for an hour to ship 5 packages (macarooons are on the way, friends!) then had this for a snack:
Heather introduced me to these bars and I absolutely adore them. Kind of like a Larabar, minus the stickiness.
After that, I loaded up my iPod and Camelbak and drove to base for a long run. I did 9.5 miles and it was a doozy. I felt so victorious when it was over, though. I munched some Sports Beans after mile 6 and didn’t take a pic—they were delicious, though
When I got home, I was starving, but in a rush to let the puppers out, shower and meet my friends at the movies.
I tried another new goat cheese combo: cucaracha and goat cheese
It was surprisingly incredible. I’m starting to think goat cheese is good on anything
I also had a 1 egg, 1 egg white egg-stada with salsa
And popped a ton of popcorn and topped it with sea salt and nutritional yeast to sneak into the movies with me. I should have re-bagged it because the bottom corner had a hole in it and proceeded to sprinkle nutritional yeast at the bottom of my Chanel bag. Lovely. I cleaned it out, and still ate the popcorn of course
We saw New in Town and it was pretty cute. I’m not a huge Harry Connick Jr. fan –Patrick Dempsey should have been in it, haha—but it was funny and endearing.. and made me miss my pilot, of course. I’m so ready for him to get back here!! I can’t see scary movies while he’s gone because I have nightmares, and even the slightest bit of romance in a movie turns me into a giant mushball.
We went to Marble Slab after the movies and I got a small yogurt swirl with chocolate chips:
It was gloooooorious.
Well I’m off to make some Indian food with Megan!!! I’ll be catching up on your blogs in the morning! Hope you’re all having a wonderful weekend!
xoxo,
G

I’ll have to try it with apples!
Hey baby. Happy weekend to you too
Hope the indian cooking is going well! I love those Lunas too! Its the first Luna I have found that I really enjoy. They are pretty sweet but in a just right kinda way
Now I’m craving popcorn!!! Mmm
All of your eats looks so delicious. Thanks for endorsing the bars and the yoga. I am not a huge fan of white chocolate and I am really picky about my yoga, so your reviews were just what i needed.
9.5 miles! damn chicky, your rock!
and i have that luna but haven’t had it yet…maybe tomorrow; can’t wait!
Frozen yogurt is wonderful – yours looks great!
I totally got that same meal at Lonestar awhile back, it really was good!
Goat cheese and apples sound DIVINE!
Have fun tonight! Love that Ting-tings song!
You have got to get your hands on the WCMN Clif bar – diiii-vine!!
Glad the movie was good and have fun cooking your Indian feast tonight!
All that food looks sooo good!
I like that you added a song at the end of you post. A while back, you posted a workout playlist and I copyed it down…now I listen to that playlist all the time!! I think you should add your playlists in your posts more often!
Goat cheese IS great on everything! I never thought of putting it on apples, though! Wonderful idea! I really need to check out those yoga podcasts…I’ve heard so many wonderful things about them
great run!! and goat cheese is good on ANYTHING and EVERYTHING
hehe
oh, my comment the other day on training may have come across strange, but i’ve trained for a half and 10milers on 3x a week… you just make each one count! (long run, speedwork- tempo or intervals, and another low-med distance)
Wow, EVERYTHING looks fantastic – sweet potato, apple&cheese, yogurt (!), popcorn with nutritional yeast – YUM. I'm so glad you loved the yoga! Dave Farmar is great. Check out this other guy too – yogiwade.com. I wrote about him today.
I love that song! I feel like a Victoria’s Secret model on the treadmill when it comes on my ipod haha.
I just bought that bar! Can’t wait to try it now!!
Mmmm… Apples and goat cheese! That made me think of when I went to school abroad, and there was a little sandwich shop that had the best sandwich EVER- a baguette with watercress, sliced grapes and brie. Sooooo good. I highly recommend the combo.
I’ve definitely snick in popcorn before! It’s much better than the stale theater variety.
I’ve been enjoying the David Farmar yoga as well!
Hi Gina!
Thanks so much for the weight loss post the other day, it was very encouraging as I am trying to lose 25 of the 40 pounds (again) that I lost 5 years ago–which = my first question–
Any advice to help me to just do it? I've been trying to 'get started' for about 8 months now and it just gets more & more frustrating.
My other question is, if I have a very stiff/sore neck, swollen knee, and off-kilter thumb joint that I can't put pressure on, what can I do for exercise–any ideas?
Sorry for these kind of off-beat questions and thanks for everything that you do!
Amy
I hope to try the Farmar yoga if it is as great as you make it sound!
I wish I liked goat cheese, at least it looks wonderful!
Hope to see more of this Indian food cooking soon!!
oooh have fun with the indian food feast!
9.5 miles – woo hoo. Good job Gina! So glad you have your CamelBak and that you don’t have to snag any Juicy Fruit from other runners
I am dying to try one of those Dave Farmar podcasts. I miss yoga so much – waiting for an overstretched hamstring to heal
Agreed! Goat cheese does taste good on everything!
Apple and goat cheese – I can’t wait to try it!!
Seriously your long runs are so inspiring!
I have the urge to try Indian food, but am a little nervous. What would you suggest for a first-timer?

chocolatecoffeekitchen- that's so funny you said that– i think of the vs fashion show every time i hear that song!
hey amy- that's a toughie. maybe you feel discouraged because you're losing the weight for the second time. the only thing i can really say is that when you're ready and you really want to do it, you'll do it. until then be patient with yourself. one day you'll wake up feeling motivated and prepared to go for it (and stick with it) and you'll succeed. hang in there! as far as the exercise goes, since you have some injuries, i would recommend resistance band exercises. they're not as tough on your body and don't require you to put pressure on your palms since most exercises can be done standing or laying down.
hope this helps a little! BEST OF LUCK <3
hi kaneil-
and no matter what, make sure you order tandoori roti (whole wheat naan)– it's incredible
oh how i love indian food…
it really depends on what you like! if you eat chicken, the chicken curry is amazing and the chili chicken. if you want something that isn't spicy– the chicken korma is creamy with nuts and raisins and my mom loved it. my personal favorites are baighan bharta and channa masala
Hi Gina- I am long-time reader, but first-time commenter. I wanted to ask which certification programs you went through for PT, group exercise and nutrition and why you chose the one (s) you did? I am weighing the pros of several NCAA-accredited options, and wanted to see how you made the decision.
Thanks!
Gina,
Thank you SO much, that helps a LOT!
Amy
is nutritional yeast worth it? keep in mind my hatred for vegan cheese, vegan “hot dogs”, vegan “bacon”, etc.
is the taste actually cheesy or no?
Bummer about the messy popcorn!
Goat cheese is seriously good stuff. I had it in my salad last night.
I’m not a fan of white chocolate either, but I bought those clif and luna bars after hearing everyone rave about them.
dates and goat cheese, yum!! i think i will try that today
.
speaking of dates, you should make something with them and submit the recipe to the BSI contest (ending at midnight tonight)!! details are on my blog.
hope the indian food was delish (how can you go wrong with indian, really?)
I love the ting tings so much!! 9.5 miles?! You’re my hero – WOW! And I love how you ordered at Lone Star! clever clever!
I think it’s best just not to place limitations on goat cheese.
i LOVE that song! nice job on the run- go you!!
p.s. i love the idea of the banana sandwich over oatmeal. can’t wait to try it!
