Blast from the Past

Hey everyone! How are ya?? I’m bueno over here 😀

Last night, dinner was simple and satisfying.

salmon and veg

BBQ salmon (marinated in OrganicVille BBQ sauce, which is sweetened with agave!), sweet potato rounds (with olive oil, sea salt and pepper) and roasted asparagus (with sea salt, pepper and garlic powder). It was everything I could ever want from a dinner: buttah of the sea, sweet tater and veg 😀

We crashed out pretty early because the pilot had to get up at a ridiculous hour and turned all the lights on so I could not fall back asleep and then I got up for a couple of training appointments.

Before leaving, I made some messy chia protein pudding

chia

-1 oz chia seeds

-1 cup almond milk

-1 scoop Sun Warrior

-1 t vanilla

-6 drops liquid stevia

-sliced banana

-1 T mesquite

-lots of cinnamon

I went to the gym, trained two clients and now I’m back at the casa trying to figure out the day. Yoga and grocery shopping are in there somewhere, along with some work at my office (aka Bizzle).

Since I’m kinda lacking in the food photos for ya’ll, I thought it would be fun to do a little blast from the past

Viesa, when she was a baby

baby vies

Baby Bella (I used to dress her up everyday and take her around with me. Yes, I was that girl)

baby bell

One night, we were bored and the pilot was rockin some sweet scruff

face

(I’ll do him a favor and not post the video of him singing like this… haha)

At Disney, looking like lobsters after spending all day at the beach (right before we got engaged)

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

xoxo,

Gina

Re-thinking the resolution thing: As you guys know, I’m pretty anti-New Years resolution. I prefer to make changes NOW instead of waiting for the added pressure of doing so on an ambiguous date. After thinking about it some more, I am going to make some resolutions but they’re not going to have anything to do with health and fitness. These resolutions are on a more personal and spiritual level: I’m going to complain less, love more, pray more, try to understand instead of judging, do more yoga and read more. What are you going to do “less” and “more” of in the New Year???

PS- 700th post is coming up… stay tuned for a giveaway!

Ohmigosh I want Viesa as a baby! How freaking adorable!!!

I am also anti-resolutions and make changes throughout the year as I want. I need to keep my house cleaner!!

I think those are great goals!

  3. Alice on December 29, 2009 at 9:52 am

Oh god, your baby viesa! My birthday is the 7th of jan, so I usually use the time between new years and that day to figure out quasi resolutions… sort of frame the year past and the year to come.

  4. Nicci@NiftyEats on December 29, 2009 at 10:05 am

Sounda like great resolutions that you can start now!

LOVE the puppy pictures! They were both such cuties!! The picture of you and the pilot is also really cute! Is that where you got engaged?

    • Fitnessista on December 29, 2009 at 10:25 am

no, we got engaged in tucson. that would have been AWESOME though 😀

  7. Kristie on December 29, 2009 at 10:15 am

Oh my word baby Viesa was so, so precious – probably hard to say no to her, eh? 🙂

  8. ashleigh on December 29, 2009 at 10:18 am

OMG your dogs look like stuffed animals when they were little babies!

If I had a dog I know I would dress it up and take it everywhere with me 🙂

  9. Danielle (Coffee Run) on December 29, 2009 at 10:21 am

Your dogs are adorable! I agree about New Years resolutions- why wait until “a new year” to do something?

  10. Pam on December 29, 2009 at 10:22 am

ha ha!…luved the post! So Cute!

    Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

  11. Mellissa on December 29, 2009 at 10:22 am

They were such cute puppies! A few of the things I have planned for 2010- travel, new job, more yoga, while trying to be less stressed!

  12. rachael on December 29, 2009 at 10:29 am

A couple of my intentions for the new year are to be more patient and to spend a little more time playing with my son instead of cumpulsively cleaning.

  13. Rachel on December 29, 2009 at 10:47 am

    The puppies are so cute!

I have a whole post of resolutions on my blog, but almost all of them are centered around health & wellness. I just want to be a healthier me!

  14. Erica on December 29, 2009 at 10:50 am

Dinner from last night looks so delicious! Both of the doggies were SUCH cute puppies but oh my gosh- that pictured of baby Viesa is AWESOME! What a cute little puff!

  15. Lauren @ Eater not a runner on December 29, 2009 at 10:51 am

  16. BethT on December 29, 2009 at 10:58 am

OMG, those puppy pics! Both are so cute…Viesa looks like a lottle baby fox. Amazing!

  17. Diana (Soap & Chocolate) on December 29, 2009 at 11:00 am

Wow, I die for your puppies’ baby pics. And I’m not even a dog person! Swoon factor = maxed out.

  18. Lindsey512 on December 29, 2009 at 11:14 am

Ahhhh! Baby Viesa and Bella are so cute I can’t take it.

    Love your resolutions.

Quick question if you’ve got a moment. I picked up some chia seeds, but I am not sure the ratio of seeds to milk to use for pudding. I don’t have a food scale…I thought I saw in a much earlier post you said 1/4 cup seeds and 3/4 cup milk but I’m not sure. Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on December 29, 2009 at 11:18 am

yes, 1/4 cup and 3/4 cup will make it super thick (and GOOD!), if you want it a little thinner try 1/4 cup chia and 1 cup milk.

      • Lindsey512 on December 29, 2009 at 11:38 am

        Thanks 😀

  19. Katie on December 29, 2009 at 11:29 am

Baby Viesa is adorable! And I love Bella’s little outfit. I have a tiny chihuaua and I had thought I’d be “that girl” too but she would have none of it. She hates clothes. But she does like to go places!

  20. Lisa on December 29, 2009 at 11:45 am

Oh how cute the pups are. Your dinner looks so good after eating airplane food yesterday, uuugh. See ya tomorrow. Missed you.

  21. Lisa on December 29, 2009 at 11:47 am

I really like your resolutions. I feel that I would like to work on my spirituality, I really want to learn to meditate. I also, like you, would like to work on not judging. I would like to represent love. I do haha have a body challenge though! I really am determined to get into the best shape ever and loose my belly fat! Peace to You, the Pilot, and your babies! Happy New Year!

  22. Ashley on December 29, 2009 at 11:47 am

    More research into future careers.

    Less negativity.

Viesa is the sweetest thing. I’m sorry though, if I knew you in person I’d totally have to tease you for dressing up Bella! 🙂

  23. Janna (Just Flourishing) on December 29, 2009 at 11:47 am

Love the blast from the past photos! Viesa and Bella were so adorable!

  24. rachelgab on December 29, 2009 at 11:58 am

I think you have the right idea about resolutions. I just want 2010 to be my happiest year yet and the other day I found this! http://www.happiness-project.com/ which gives you different themes to focus on for each month of the 2010. I really love the idea!

Complaining less is something I’ve been working on too 🙂

    • Fitnessista on December 29, 2009 at 12:14 pm

that’s awesome- thanks so much for sharing the website with me

  25. rhodeygirl on December 29, 2009 at 12:12 pm

LOVE your resolutions!!! And Baby Bella’s bow! It is so cute!!!

  26. Kailey (SnackFace) on December 29, 2009 at 12:16 pm

I am so with you on the resolution thing! I never make them. I have, however, made a list of things I want to get better at/improve. Actually, I have one huge goal for 2010 and that’s to find a job. But don’t all graduates of 2010 have that goal?

I am gushing over the baby puppy pictures. As in, that made my morning.

Hope you’re having a marvelous Tuesday, love! xoxo

  29. Carrie on December 29, 2009 at 12:40 pm

That is my favorite dinner! The puppies look so sweet. I hope to judge less and have more of an open mind in 2010!

  30. Alexandra on December 29, 2009 at 12:43 pm

    Yo G$-

I remember you saying that you brought whole wheat tortillas home with you from Tucson – just curious where you get your tortillas from? I live in Tucson and would love love love some fresh WW tortillas.

    Thanks a mil!

    • Fitnessista on December 29, 2009 at 1:02 pm

      hey alexandra!
the tortillas are from anita st. bakery. it’s downtown tucson, in a sketch area (bring someone with you), but the people that own it are wonderful and they have the best tortillas in tucson, hands down.
let me know if you get some!

Mmm… dinner looks perfect and right up my alley, with all my fav’s. Just bought my first jar of chia seeds, and can’t wait to experiment.

  35. Heather @ The Joyful Kitchen on December 29, 2009 at 5:10 pm

I’m going to do less planning and more doing! And the great thing is, it’s started NOW, so there’s no way to blame it on only being a New Year’s resolution 🙂

  36. Heather McD (Heather Eats Almond Butter) on December 29, 2009 at 5:25 pm

Oh my gosh, look at the baby puppers. SO cute.

Totally channeled you yesterday. Had breakfast at The Good Egg. Freaking loved that place. I’ve decided I need to A) Move to Arizona or B) Open a Pita Jungle and The Good Egg in Nashville. Neither plan is going to be easy. Don’t think CD wants to move or invest in a new restaurant. Hehe.

Great intentions for the year of 2010. I’m going to post about my soon. It’s going to be a good year. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on December 29, 2009 at 8:02 pm

good egg! AHHHHHHHHH! i can’t wait for some good egg next week 😀
so excited to hear about what you have in store for the new year

  37. Leah on December 29, 2009 at 5:34 pm

Loving the pictures! Gotta love the puppy pics, theyre so adorable. I wish I knew my dog as a puppy. Theyre so sweet when theyre little!
Great resolutions. Im not making any this year for the exact reasons you said.

  38. Megan on December 29, 2009 at 6:15 pm

Love the puppy pictures! Why do they have to get big? ;P

I’ve been meaning to ask you. How often do you find that you go grocery shopping. Since you eat a lot of fresh food like fruits and veggies, don’t you feel like you go shopping a lot? How much do you usually spend there?

    • Fitnessista on December 29, 2009 at 8:02 pm

      hey megan,
i usually go once per week, if i’m organized. this week, i wasn’t organized because we just got back from vacay, so i’ll prob go one or two more times. when i grocery shop, my whole cart is almost all produce!!! it gets a little pricey because i only like to buy organic if its available, and it’s expensive here, but usually for all of our meals i can swing it for around 200 a week.

      • Megan on December 30, 2009 at 6:29 am

        Thanks for the reply 🙂

Your puppies are adorable! I love looking back at the pictures when my Joe was a puppy 🙂

  40. Jenny on December 29, 2009 at 7:29 pm

That salmon dinner is right up my alley 😉 And your dogs were such adorable puppies!! So sweeeeet.

I’m totally with you on the “resolutions” this year. No health or fitness related ones for me either (except I’d like to do more yoga), I want to be more positive, go easier on myself, and be more honest with myself 🙂

  41. Jodie on December 29, 2009 at 7:33 pm

Your dinner looks awesome. Your dogs are so adorable.

  42. skinnyrunner on December 29, 2009 at 7:39 pm

love the blast from the past pictures!

  43. Nicole @ kismetsbooty on December 30, 2009 at 9:34 am

I love the pics of your puppies..how cute! I love your resolutions as well. I decided this year to do 365 days of them. Some are easy like thanking someone that I love and some are harder like getting out of debt and adding yoga to my workouts. But life is an adventure so why not make it fun.

    • Fitnessista on December 30, 2009 at 11:09 am

wow, that is a great idea!
