Island Adventures

Heyyyyy 😀 How’s your day going? Hope you’ve had a happy Monday. Thank you so much for your kind words on the professional photos– I was glad we did it, as we rarely get pro photos taken. Also, I’m so happy ya’ll like Sara’s guest post– she’s an inspiration, fo sho 🙂

Last night was a typical rowdy, fun, glorious Island night.

We saw a local theatre group perform here at the resort:

and then met up with some friends at the pub.

guys

There are about 6 couples that we’ve hung out with since we arrived, and they’ve all been a blasty to chill with.

We’ve also made friends with some of the servers, especially the ones who will booty-shake with us 😉

john and pati

Love it.

Needless to say, after a late night, it was a little rough to get motivated for month 2 of Insanity.. but I did it!

me

Um, yeah.

Month 2 is NOT for suckas. This is serious biznazz.

Action shots, courtesy of the pilot, who ate his breakfast and watched me sweat my face off and swear at Shaun T. I love Shaun T., but sometimes he’s mean… like today.

I couldn’t chug this orange juice fast enough when it was all over.

+ oats (I ate about half, because I’m positive they made them with milk, but needed the carbs)

+ smoked salmon and egg white omelet

We spent a lot of the day out reading on the beach and in the cabana, ate lunch, and were presented with these lovely coconut drinks.

coconut drinks

AMAZING 😀 I shared one with the pilot, and gave the other to Jeni, who just got here with her pilot!

We came back to the room to shower and get ready, and saw beautiful towel heart that housekeeping left on the bed.

We’re off to meet Jeni and her hubby for dinner, then watching fire dancers, limbo and line dancing at the pub.

Have a great night <3

I love your vacation posts because I’m totally living vicariously in the Bahamas through you, hahaha. But let’s be honest…when I was on my Spring vacation in Mexico I started out well (went to the gym a few times and ate “in moderation”) but that was all thrown out the window by about day 3 :/ You are truly motivating!

    • Fitnessista on May 18, 2010 at 8:47 am

yes- you can do it in a pretty small space!

  25. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine on May 18, 2010 at 7:38 am

These pictures make me so excited for my Insanity DVDs to arrive 🙂 I never order oats at hotels/restaurants because of the milk thing, I wish they offered soy milk!! Enjoy the last part of your trip!!

  26. Johnna on May 18, 2010 at 8:17 am

I have been debating between Insanity and P90X. Any tips or insights from anyone who has done both would be wonderful!

Gina – you gave away where you are staying but still can’t wait for the review since I’ve never been to that particular resort! Looks like the place is beautiful and your trip was all you’d hoped it would be.

Can’t wait for Summer Shape Up!

I’ve always been sceptical about trying out exercise videos because I was never sure that they would give me that good of a workout. But I think Insanity has changed my mind. It looks intense! 😀

  29. McPinks on May 18, 2010 at 8:49 am

Looks like you had a great time! Looking forward to the Summer Shape up plan as my current bootcamp is coming to an end and I need something new to shake me up!

Ohhh and I discovered almond butter and vanilla soy milk! – where have these been my whole life!

Woo!!! I can’t believe you did that workout after a night out! You are brave, girl! Looks like you’re having a fantastic trip 🙂

  33. Ryane on May 18, 2010 at 9:55 am

What a fun vacation – glad it’s been a blasty for you two!

Q – I know you had knee issues when you while you were dating Running. Does all the jumping/plyo affect your knees during Insanity? Or do you still ice/biofreeze?

    • Fitnessista on May 18, 2010 at 10:15 am

      hey girl,
before the half marathon, i never had knee issues. it was the running/overtraining that did it. since i stopped, i’ve had no probs 🙂 still ice occasionally and haven’t done the biofreeze in a while. glad to know i have it if i need it though! my joints are pretty used to plyo type stuff from dancing for so long
      xoxo

  39. GinaJ on May 19, 2010 at 10:18 am

Hey Gina, from Gina! I am also a pilot’s wife, but my hubby flies Army helicopters. We just had our first child in February, and my husband has been gone for the past year. : ( He will be home soon, and I am doing the best I can to exercise and lose weight for his arrival. I am sure that you know how it is to want to look and feel your best for the homecoming! After I was married seven years ago, I settled into a routine of laziness. I was a fitness junkie for years, and after marriage I basically let myself go. After this depressing funk I realize I have to take control of my life again, especially for my daughter.

I just want to tell you how inspirational I find your blog. I have spent the past week reading everything, and have become very educated and inspired! Your advice is very motivating for me. Thanks for all the tips and tricks, and I can’t wait for your summer workout!

    • Fitnessista on May 19, 2010 at 5:31 pm

      hey girl,
that’s AWESOME and i’m so happy your hubby will be home soon! i haven’t done a year (6 months) but i definitely know what you mean about wanting to look and feel your best when he gets home. thank you so much for reading and thank you for you and your husbands service and sacrifice for our country.
      xoxo

      • GinaJ on May 20, 2010 at 3:40 pm

Same to you and your pilot as well! Deployments are still hard no matter the length.
