Squashy

Hi guys 🙂 How are ya? So glad you guys liked the Dance Trance video– it was SO much fun 🙂

Hope you’ve had a fun Halloween so far!

vampie blogger

Muahaha.

I’m dressed as a sleep-deprived Zombie– I was up all night with a sick Bella :/ Yoga was skipped today in case an emergency vet visit needed to be had, but it looks like she’s on the mend after a meal of chicken and rice *knock on wood*

Some of today’s eats:

soup_picnik

B-nut squash soup

Snack plate:

snack

(+ 482 more chips.. Garden of Eatin Red Hot: rocks my face off)

and the foodie star of the day:

bnut_picnik

Stuffed butternut squash and greens 🙂

bnut (2)

The butternut stuffing was based on my favorite lasagna and was a mix of:

-butternut squash + sweet potato

-quinoa

-onion

-wilted arugula

-sundried tomatoes

-goat cheese

and seasonings 🙂

It’s an easy recipe but has a few steps- I’ll sure to post the full thing for ya sometime within the next day or so

stuffing

I’m off to snuggle on the couch and finish reading Good To Great before calling it a night.

Have a lovely evening and I’ll see you in the morning!

xoxo,

Gina

Something to talk about: What’s your fave Halloween movie? Do you like creepy movies? I’m a big chicken when it comes to scary movies but as far as Halloween movies go, Hocus Pocus is pretty awesome 🙂

Hocus Pocus is always the winner, hands down. Though the Disney Channel Halloweentown movies were pretty sweet as well…

    • Kyla on October 31, 2010 at 9:49 pm

      Oh lord, I loooooved Halloweentown!

  6. Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life on October 31, 2010 at 9:03 pm

  8. holly @ couchpotatoathlete on October 31, 2010 at 9:05 pm

I love your pic! What a riot. I’m glad Bella is feeling better!

My favorite Halloween pic: Ernest Scared Stupid…I’m kidding…that movie is so dumb. I like regular old Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis 🙂

  9. Tiffany (Stuffed With Fluff) on October 31, 2010 at 9:06 pm

I love Hocus Pocus. I DVR’d when it was first on a week ago and have been re-watching it over and over all week!

“You’ve messed with the great and powerful Max! Now you must suffer the consequences! I’m going to summon the burning rain of death!”

    Hope Bella feels better soon!

  10. Nicole on October 31, 2010 at 9:08 pm

That stuffed b-nut squash looks delish!

I loooove Hocus Pocus! I have fond memories of seeing it in the theater with my brother and cousins. I remember my mom asking in the car afterward, with paranoia in her voice, “Do you guys know what a virgin is?”. Haha! I used to be a scary movie buff, but I’m a skeerdy cat now. Now I like kiddie movies like The Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride.

    • Fitnessista on October 31, 2010 at 9:10 pm

lol! that’s always hilarious and awkward when moms do that
“i had to wait 300 years for a virgin to light a candle” 🙂
ahhhhhh! how did i forget about nightmare before christmas? LOVE that movie

  11. Kim on October 31, 2010 at 9:09 pm

  12. Erica on October 31, 2010 at 9:10 pm

  13. Laury @ thefitnessdish on October 31, 2010 at 9:10 pm

Aww hopw lillte Bella feels better!

Halloween is my favorite….watched all of them this weekend, lol. I am so in the mood for Hocus Pucus now, that is such a fun movie! I never see it On Demand 🙁

I am kinda sick of the slasher flicks at this point, could use a fun cute Halloween movie!

  14. Paige on October 31, 2010 at 9:11 pm

“Amuck amuck amuck!” Hahaha my favorite Halloween movie ever. I used to love scary movies when I was a kiddo but now that I’m older and have to fend for myself in the big, scary world I’m much more of a wuss about them.

  15. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is on October 31, 2010 at 9:31 pm

I’m with you on Hocus Pocus, I hate other scary movies!

  16. Carly on October 31, 2010 at 9:54 pm

  18. Barb on October 31, 2010 at 10:10 pm

  19. Teresa on October 31, 2010 at 10:31 pm

Ugh, bummer about poor Bella, and you having to be up all night with her :(. But you sure made up for it with that delicious butternut stuffing. Foodgasmic! I’m totally going to have to try that!

I LOVE Hocus Pocus! It’s been too damn long since I watched it, so thank you so much for reminding me!

    Happy Halloween!

  20. monicanelsonfitness on October 31, 2010 at 10:34 pm

Love Hocus Pocus too. I dislike scary movies. I am a HUGE Potter fan!
I loved your dance trance from the other night!! 🙂 I wish they had that here as I would totally do it, maybe they do and I justt do not know.

Looks like some good meals too.

    Happy Halloween!

Love Hocus Pocus. I teach esl in Korea and used it as a teaching aid to teach about Halloween.
The students are so intrigued by Halloween and they wish they had a holiday where they got free candy 🙂

  24. Liz @ Tip Top Shape on October 31, 2010 at 11:18 pm

Hocus Pocus is good but my favorite is probably Practical Magic. That was on ABC Family today and it made my day!

  25. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on October 31, 2010 at 11:22 pm

    Love that pic of you…LOL!!

So sorry about Bella..glad to hear she’s on the mend. Hope you get some sleep tonite, mom 🙂

I HATE scary movies…I scare easily and am prone to really vivid nightmares and the last thing I can handle is scary movies..no way!

Happy Hween and have a great week. I can’t believe I will see you in less than a week! And 350 others! ha!

    🙂

  26. Christin L. on November 1, 2010 at 12:01 am

Happy to hear your doggy baby is feeling better… that chicken and rice diet for sick puppies is magical!

  27. hippierunner on November 1, 2010 at 12:03 am

Glad Bella’s doing well now! I’m a scaredy cat and can’t watch scary movies because I have a crazy imagination that often runs wild so if I saw anything, I’d have nightmares afterward! Coraline freaked me out! and Harry Potter is as scary as it gets for me!

  28. Allison @ Food For Healing on November 1, 2010 at 12:33 am

i was very disappointed with the lack of halloween shows on tv this year, i love hocus pocus, but it wasn’t even on tv!

hope bella is okay! shes such a little angel.

  29. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on November 1, 2010 at 3:02 am

I am such a Halloweentown girl! Pretty much any other Halloween movie that came out before that scared the living daylights out of me. Including a Mary-Kate and Ashley one! hehe.

  30. Megan @ Healthy Hoggin' on November 1, 2010 at 3:35 am

I love Hocus Pocus! I remember seeing it in the theater with my cousins when I was younger! I’m pretty much a scaredy-cat when it comes to scary movies, too, but my husband will drag me to some anyway… I just close my eyes! Two of our favorite Halloween movies are “Silver Bullet” and “Monster Squad”– they’re so fun, we watch them every year!! 😀

    Hope Bella is feeling better!

  31. Little Bookworm on November 1, 2010 at 6:51 am

That photo of the Sanderson sisters is funny. I saw a photo of them the other day with a caption stating, “The Charmed Reunion 2050.” Funny.

  36. Erin on November 1, 2010 at 8:04 am

Hocus Pocus is my all-time favorite, but I didn’t get to see it this year. 🙁

  37. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on November 1, 2010 at 8:23 am

I am terrrrrrible at watching scary movies.. I remember when I was really young and I watched the 6th Sense with my mum. We were laying on our pull-out bed which has about a 1-foot space underneath it. When the movie was over I was scared to step down onto the floor because I’d just watched the scene where the dead girl grabs Haley Joel Osment’s ankles.. bahh it still gives me shivers!

  38. CaSaundra on November 1, 2010 at 8:40 am

LOVE that vampire photo–so cute!! And fun!

  39. Sabrina on November 1, 2010 at 9:07 am

    Apparently wine counts as sugar.

    Que horror!

I was told I should choose between sweets or wine at Foodbuzz. I am thinking I can’t do that and am just going to do my best but have fun without worrying too much.

    You?

    • Fitnessista on November 1, 2010 at 9:55 am

      BAH.
i was trying to tell myself it wasn’t haha.
i think wine > sweets … but we’ll see. i think i’m going to just pick and choose with what i’m feeling and try to take it easy

  40. Mo on November 1, 2010 at 9:45 am

So sorry your pupper was sick but glad she is feeling better. I have a love/hate relationship with being scared. The movie that absolutely got to me was Paranormal Activity . . . I made my husband take the dog out for his last bit of business after watching that one – I wouldn’t go out in the dark. Take care – get some sleep.

  41. skinnyrunner on November 1, 2010 at 10:25 am

man i remember hocus pocus, great movie. i get way too scared to watch anything scary.
husband keeps wanting me to go watch paranormal activity 2 with him, heck no!

  42. Mary @ Bites and Bliss on November 1, 2010 at 10:51 am

My favorite Halloween movie is Halloweentown, the 1st one. They play it every year for the 13 nights of Halloween on ABC family and I look forward to it everytime! 😛 Other than that, I looovvee me a good scary movie!

  43. Diana (Soap & Chocolate) on November 1, 2010 at 11:05 am

Hey I’m sorry to hear about not-as-fun news from the doc, but I guess it’s always better to know what’s up so you can treat yourself right. Also sorry to hear about your puppy. Here’s hoping everyone’s back to 100% asap.

Hocus Pocus is pretty much my speed as far as “scary” movies go too. 🙂

  44. Camille @ La Bella Vita on November 1, 2010 at 11:07 am

Oh I love that movie. In fact, I watched it recently on TV. Ps. Love your blog, I have been reading it for a months now!
