A bloomin’ onion

Hey bloggies :D How are ya?

My house is a bloomin’ onion.

Not this kind:

This kind!

I made some raw onion bread last night since I devoured the stash the twins left with me :D

So, needless to say, my house reeks like onion. I invited Kath over, since she loves onions so much, but she politely declined ;)

I woke up this morning and took the puppers on an amazing 45 minute walk on the base trail. When we got back to the casa, the puppies crashed out:

and I made some bfast… I gave raw oats another chance in my life

oats

I blended 1/2 cup raw oat groats (different than traditional rolled oats- you can find them in the bulk bins at most health food stores) that I soaked overnight, with a little almond milk, maca, raw cacao powder, 1/2 smashed banana and topped with goji berries. A superfood success :D

Next, I met Jeni at the gym for shoulders, chest and triceps

Elliptical Warm Up 5 minutes
Vogue Press 10 lbs 3 sets of 12
Straight leg tricep dips Body weight 3 sets of 10
Boso push ups Body weight 3 sets of 12
Chest fly leg raise combo 5lbs  each 3 sets of 12
Straight bar upward row 40 lbs 3 sets of 12
Straight bar pressdown 50 lbs 3 sets of 10
Elliptical Level 6 15 minutes
Total time: 1 hr 10 min

Jeni and I hit up Wizzle for groceries, and I got two fun things while I was there:

jacketandmag

Skull jacket for Bella and Clean Eating mag (adore).

For lunch, I busted out the bloomin onion flatbread and made a seaweed salad to go with it:

lunchmunch

Dulse, nori, arame and wakame with a rice vinegar, Nama shoyu, agave, orange juice and orange zest dressing- topped with sesame seeds.

seaweed

Not too shabby :D

In between training appointments this afternoon, I had some snacks:

apple

lara

And made some Snobby Joes to take to munch after teaching Zumba, with the pathetic amount of Mary’s Crack that was left in the box.

snobbyandcrack

Zumba was bootylicious, dinner was delicious and I trained funny quotes lady, whom I missed so much over Thanksgiving!

I came home to bummer news though.. looks like we’ll be stuck in Valdizzy for longer than anticipated.

The pilot bought me a pity present:

5-9 days can’t get here soon enough :D

Well I’m off to shower my stinky face. Have a wonderful night!

Much love,

Gina

*A little note: After the following quote in this morning’s post “I got to work on a nutritional analysis and meal plan for a client –if ya’ll ever need help with that stuff, send me an email”,  I, err, got over 100 emails. I’m going to get back to all of you (I promise! Still catching up on last week’s emails, too). Of course the shorter the email is, the quicker I’ll be able to get back to you, but for the longer ones it might take a little bit more time for me to give your email the attention it deserves.

  1. Those doggies are so cute. I meant to tell you Targizzle also had some cute costumes for them in the dollar section (but, they were more than a dollar.) They had gingerbread man, princess, etc. Is that THE garmin you wanted?

    • Fitnessista says:

oh good to know! i was in too much of a fluster to hit the pet section when i was there on black friday :D
i got your email– i think we should do it!
yes, that is the famous garmin :D

  2. WOW 100 e-mails!! That’s.. Intense. I love onions as much as the next girl but my mom takes her onion love to another level. She loves eating an onion as if it was an apple. What I don’t understand is how she doesn’t cry when it’s that close to her face. I totally believe in superhuman powers after that.

    • Fitnessista says:

LOL! that’s awesome. it’s funny, onions have never made me cry. the pilot is fascinated by this– everytime i’m chopping one he tells me to smell it. no tears, nada.

  3. Snobby Joes, It’s been way too long since I’ve made those. Must make soon. All your food looks great, but honestly, my favorite part about this post is Bella’s new skull jacket. That is awesome, and I love that it’s pink!

So sorry you’re going to be stuck in V-town a while longer, but I think you’ll love your Garmin!

  4. Hahaha I would die to see Kath in your house with that onion smell! HOORAY YOU GOT A GARMY!!!! How much longer are you gonna be there? At least you have a gorgey house there :)

    • Fitnessista says:

      thank you! <3
i love our house and my friends, but i'm just ready for the next thing, ya know? it looks like we'll be here for another year or so, and i thought we'd be leaving in the spring.

  5. I wish I knew how to make seaweed salad. Seriously it’s one of my favorite meals, but it only comes out right when I order it at Sushi restaurants. Wow, and yours looks like high class restaurant quality!

I just bought some oat groats (as well as maca and mesquite for that matter), so I imagine similar breakfast concoctions in my immediate future.

So sorry about the Valdosta news. It’s no fun being stuck somewhere you don’t want to be (as I am here in Thousand Oaks- yuck!) Sending you lots of hugs!

  6. Oooh we made raw onion bread once at my house too. Couldn’t sleep on the night it was dehydrating because the smell was sooooo strong! It was worth the sleepless night though…it’s SOOOOOOOO delicious!!!

  7. You will love the garmin its so much fun and such a good training tool! Prepare to become addicted!

  8. That’s whats on my Christmas list: garmin…yay for you. My dog always passes out after a long run/walk too.

  9. Yay for the Garmin! I’m getting one for Christmas, and my parents just told me it might be coming in the mail EARLY! Wahoo!!

    That’s a really awesome “pity present!” ;)

  10. Kelly Michelle says:

Clean Eating Mag is my absolute FAV, yay for your pity present :)

  11. awee your puppies <3 so cute!!
    your snobby joes look excellent!

i want to make some raw krackers!! i loove them. but have yet to try my hand at making them myself

  12. That onion bread looks DIVINE, but then again I *heart* onions so so much. A dinner without onions is just not a real dinner at all for me!

I picked up a copy of Clean Eating when I was in America in October, I read it from cover to cover it had excellent ideas.

  13. Ah! I was going to e-mail you too, good thing I didn’t! I mean, advice from you would be a dream but I don’t want to overwhelm you! Maybe sometime in the future :)

I’ve had raw onion bread from my fav raw restaurant and it is so unbelievably delicious. I like onions but I don’t love them so I didn’t think the bread would be good…but to use your favorite phrase “it rocked my face off” ;)

    Seaweed salad too?! Yummy!

  14. for ONCE I dont leave yer blog famished :)
Im not a fan of the onion in any form (which always shocks my friends when we go to Outback :) they used to think I had willpower. no will power just icked by the onion..)

  15. I just got that magazine too! Love it :)

  16. GARMIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. I won’t lie – bloomin’ onions used to be one of my FAVORITES. I love onions but don’t love the onion hangover you get the next morning!

  18. That is a great consolation present Gina! Who knows what you’ll get for a push present one day hahahaha! ;)

  19. I love onion bread…will be making another batch as soon as our raw choc chip cookies come out of the ‘D’!

    Enjoy!

  20. I have to try the raw oats! I am trying to incorporate more raw foods into my diet.

  21. That looks awesome!

  22. So as a personal trainer, you’re certified to do nutritional analysis and meal plans for clients? Do you know if that’s the same in every state, or is that a unique thing?

I love onions cooked, but really can’t stand them raw. That onion bread looks interesting, at least. I have a dehydrator, so maybe I’ll give it a whirl. Recipe?

I wanted a Garmin for Christmas! But since I’m getting my wisdom teeth out right before Christmas I asked for a juicer instead. That must be some Pilot you got there, cause that is SOME pity present!

    • Fitnessista says:

i’m a certified nutritionist as well, and going to raw foods school gave me another certification that enables me to consult others with nutrition
as long as you have a certification, you can use it in any state :D

  23. Did you buy all the seaweed separately and combine or did it all come together? I’m dying to make some seaweed salad!

    Great post:)

  24. Gah!!! Onion smell! I’m running in fear!!

But of course, it LOOKS gorgeous. :-D

  25. bahhaha everyone wants your advice (me included), you are just that fab!

    YUM raw crackers!

  26. I am loving your blog! You and all the other blog divas out there have totally inspired me to start my own. And I bought my husband the Garmin GPS watch you just got — AWESOME. He won’t run without it now. You’re going to love it. Happy December!

  27. I’ve never had seaweed salad; the thought of it kind of scares me! Any tips for prepping it?

    • Fitnessista says:

it’s super easy– just soak the seaweed for about an hour before you plan to use it (wakame takes longer, like 12 hrs), then rinse and drain then toss with your dressing :D

  28. Bah. Onions.

  29. I got that clean eating mag the other day. I made the minestrone soup on the cover, and it was really good for a complete meal. It’s starting to get cold up here in the ATL, so after I hit the gym I came home and warmed it up. YUMMY. I’m all about a bloomin’ onion too, but not about the calories in it. I probably haven’t had one in YEARS!!!LOL!

Who are you certified through for nutrition? I want to look into that after I get my personal trainer cert. Thanks :)

  30. That stinks about staying in Valdosta for longer, but it seems like you have really made the best of it! We have been DYING to get orders (preferably to Hickam…like everyone!!) and still, nothing. But that’s just the way it works, right?! :)

  31. I am so sorry to hear about your news…I was once stuck in a town I hated for a long, long 22 months…I can relate. :(

I would love to know who you are certified through for nutrition as well. I’m so fascinated by nutrition and food and its affect on losing weight and productivity! Thanks for the help!

  32. I actually just bought that magazine this weekend too! Love it so far :)

Also, I hate onions as much as Kath. Ickkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!

  33. IF you enjoy raw oats, you should try buckwheat for breakfast. I have been soaking hulled buckwheat in almond milk for 20-30 minutes. Then topping (or blending it until porridge-like) with banana and cinnamon. It is delicious!

  34. good article, i will add my feeds.
