Hey! Happy almost-Friday
How’s your morning going??
Last night, I went up to the squadron to hang out with everyone. When we know the guys are working late, we’ll usually decide on a dinner theme and have each of the wives bring components for it (like if we do meatball subs, some people will bring meatballs, others bring bread, desserts, sides, etc).
The theme for last night was BBQ
I was delegated the coleslaw, which I’ve never made before, so I consulted the Neely’s and found a *baller recipe*.
The only photo from the evening:
The bowl the coleslaw was in, and my cup from the Green-a-colada smoothie I sipped on. (I also munched bites of various cookies)
New wives’ shirt:
(The guys fly the A-10, which is also known as the “hog”)
B-fast this morning was two courses.
One:
Cullen juice minus the carrots (beet, apple and ginjah)
Two:
B-fast cookie dough cereal!
(I make a b-fast cookie sans banana, then add more almond milk, toppings and sliced banana. Each bite has a “cookie dough” bite- lurve)
I only have one training appointment today (!), which is actually a good thing because we’re having 20 people over for dinner on Saturday – the Pilot is commander of one of the flights and all of them are coming over.
The tentative menu:
-Goat cheese and vegetable Enchiladas (recipe from my brain)
-Green corn tamales (not using shrimp, and stuffing them with green chilies)
-Queso, guacamole and chips
-Pico and Chips (from Jeni)
-Sangria and Margaritas
I’m off to do the workout thang, grocery shop for ingredients and start making things ahead.
Have a great day! <3
Gina
Today’s tip: Experiment with different types of weights when you workout. Do you usually use dumbbells? Try a barbell. Resistance bands and kettleballs are a fun way to switch things up, too.

Ok I totally laughed out loud at this title!
Your menu sounds so good! I love tres leches cake – I see you are using Alton Brown’s recipe, but I have to tell you that I have made Pioneer Woman’s recipe and it is to die for. Never made Alton’s, but I’m sure it’s delicious too.
i adore using bands and bars in addition to hand held dumbells…great tip gina! it really helps make the workouts interesting
Cute shirt!!
The tip is great, too.
Good luck with the planning and prep for the dinner!

What a cute shirt! Sounds like you have a fun menu planned for Saturday, too! Can’t go wrong with Mexican food!!
Shirt is hilarious! And how did the coleslaw turn out?? I love love cole slaw but I haven’t ever made a very good batch at home…
it came out AWESOME. definitely try that recipe if it’s your first time making coleslaw– i just used half a cup of sugar instead of a cup and it was perfect
I’m digging into my first breakfast cookie as I type. Fabulous. And I <3 Sun Warrior (which I bought through your promo) … it rocks!!
I love the t-shirt. How sorority-like
Great tip! I have super lifting ADD so I always need to switch things up! For me, total body lifting classes (BodyPump, etc.) are the way to go
Cute shirt! And Loooove sangria and margaritas
XOXOX
Adding milk to a bfast cookie is such a fab idea! I’ve been craving cold cereal these days like crazy!
Very cute
I’m having so much fun making coleslaw sans mayo and with some kick. It’s such a great versatile side!
Desperate Hogwives – so funny! I love it! I hope having 20 people over for dinner goes well
if there’s anyone who could handle it, it’s you!
So was the coleslaw recipe good? I have to make coleslaw this weekend too and I’m using a Bobby Flay (B Fizzle?) recipe that had rave reviews.
it wasn’t just good, it was EXCELLENT. i promise
if you make it, cut the sugar in half though
Wow! 20 people? You sure have your work cut out for you! I’ve seen enough of your parties on here to know that you’ll be just fine, though
thank you <3
Love the shirt! Bfast cookie dough cereal sounds awesome, too. The menu sounds perfect for the dinner party – especially the guac and margaritas, yum.
awesomeee tshirts! and i love the sound of that menu! were you in sneaky blogger mode last night? muahaha.
yes, haha. i felt awkward taking pics of the guys’ food before they ate it
I’m glad the cole slaw turned out well! I love the t-shirts. For some reason when I read your title I immediately thought of Real Housewives, not Desperate Housewives — I got excited for RHoNJ talk!
haha love the shirt! That’s an awesome menu lady, they are going to love it!!
Breakfast cookies are soo good, I need to turn it into cereal fo sho.
love the t shirt!
I’ve been juicing at home for a week or so, and my go to is carrot apple lime ginger… I’ve been meaning to ask you… why the name “Cullen” juice? I have a feeling I’m missing something here
cullen —> from twilight —-> vampires —-> blood (because it looks like blood)
I THOUGHT SO !!
I have not read any / watched any of that… but I am aware of enough of it I suppose, that I somehow knew Cullen was someones name…
Menu for Saturday sounds great! Good luck with the prep work!!!!
This is kind of random, but have you ever tried Boku protein powder? I was using Sun Warrior protein powder, and just tried Boku and I like it much better. Just wanted to pass that along
no i haven’t but i’ll be on the lookout for it!
Baha that shirt is hilarious!
Your menu sounds amazing!! The only green tamales I’ve ever had are the Amy’s frozen meal version, which rocked my face. I can’t imagine how awesome the homemade version is!
Wow, cooking 20 people!! I think I’d have a mini panic attack, ha
I’ve never really made tres leches cake, or even really eaten it. Your party looks like it’s gonna be a smasher!
That menu sounds perfect!
love the shirt and I love your breakfast too! I need to make that for sure!!!
The menu for the dinner party looks amazing! Especially the sangria part : ) I love sangria so much!! Yum! I drink it a little too fast though and watch out, lol!
Have a great day! xoxo
Wow, my bro flew the A-10 back in the late 80′s got out right before desert storm when the A-10 was used quite a bit, mixed feelings as he would have liked going over and doing what he always trained to do, but not so much as he had a wife and young kids – went to work for Delta in Hotlanta. Like your shirts!
That shirt is awesome! And it looks really professionally done. So cute!
Good luck with the dinner! Sounds like it’s going to be delicious.
that dinner menu looks FANTASTIC!!! and that shirt is super cute!! have a great day shopping for your ingredients
Girl you’re having 20 people over for dinner?!!! That kind of thing makes me nervous. More than like a dozen and I am like whoa….this is serious! But I know you’ve got skillz and will be cool as a cucumber doing backflips in the kitchen with heels on and a smile and a hair flip, making it look super easy, but of course
Can I just say this? I love your breakfast cookie meals!
your menu sounds great – those will be some very well fed guests!
i love using kettlebells in my workouts, especially for windmills. i did a few sets yesterday and my obliques are in AGONY today! (but in a good way!)
The party and especially the food sounds great. Looks like it will be a great time.
Oh my gosh, cookie dough cereal?! Love it! You’re so creative. And that dinner menu sounds FAB! Beyond. Can I come?
of course!
I like that heart bowl!
Looks like a awesome menu… I love sticking to themes! I was really intrigued by the cake, so I clicked on the link. Holy sugar and eggs! It’s pretty indulgent. Are you planning on modifying?
nope, i’m just going to have a tiny serving to taste it
I love entertaining…so much fun! Looks like it’s going to be a delicious menu!
aw I love that shirt! How cute!
The shirt is so funny. That is a lot of people to entertain! Good thing you are spectacular at entertaining people.
Sounds like an awesome menu! And loving that cookie dough cereal!
Ya know one of the things I love most about your blog? Your attention to detail. You took a PICTURE of the BOWL that your cole slaw was in. THAT is COOL! I do that in my new blog, too. Hoping it will have as many readers as yours someday yonder….! Never really realized how much FUN keeping a daily blog is. Already TOTALLY addicted.
Anyway, thanks for the great posts. I enjoy them thoroughly!
I love that shirt! My husband is in the Army and at one time he held a job in which they referred to themselves as Hogs. Good luck with your dinner party, I’m sure everything will come out just wonderfully.
i’m a little surprised you picked that coleslaw recipe! i wouldn’t picture you making anything with mayonnaise in it
hahah i didn’t pick it- they told me to make coleslaw, so i made coleslaw
Haha that shirt is hilarious! Love it!
You MUST post the recipe for the goat cheese and veggie enchiladas after you make them. They sound fabulous.

Your menu sounds absolutely delish!! Will your table fit one more? !!
I definitely need to try the breakfast cookie dough cereal! I think that will be a project for next week…
