Whirlwind of awesomeness

Hey everyone!

Hope you’re having a wonderful and relaxing Sunday 😀

Disney was pretty much a whirlwind of awesomeness.

prince

My pilot prince 😀

Before we met up with everyone at the parks, we got our workout on at the YMCA.

On the way to the gym, I munched a mini Raw Revolution spirulina bar and a nanner:

barandbanana

I did an hour and 40 minutes of Zumba (what can I say, I’m in love) while the pilot did weights and went for a run.

We got some protein at Planet smoothie:

smoothie

(The Leapin’ Lizard, which is vegan and made with peaches and strawberries, and a scoop of Sun Warrior that I had in a baggie in my purse)

And some brunch at Panera, since it was already kind of late.

salmon (2)

I got the mediterranean salmon salad, with only lettuce, salmon, olives and onions (which were picked off).

We got ready, and met up with everyone at Epcot.

My homeland:

hat

I soon swapped out that hot tea for a Bloody Mary 😉

bloodymary

We walked around Epcot, in the POURING rain (we were troopers!) and then went over to Magic Kingdom.

The boys:

The girls:

me and meg

We rode quite a few rides –the lines were super short!- and then decided it was snack time.

I had a Greek salad, which was full o’ delicious veggies, and they were so kind to make me one sans cheese.

salad

I loaded it up with mushrooms and sautéed onions from the topping station- it was pretty much amazing.

We ended up staying until the park closed, and then met up with the rest of the familia at Rainforest Cafe.

rainforest

I stuck with a salmon theme and ordered the cedar-planked salmon with no butter sauce and extra veggies instead of rice.

salmon

It was everything I could have wished for 😀

Since my brother’s birthday is Monday, we celebrated by ordering the famous volcano.

VOLCANOOOOOOOOOO!

volcano

I actually didn’t munch any. Just wasn’t feeling it and was feeling very satisfied from my salmon and veg 😀

Yesterday’s Disney shenanigans had me constantly thinking about this guy….

Just watch, you’ll be amazed 😉

We’re off to bfast, then shopping and hitting the road back to Valdizzy 😀
Have a fabulous day and I’ll see you in the morning with Week 3 of the Winter Shape Up.

xoxo,

Gina

Glad you liked Disney, it’s fun there isn’t it? I had a friend who got engaged by the Disney Castle in Disney Paris. Too funny you mention that song, it’s my mom’s favourite song, she sings it 24/7. Have a safe journey back to Valdosta.

  4. Tyler Ramey on January 31, 2010 at 11:26 am

I wonder how the VOLCANNNOOOOO ranks against the PIZZOOOKKIIIE?!?!? 🙂 I think I would have had to have munched.

I haven’t been to Disney in years and these pictures make me so nostalgic! Loving the restaurant variations, as usual, and the volcano looks DANGEROUS! Can’t wait to start week 3!

  11. katie on January 31, 2010 at 12:14 pm

So glad you had fun! Love Disney! I worked there for 2 summers so I’ve been quite a few times in the rain…
And I also used to work at RFC…I love those veggies! I should figure out how to make that pineapple vineagrette that’s on them.

  12. Jennie {in Wonderland} on January 31, 2010 at 12:18 pm

Ahhh Disney! I worked at EPCOT from Sept 2006 to Sept 2007 and I miss it so. Worked in the stores at the Canadian pavilion.

My bf [he worked in the UK pavilion!] and I are going back in June for 2 weeks. So I have to ask, where did you get that delicious healthy salad? It looks like quick service, but I can’t figure out where it’s from. And I SHOULD know, lol.

Thanks for sharing the Disney experiences, Gina. So nice to see it again.

    • Fitnessista on January 31, 2010 at 8:51 pm

yup it was quick service, from tomorrowland (the place that has different “bays” and a dinosaur looking thing playing the piano in the front of the restaurant)- it was from bay 2 🙂

  13. Mama Pea on January 31, 2010 at 12:22 pm

How incredibly fun! We took the girls to Disney almost a year and a half ago, and I so badly want to take them back now that they are older. I MUST remember to carry protein powder in my purse. Genius! Enjoy your day, sweetie!

That looks like a lot of fun. I used to love Rainforest Cafe as a kid! 😀

  17. Running Betty on January 31, 2010 at 12:32 pm

so different from my weekend trip to disney with 2 tween girls!
1 hour shopping. 3 hours DisneyQuest, lunch of pesto pizza at Wolfgang Pucks, snacks were granola bars & bagels we brought, 2 hours EPCOT, sushi in Japan at EPCOT where we got to watch them make it, 3 desserts around the world at EPCOT, 1.5 more hours of rides, drove home.
I can tell you the chocolate mousse layered cake in The Land at EPCOT tastes no better than what you would buy at the grocery store, and is probably dried out from being cut into hours earlier.
The most fun was the light up gun the girls bought for $10 (at EPCOT that’s a good deal!) that shoots BUBBLES because people love to see bubbles. It was quite an attention getter when dark fell!

  18. Running Betty on January 31, 2010 at 12:33 pm

Oh, but I have had the volcano and that rocks. When we were at Disney’s Cross Country Classic and took 4 of the runners to dinner with 3 parents and one sibling after the 5k and showers were done, we all shared one. It’s really that big!

  19. Kendel on January 31, 2010 at 12:35 pm

It looks like you’re having an awesome time! I’ve never been to Disney- growing up my father always said he’d “rather take a beating than step foot into Disney World.” 🙁 Glad you’re enjoying it though!

  20. Katie on January 31, 2010 at 12:41 pm

Haha! That guy is amazing at singing, but sort of creepy. =P

I am jealous of your trip to Disney!

  21. Jessica @ WHY DONTCHA RUN on January 31, 2010 at 12:43 pm

Aw, it looks like you had a great time in Orlando! Rainy days at Disney are always the best if you can stick it out and make a good time out of it. As you said, the lines are slim to none and you make lots of fun memories. :o) See ya tomorrow with week 3 of the WSU!

  22. Terese on January 31, 2010 at 12:47 pm

Crazy! I read your blog everyday but have never commented and today I had to say something! That guy is an old friend from highschool! How random…!!! Haha.

    • Fitnessista on January 31, 2010 at 8:50 pm

hahah i’m glad nick’s singing influenced your first comment 😀 so cool that you know him!

  23. Adrien on January 31, 2010 at 12:49 pm

Looks like you’re having so much fun!

I am a tad jealous, but will live!

What percentage of your diet do you try to keep raw, would you say? You generally eat quite healthy, but, you also have a huge raw influence in your life-

    • Fitnessista on January 31, 2010 at 8:50 pm

      hey adrien,
right now i’m about half raw -i just eat what i feel like- but in the summer, it will most likely be closer to 90% raw. i crave cooked foods in the winter and raw, fresh foods in the spring and summer.

  24. Paige on January 31, 2010 at 12:50 pm

That looks like so much fun! Its always fun to catch up with the family. Quick nutrition question- I love salmon and tuna, but I’m always careful about how much I eat because of the mercury levels in both.I noticed you ate salmon for lunch & dinner. Yum! How many servings of tuna or salmon are recommended per week? I’ve tried to research it on the internet, but couldn’t find a solid answer. Thanks and have a great day! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on January 31, 2010 at 8:49 pm

      hey paige,
i eat a decent amount of salmon and other fish, but when i’m home i always make sure it’s organic and wild caught. i think as long as you don’t go too crazy, it’s fine.

  25. Ariffa on January 31, 2010 at 1:06 pm

That video was FANTASTIC, but it kiiinda freaked me out just a little..

  26. Allie (Live Laugh Eat) on January 31, 2010 at 1:16 pm

Ahhh I wish we had gone to Disney when we were in Orlando earlier this month!!! It was too expensive for 4 of us (me, my parents, and my old uncle) since there weren’t any kids and we’ve been time and time again.

    I MISS EPCOT!!!!

Lovely din din at Rainforest. You are so good and customizing your restaurant meals 🙂

  39. Mary on January 31, 2010 at 2:58 pm

I hope you have annual passes to DW or something! With the cost of a day there, who goes to the gym and then out to brunch beforehand?!? I go from like opening to closing! I’m probably a little Disney crazy, though. I actually have been known to research how to get the most Disney in a day.

    • Fitnessista on January 31, 2010 at 8:47 pm

Glad you’re having a blast in Orlando! It is a fun city 🙂

He is! He is also an amazing animator.. he works for one of the big animation companies! He did his thesis incorporating his singing.. it’s pretty funny. He probably doesn’t remember me.. he had tons of freshmen to take care of but it’s still odd seeing him get “famous.”

oh lovepie just sending you a quickie little response to one of your tweets earlier today about your friend. For months my mom was super hesitant to confront me about my wavering health. She saw me get sicker and sicker every day – but didn’t want to “offend me” so she kept her concern to herself. One day I guess she just couldn’t deal anymore and she confronted me. I’ll admit, I was bitter – I was offended – I got defensive and I said hurtful things. But looking back now I realize she SAVED MY LIFE and I am SO grateful that she did. I don’t even want to imagine where I would be right now if she hadn’t said anything. I know it’s scary and I know what a pure genuine heart you have. Your friend may get angry but in the long run she WILL appreciate you caring enough to make that effort to help. Just some food for thought 🙂

    loveeeeeee to you mama <3
