Me gustan los huevos

To those of you who speak Spanish, feel free to snicker ;) I really do like eggs though! Hahah :D

Happy Tuesday! Hope you’re all having a great day!

Mine started off with me sleeping through the alarm. When it happens, the day always feels so frantic! So I’ve been playing catch-up all morning…

I did have some lovely oaties:

002

-1/2 cup old fashioned oats with vanilla brown rice protein, 1 tbs AB, crumbled ProBar, cinnamon, Stevia and WS vanilla extract (which I’m officially hooked on!)

I went to the gym for a little triceps, shoulders, chest and abs:

Elliptical Warm-up Cross country 2, level 5, 5 minutes
Dumbbell Upward Row 10 lbs each, 3 sets of 12
Overhead Dumbbell Triceps Extension 15 lbs, 3 sets of 12
Straight-bar press down 40 lbs, 3 sets of 12
Straight bar triceps press down 40 lbs, 3 sets of 12
Supine chest fly 5 lbs each, 3 sets of 10
Bosu crunch Body weight, 3 sets of 15
Chest press machine 35 lbs, 3 sets of 10
Hanging leg raise Body weight, 3 sets of 10

When I got home, I grabbed a Larabar and the puppies—I took them to the base trail for their walk.

003

We walked for about 30 minutes, and then drove home so I could get ready for work.

I snacked on an egg and 1 egg white with chipotle seasoning and Texas Pete:

004

I’m thinking it would be pretty easy for me to be a vegan if I didn’t love eggs, goat cheese and shrimp so much. I just can’t see myself ever giving them up.. so I will remain a quasitarian

For lunch, I packed a Quorn cutlet on a TJs mini bagel (love those little things) with hot sauce, mustard and spinach.

005

Paired with half an orange bell pepper, it was a delicious little lonchi:

006

I can definitely see what the Quorn hype has been about it the blog world. The little cutlets are AMAZING. You can flavor them however you wish and I love that they’re not too chickeny tasting. Bonus: they’re soy free. Of course I would fall in love with yet another thing that I will not be finding in Valdosta. One more reason for frequent roadtrips to civilization ;)

Work was pretty laid back, and then I FINALLY went to the post office (macaroons are on the way, friends!) and met with the owner of the gym I work at. We’re going to be doing a Biggest Loser style challenge this summer and I’m way excited about it!

When I got home, I was feeling snacky (shocker, no?) so I grabbed some strawberries (gotta love fresh Georgia strawberries!!!) with so raw goat cheddar:

009

I had a cheesy bite with every berry bite. Savory + sweet is such a good way to go :D

It’s time for me to choreograph for step, teach, then off to school. I was planning on making a real dinner to pack, but it looks like it’s gonna be Clif Bar City for me.

Hope you all have a very happy Tuesday!!!
BEFORE I FORGET!!! Please stop by and make a visit to the lovely Jenna’s Team In Training site. She is running a half marathon on the behalf of the organization and fundraising for a truly amazing cause. She has some awesome fundraising events coming up and we all need to support her on this incredible philanthropic endeavor :D

See ya soon bloggies,

Something to do: Trick your body! For those of you who count calories, think about varying your calorie intake each day to keep your body from kicking into cruise control. If you usually consume 1500 calories each day, try switching your intake to 1400 one day, 1600 the next and so on. This will keep your average caloric intake at the same amount and will shake things up. Remember change creates change. Anything you can do to keep your body guessing while you’re trying to achieve fitness/weight loss goals is a good thing :D

I’m definitely going to stick to quasitarianism too! Eggs, cheese, shrimp and scallops are some of my favorites (along with yogurt and ice cream). :)

Hope you have a good evening!

When I studied abroad in Sevilla, we learned the Spainish expression, “Te quiero un huevo” which meant, obviously, I love you a lot. But of course my friends starting saying to each other, “Te quiero dos huevos” tee hee it’s been our inside joke now for years.

Interesting idea for today’s tip. I don’t count calories, but I eat at the same times everyday and my body knows when it’s going to get food and acts hungry even when sometims I think I’m not. I’m going to try to switch around the times that I eat. Thanks Gina!

Gina,

Breakfast looks lovely! Is the Whole Foods vanilla extract different from normal extract? I’m curious.

I would totally be vegan if it weren’t for cottage cheese and parmasan. I can live without everything else! Yummy products like quorn make it easy. (Speaking of which you should try it over spaghetti squash with some sundried tomatoes and basil. Now that is delish!)

With Love,

Emily

Mmm the quorn cutlet on TJ’s mini bagel looks absolutely delicious! I’ve been wanting to try the quorn cutlets but I wasn’t too sure if they were worth buying. Thanks for the review! I’ll definitely look for them the next time I go grocery shopping!

I love sweet/savory combos also, so those strawberries with the cheese looks SO GOOD!

I wonder if the Quorn products will ever make their way to Canada – I’d like to try them out, even though I do like chicken. They look interesting.

Great tip today about change creating change…so well said!
“Quasaitarian”–hehe. Sometimes I think I could go vegan, but for me the foods I would struggle to give up would be yogurt, salmon, and shrimp, too!

Gina,
Yeah, I would have a hard time giving up eggs as well. Love them so…and your strawberry goat cheese platter makes me re-think the whole vegan thing as well. :)

Looks like you still got in a great workout despite sleeping through the alarm (hate that, but it happens) AND you also ate a wholesome breakfast. Glad you made time for the important stuff (including walking the pups). :)

How fun that y’all are doing are doing a Biggest Loser challenge. Way to spread the love of exercise and healthy eating…just don’t be as scary as Jillian.

Quorn – I need to try some. I think I bought a box when they first came out several years ago, but I know I’ve never had the cutlets. Good to know you liked them AND that they’re soy free. Love that!

Have a good rest of the week my friend. Enjoy Indian tonight!

If you do want your Quorn cutlets to taste more like chicken try sprinkling with some poultry searsoning and baking them.

OK totally random – but I love your blog and all the readers seem awesome, too..so perhaps someone can help me!

I’m a fairly picky eater, and I’m going to Cuba at the end of the month.. a place that is apparently notorious for their bad food.

Now, I wish to stuff my bag in advance with food that will sustain me in case there are meals that I just can’t find anything to eat (..basically, if I can’t find something slathered in sauce or animal fat). I don’t want to spend the whole week eating white bread/pasta/rice, either.

Any suggestions?! Other than protein bars? Thanks :)

Hehe, I know Spanish ;o) I love eggs, too!

Oy, I hate sleeping through the alarm – I agree that the day seems to become more crazed than ever!

I agree with you on the love for eggs, cheese and shrimp. That and the occasional yogurt is what keeps me from being vegan. But I could totally give up the other animal products and be perfectly happy!

I loooove Quorn! I’m so glad you’re liking the cutlets.

I love the idea of “change creates change” – I find that when I vary the overall caloric intake for the day, stuff definitely happens! I also tend to have more energy, interestingly enough!
