Carried Away

Hi guys 😀 HAPPY FRIDAY! What are you up to this weekend?? Our plans are to plant herbs, hit up the farm for produce and chillax. <3

Sex and the City 2 was AMAZING 🙂

If you like SATC, you’ll love the movie. It’s just fun, the fashion will blow your mind and the one-liners were awesome. Mr. Big is also as dashing and charming as ever 😉

He’s like a fine wine, really 😉

(and yes, the pilot is well-aware of my *big* crush on Mr. Big. He understands and is very supportive, the same way I am with his love for Ashley Greene)

Before the movies, the girls and I went to Two Friends Cafe, which is one of my Valdizzy favorites and just recently started serving dinner. (The executive chef from 306 –our favorite- is now at Two Friends)

A glass of chilled bubbly Riesling:

wine

and a salad beast (I asked for a salad with goat cheese and lots of veggies):

salad

-arugula

-goat cheese

-tomatoes

-balsamic – their balsamic is fantastic

-roasted squash and zuchini

-grilled asparagus

It was perfect 🙂

When I got home from the movie, the pilot was still enjoying his build-your-own Mexi-meal– he loved it! Since I think it’s rude to watch people eat alone, I had a little midnight snack with him while we caught up on each other’s lives 😉 Twist my arm, eh?

snack

I have to say it, but those frijoles were amazing. I’m never buying the canned ones again.

This morning, I have a training appointment and some work to do (including making the best batch of macaroons I’ve ever made), Insanity (Cardio Power and Resistance) and the pilot is OFF (wahoo!!!) so we’ll see what kind of adventures we get into 😉

Have a happy Friday!
xoxo,

Gina

Something to talk about: Who’s your favorite Sex and the City character? I love them all, but Charlotte has always been my favorite 🙂 Also, Aiden or Big? Edited to say: Sorry to those of you who answered this question on Meghann’s blog– I just realized I asked the same thing! Oops :/

How are those Summer Shape Up workouts going??? Keep me updated in the comments section of this week’s post with how you’re doing and any changes you might want to see for next week – it will have the same format but NEW workouts (will be up MONDAY!): speed, strength, stretch

    Hi Gina

I’m de-lurking as I saw an episode of Bizarre Foods last night (I live in the Cayman Islands & we get US TV) which was set in Arizona (your home state, no?) in which Andrew Zimmern, the host, drank Kombucha at a little health food restaurant. It made think of you with your “stinky drinky”. He wasn’t that impressed with it but the funniest part was the chap who made the Kombucha – he talked to it every day and labelled it with “I love you”. Check out the episode if you didn’t catch it – the Mexican food in Arizona looked amazing by the way although I will not be trying Menudo any time soon.

I’ve been meaning to de-lurk for ages to send you some more Breakfast Cookie love. We eat a lot of oats and it is a great addition to my husband & I’s breakfast repetoire- thanks for the recipe!

Also, I’m now officially obsessed with Whole Foods. We come to the US to shop and tracked one down. We are travelling to NYC soon and the first thing I did was google the nearest Whole Foods. I can’t wait to stock up!

Thanks for all the tips & ideas – keep ’em coming.

Samantha is my favorite. She is so confident!

I definitely LOVE Samantha. Throughout the series she was my favorite haha

I’ve watched the entire series and the first movie, hoping to see the second one soon…and I have to say I really don’t like Big. I think he’s a jerk..I mean he cheated on his wife with Carrie and then left her at the altar in the first movie. And those are just two of the things he’s done to her. Obviously, you can guess my choice. Aiden…all the way! hahaha! My favorite is Charlotte…hands down.

Since you’re asking, I would love if you gave an alternative to yoga. I am a Christian and yoga is part of a very different religion. I know that some very lovely Christians do yoga, but knowing what I do about it, I just don’t feel comfortable including it into my life.

Do you think you’ll post the frijoles recipe? My family loves beans.

My mom thinks i’m a Charlotte, I want to have Samantha’s career, but I also adore Carrie and Miranda just as much! I love them all, really 🙂 Gahh i cannot waitttt to go see it next week! I’ve been looking forward to this movie all year! hahaha, no shame.

Oh, and the food looks amazing of course–nothing beats home-made mexican beans, fresh salads or GOAT CHEESE!

We love all the characters on Sex and the City. Lori likes Carrie the best, Michelle likes Charlotte too. We can not wait to see the movie!!!!

mmmm frijoles!!! I’ve never made them myself either.

My favorite SATC character is Samantha. She’s just sooo hilarious!!! I can’t wait to see her shenanigans in the movie. The bad reviews were making me sad so I’m glad you liked it!

I LOVE LOVe LOVE Sex and the City, and although I mostly enjoyed watching SATC 2 with my girlfriends last night, I have to say, I found a lot of the humor while they were abroad to be downright offensive. There’s definitely a way to acknowledge the cultural differences without presenting all Arab men (and women) the way they did. As an Arab American (half Lebanese), I think it’s really awful that the writers/director took that angle, especially now, when many people in our country unfortunately already have the wrong opinion about Arab culture. 🙁 And to think that 4 of my favorite actresses approved of it! Made me sad…

I couldn’t agree with you more! I saw SATC 2 last night, and I did enjoy hearing what the girls were up to, but the way the Middle East was portrayed made me feel very awkward. Seriously, I cringed. I just could not believe some of the things that were done/said in the movie!

      • Fitnessista on May 29, 2010 at 1:50 pm

i agree, there were definitely a few parts that made me cringe, too. for the most part, i tried not to take the movie too seriously and just enjoyed the fun parts and the fashion

I’ve never seen a single episode of sex in the city! It’s just never really been my thing, but I’m thinking about watching the first movie with some friends sometime soon now that I’ve seen how many people are straight obsessed with it lol!
