Snack monster

Hey guys! How are ya? Things are bueno over here :D We bought our tickets to New York this morning!!! Who’s stoked?!? This girl, right here :D

Dinner last night was nothing crazy because I got home late from teaching Zumba and stopping by Jeni’s –she was so sweet and picked up some groceries for me.

I had spiralized zucchini for spaghetti, topped it with WFs eggplant marinara, a Quorn naked cutlet (which I love to pieces, fungus and all) and some fresh basil:

027

The pilot had some gnocchi with chicken and I also stuffed a SuperCharge Me cookie into my face before crashing out on the couch ;)

This morning, I woke up to some nice and crispy raw eggplant bacon

002

I also had some soaked oat groats (1/3 cup) with a smashed banana and some raw AB:

003

With some Joe, it was a lovely little bfast:

004

I walked the puppies on the base trail, did some stuff around the casa and made a juice for snack
005

That red gem contained two carrots, 1 red bell pepper, 1 apple, a stalk of romaine and a beet. It was perfect :D

I looked through some cookbooks (trying to plan dinner for Friday night’s girls’ night) and also had some of the baba ganouj Megan made with the raw carrot curry chips I put in the dehydrator yesterday.

006

I’ve noticed that I’ve been a snack monster lately. I usually have small meals anyway, but for the past few days all I’ve wanted it snacks! With the hotter weather, I like tiny meals better because a super full stomach does not bode well with the blazing sun. Are you the same way???

I just did day 2 of Week 2 of the Shape Up with Jeni at the gym and my arms are going to be niiiiiice and sore tomorrow :D

For those of you doing the Google Doc, I added a Week 2 tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet—just click on that to track your points for the second week.

I’m off to train my group at the gym, then teaching spin and going to our wives’ coffee.

See ya soon!

xoxo,

G

image  Congrats to the Summer Shape Up girls who got all 3 points for yesterday: Alisson, Amisha, Brenna D., Danielle, Elizabeth D., Frannie M., Heather K., Karyn R., Katie S., Kendra T., Lauren, Leslie E., Lissi, Lizzie A., Meghan D., Meghan N., Piera, Sara D., Stephanie F., Melissa, Margaret C., Clara L., Megan R., Aisha I., Menden, Erika L., Amanda Will., Kelly E. and Kelly M.!!

YEAHHHHH! :D

Megan is finally going to start her blog! We’re having trouble thinking of a name though! She is a high raw girl with awesome recipes and nutritional advice… Please help us think of a name! Not to bribe or anything (I would never!) but we’ll send you some raw vegan treats (macaroons included) if we pick your suggestion   ;)

Yesterday I’m not sure how I would’ve responded but today, after sitting outside in the sun, following having taken a walk through the woods, all I want to do is snack, snack, snack. At least we’ve both made healthy choices right? :)

Raw curry carrot chips sound seriously delish.

As for the blog name, they’re SO hard to think up!! How about Foodie In the Raw? I’m terrible at this. :P

The first name that came to mind was Megan in the Raw, but that is very similar to Jen’s name. The other idea is RAWcipes.

anything with “rawsome” would be….well, awesome :)

that eggplant bacon looks so good!

That raw eggplant bacon looks incredible!!

As for a name…. Mostly Raw Megan, perhaps?

Kristilyn May 12, 2009 at 4:07 pm

Those chips/crackers look really yummy! I’ve never really given baba ganoush a fair chance, so I may have to try it again sometime.

Can you make your juices without a juicer? I’ve been wanting to make some sort of concoction, but all I have is a magic bullet and a food processor.

And when you say a stalk of romaine, is that just one leaf?

Ooh thinking of names is so hard! Maybe "keeping it raw"? Or "Living Raw" ? Or "My Life: Real & Raw"? Haha I don't know!!!

I love snacks! There are just some days (particularly in the summer) where mini snacks all day are just exactly what I want/need.

hmmm I’ll have to think about the blog name…

The eggplant bacon looks interesting, will have to try that.

Looking forward to Megan’s blog.

I HAVE been following plan, but the past few days an unexpected visit from the husband who was on mission had me away from the computer.

Do you have recommendations for a place to look to get a base idea of how much I should intake in a day? Someone recommended mypyramid.gov but their rec for me is 2000 cals/day which I know is too much. I’m only 4’11″ and already need to lose a few lbs! Thanks!

I’m the same way – when it’s hot out I don’t want a heavy meal and I don’t want to eat anything hot.

I love the sounds of those carrot curry crackers! Yum!

It sounds like you having a lovely day- all your raw snacks looks delish.

Quick question- What constitutes raw almond butter.. do you make it yourself or would any almond butter that is made with raw almonds raw. For instance, would the Trader Joe’s almond butter with no salt be considered raw?

I’m pumped that Megan is starting her own blog. YIPEE! If I think of any blog names I will email ya!

or keep it simple…

Simply Raw
Raw Megan/RawMeg
The Megetarian ;)
Naturally Raw

etc etc

these names are awesome so far! THANK YOU!

dori- may 21-25 :D

kristilyn- you need a juicer to make the juice… sorry! it would make a good smoothie though, blended up in the bullet :D and as far as the romaine goes, i phrased it horribly, i meant a whole romaine heart (the entire little bush thing)

karla nicole- it’s not too late to join at all, just read the intro post and follow along with us!

This is totally a rip off of the bars by the same name, but I think Raw Revolution would make a pretty kickass blog name.

I was reading up on soaking muesli the other day and I found that (supposedly) the original recipe was called “fruit porridge” or “La Dolce Sopreta.”

La Dolce Sopreta is italian for “the sweet surprise” and since raw vegan sweets are surprisingly good and Megan seems very sweet, she should call her new blog “La Dolce Sopreta.” Or, if she doesn’t want to sound too pretentious, The Sweet Surprise.

Please send me macaroons! ::drool::
