Return of Pinkie

Hi  guys! Hope you’ve had a lovely night <3 We’re FINALLY on the way to Hotlanta after dropping the puppers off and packing.. I was a packing slacker today 😉

Pinkie is back!

pinkie

The Best Buy peeps had her for quite a while (the fan was broken and the screen was cracking) but she’s good as new 🙂

Snackage:

I really love the Glass Dharma straws.

Not only are they classy, but they allow me to get every smoothie sip out of the Vita-mix 🙂

me

The pilot was like “that’s not the first time you’ve done that, huh?”. Nope 🙂

Today’s workout was legs (weights) and TurboFire (EZ 45). The 45 EZ is my favorite workout so far—you’re moving the WHOLE time. No HIIT drills, but your heart rate stays up up up and the choreography is a lot of fun.

Sweaty workout pics are kinda gross, but this is for those of ya’ll who have been wondering if TurboFire is a good workout:

sweaty

It will make you sweat like a monkey.

We’re getting some food To-Go at Ruby Tuesdays and getting back on the road. We have some shenanigans in store for tomorrow’s AM post… I think/hope you’ll like it 😀

See ya from Atlanta!

xoxo,

Gina

Something to talk about: What’s your favorite road trip game?? We could use some ideas.. we’ve got 3 hours left! And do you pack in advance or throw stuff in before you leave? Usually I’m very organized and make a list.. didn’t happen today 🙂

Can’t wait to get my turbofire!!

  2. Sarra H on July 28, 2010 at 8:16 pm

whoa can’t wait to try fire EZ 45!!! one road trip game I always play is trying to name every food you can think of with each letter of the alphabet (like A: apples, avocados, etc., then move on to the next letter) yes it’s lame as hell, but it passes the time haha 🙂

  3. Tina on July 28, 2010 at 8:19 pm

Love the sweat! I sweat like that all the time from workouts and love it.

Best travel game = license plate game. Try to find license plates from as many states as possible.

  4. Jessica @ Rawtumn on July 28, 2010 at 8:23 pm

Woot! I have my first straw from Glass Dharma currently on the way! Can’t wait! I go through so many plastic straws that it was definitely time to cut back on the waste. I feel so much better about it already. Glad your lappy is back and good as new! =D

  5. Laury @ thefitnesdish on July 28, 2010 at 8:24 pm

Shweaty Shtinky Workout shirts are the best!

My fav game in the car is “name that tune” you try to hum or whistle a song, and the other person guesses….my hubby has NO rhythm, his hums are always totally off…the best was when he was trying to whistle “blame it on he al al al ala alllcohool”–you;d thing thaty would be a dead ringer…nope, I couldn’t guess it :/

  6. Kellie on July 28, 2010 at 8:26 pm

    …AGREE…Turbofire is amazing! 🙂

  7. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on July 28, 2010 at 8:35 pm

I love a hot sweaty chick 🙂 Glad to hear it’s a good workout!!! I never doubted it but you’re living proof!

Vita + Glass Dharma…I have both, and yes, totally gonna snag that idea! I have a tiny scraper for getting under my Vita blades for solid stuff but never thought of the GD straws..you are genius!

Packing and lists….yeah I used to. Now, I just wing it and store everything in my brain cells. Sometimes that works better than others 🙂

    HAVE FUN!!!!

  8. SaraK on July 28, 2010 at 8:35 pm

Alphabet game! Race to find signs that start with each letter of the alphabet in order. (Arby’s, Boat, Campground, etc)

  9. Vanessa on July 28, 2010 at 8:36 pm

You could always resort to the classic “Slug Bug” game! But I like the food/alphabet game Sarra H mentioned. =)

I’ve noticed that you are indeed sweating like crazy in some of the pics you’ve posted. I don’t sweat as much as you do, even when I feel like I’m getting a crazy intense workout. I’m sure TurboFire and Insanity are in a league all their own, but I guess I’m just disappointed with my lack of sweat. LOL. Maybe I’m just not there yet?

  10. Shanna @ Shanna Like Banana on July 28, 2010 at 8:38 pm

I get that sweaty too! Loves it!

    Play “would you rather…” 🙂

  11. Kelly on July 28, 2010 at 8:45 pm

My favorite road trip came out on a trip from Montana to Houston…long drive! Somewhere in the middle of Wyoming my friend and I played the “Kevin Bacon Connection” but we each picked an actress/actor or someone famous and then had to connect them to eachother with movies and tv…very entertaining! Have fun!

  12. Kim on July 28, 2010 at 8:49 pm

We use to play The Movie Game, my Mom made it up while we drove from Alabama to our new duty station in South Carolina. One person has to describe a movie and at any time you can yell out your guess of the movies name.

    For example

Me: the movie is takes place in New York City and fashion is a big part of it.
    You: Confessions of a Shopaholic
    Me: nope, wrong! Lol 🙂
    Me: There are five friends…..and
    You: Sex and The City!!!!
    Me: Woohoo you are awesome!

  13. Jess on July 28, 2010 at 8:51 pm

I Keep a list on my phone of things to pack—I’m always so afraid of leaving something important behind! Go figure everyone always asks if they can use my phone charger…

As a kid, we used to pass the time on long car trips playing Batty License Plates—coming up with funny phrases based on the letters of other cars’ plates—and punch buggy, of course. My mom drives a Beetle now, and I always wonder if people are punching each other on the arm whenever I’m in her car.

  14. Emily @ Emilyeatsclean on July 28, 2010 at 8:56 pm

Have fun in ATL….can’t wait to read about your adventures! 🙂

  15. Holly @ couchpotatoathlete on July 28, 2010 at 8:59 pm

Have a safe trip! I just love car rides to talk about the future, places we’d like to travel, or to just talk about stories from our childhood.

TurboFire is an awesome workout — look at all that sweat girl, thats what my shirts look like!

Can’t wait for the shenanigans to begin!

  16. April @ Crazy Fabulous Life on July 28, 2010 at 9:08 pm

You could sing obnoxious songs and see who annoys the other fastest 🙂

  17. Lauren @ BIOCHEMISTA on July 28, 2010 at 9:09 pm

haha, TOO funny — I posted a TurboFire sweaty pic last night! Yep, I look the same 😉

  18. Naomi on July 28, 2010 at 9:23 pm

im doing that one tomorrow! i just watched it a bit to get familiar with it! i cannot freakin WAIT! I think I get more sweaty with turbo fire than with insanity…you really NEVER stop moving!!

haha I do the same thing when I make a smooothie 🙂

  19. Christina @ Food.Fun.Fabulous on July 28, 2010 at 9:33 pm

I have that same computer. Apparently the broken fan is a problem with the model and mine is off getting repaired this week. It’s been making noise for months but I just had too much work to give it up until now! I do love having a pink laptop though 🙂

  20. Katie @ Healthy Heddleston on July 28, 2010 at 9:34 pm

Every time you talk about Turbo Fire, I realllly want to get it! It’s on my birthday wish list!!

  21. Anya @ Fitness & Sunshine on July 28, 2010 at 9:36 pm

I also make a list so I know what to bring. 🙂 Turbo Fire looks like a BLAST!

  22. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on July 28, 2010 at 9:41 pm

That’s BRILLIANT to use the glass straw to get to the bottom of the Vita-Mix! I always feel bad wasting any drop of my smoothie, too!

I might need to put TurboFire on my wish list! 😀

  23. Faith @ LovelyAsCharged on July 28, 2010 at 9:49 pm

Ah, another Vaio user! I love mine 🙂 I like to think that she loves me as well…she’s so well behaved compared to the Dell’s and IBM’s of the past!

  24. Suzanne on July 28, 2010 at 9:50 pm

My fave car game isn’t so much a game as a topic suggestion that always produces fun convos. The q is: what would your dream house be like? And I’m talking dream big. For me, it’s a multi-story tree house, which would include, among other things, an open-air bedroom, a spiral staircase leading to an observatory, a trampoline room, napping corners on each floor, all kinds of fun workout toys….you get the idea 🙂 have a fun and safe trip!

  25. Alyssa @ bride to be fit on July 28, 2010 at 9:54 pm

“would you rather” …. My fiancé and I could play it for hours!!

    • Fitnessista on July 29, 2010 at 8:42 am

we played that one last night- it was fun 🙂

  26. jessica @ how sweet on July 28, 2010 at 9:58 pm

I always make a list but I never pack before. I’m leaving for vaca on friday and don’t have one thing ready to go!

  27. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on July 28, 2010 at 10:05 pm

This road trip game assumes you have satellite radio. We just flip stations and see who knows the words to each song. Somehow we end up on the 90s station for the longest amount of time. Reminiscing.

  28. Jennifer on July 28, 2010 at 10:17 pm

I don’t really play road games, but when I’m in the car for a long period of time, I would begin to sing obnoxiously. Then I’d start quoting lines from selected Disney movies and “face/off”. In terms of packing, I like to pack in advance, but then on the day I’m supposed to leave, I have a tendency to take everything out of my suitcase and re-pack everything. I’m actually leaving for Disney World in a week, so I have to get started on packing! And I love it when a fitness DVD/program makes you sweat like crazy! Time to start saving for Turbo Fire!

  29. katie on July 28, 2010 at 10:39 pm

Wow I need to try that workout! I always mean to pack ahead of time but does it always happen? Nah.

  30. Megan (Braise The Roof) on July 28, 2010 at 10:43 pm

Haha the sweat speaks for itself! You’re making me really want to invest in some Turbofire action!

  31. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on July 28, 2010 at 11:38 pm

I try to pack in advance, but if I’m going to my cabin for the weekend I’ll throw clothes in there and hope that I didn’t forget anything important like underwear… I’ll admit I’ve done that once *shudders* there were a lot of light loads of laundry that weekend…

  32. Jessica (Fit and Clean) on July 28, 2010 at 11:48 pm

I HAVE to pack in advance, with a list because of all the kids 🙂 If I don’t, I end up at a walmart buying cheap clothes and whatever we forgot. Unfortunately, even the times I had the list and packed we still ended up at walmart. hahaha!

  33. Allison @ Food For Healing on July 29, 2010 at 12:01 am

i have to pack in advance, and make a list, and look over it a million times, i stress out thinking that i will forget something important.

  34. Alexa@Running the Road to Recovery on July 29, 2010 at 1:26 am

Every time I see one of your smoothies with a glass dharma straw, you make me want them a little bit more! They seem like a real pain to clean, and that’s the last thing that stands in between me and a large purchase 🙂

    • Fitnessista on July 29, 2010 at 8:42 am

nope, i just rinse them after i use them and put the straws by the utensils in the dishwasher

  35. Romy on July 29, 2010 at 1:38 am

I’m glad your Pinky is as good as new 🙂 I always make a list before a trip! Not necessarily for two days…above that, I need my little list to be sure that I got everything 😉 And I always pack in advance because then I see what’s missing or what needs to be bought!

By the way, you look fantastic Gina!!!

  36. Katie on July 29, 2010 at 7:46 am

WOW! Turbofire is no joke for sure!

SO glad you got your computer back!!! Yay!! I know you are relieved and happy!!

I hope you and the pilot have a great trip to Atlanta!!

  37. Kristin (Cook, Bake and Nibble) on July 29, 2010 at 7:47 am

I always make a list and pack in advance. Totally type-a!

And I always get the last bit out of the blender 😛

We are heading out on a 2 week roadtrip this weekend. I put out my suitcase at the beginning of the week and throw things in as I think of it. I pack the day before and hope for the best 🙂
Usually my husband drives (I have a lead foot) and I read magazine articles to him.

I love playing 20 questions where one person thinks of a person/place/thing and the other person has to ask questions to guess it!

  40. jenna on July 29, 2010 at 8:47 am

i need those straws…and that vita mix!:)

glad your computer it back and running well! Tech problems can be such a headache! Have fun in hotlanta

  41. Annie D. @ Annie's Simple Life on July 29, 2010 at 10:31 am

YAY sweating like a monkey! I need to do that… I haven’t sweated much lately.

  42. stephanie@Avocado Nation on July 29, 2010 at 1:13 pm

I totally want to try Turbofire. It looks like a great workout. Do you have to be super strong for it?

    • Fitnessista on July 29, 2010 at 5:20 pm

nahh, your cardio endurance needs to be high though

  43. Andrea @ Thin Thighs & Sweet Potato Fries on July 29, 2010 at 2:39 pm

Thanks for the Turbo Fire heads-up! That kind of sweating is exactly what I look for in a workout! 😀

  44. Emily on July 29, 2010 at 4:48 pm

You could always play Padiddle. You’re driving with someone and whenever you see a car with a burnt-out headlight, you yell out “Padiddle!” The more violent method gives the caller the right to punch the other person, the slightly less violent method has the caller punch the roof of the car, and there is a variation called strip padiddle where everyone but the caller must remove one article of clothing. Fun stuff… heehee 🙂
And there’s always Never Have I Ever but I think that holding up ten fingers might be hazardous for driving.

  45. Thanks for the sweaty pic. You sold me on TurboFire for sure. 🙂

  46. Miriam on July 30, 2010 at 2:20 pm

I’d like if you can give me the mesquite lime chicken recipe…!! I am not eating chicken but I just started dating a carnivore and I’d like to (try to) impress him with a recipe like that! lol For some reason, since I banned meat from my regime I am having a hard time cooking it for other and been inspired while doing it!! Thank you! 🙂
