20 Days of Detox

Hi friends! How’s your V-day been?

roses

(Pilot, you’re outta control.. and I love you)

So glad you guys liked the love story 🙂 I had a lovely Valentine’s Day with my madre, spent shopping and followed by the King’s Speech. We LOVED it. An excellent, well-made film, and Colin Firth is very nice to look at 😉

Late lunch courtesy of Chipoddle:

Chicken salad with black beans and guac, hot salsa + pico, romaine

Since I’m on day 22 of the 30 day Dr Detox, I thought it would be a good time to for a lil update.

Days 11-20 were a huge challenge for me.

I could have fish, but no nuts or seeds yet, and wanted sweets with every part of my soul. Without goat cheese or nut butter on top of no sugar was a beast, and it made me crave treats more than ever. I selectively had a few tasty delights… on more than one occasion 😉 It wasn’t worth making myself crazy, ya know?

The cookies from the Twins (and the brownie bites) didn’t stand a chance.

They were delicious 🙂

It’s enjoyable now because I’m at the end of the tunnel (30 days are almost up!), and my eats are pretty much right back to where they used to be minus the grains (quinoa is the only grain on the plan). By having more freedom with my eats, I’m sure the cravings for sweets will be less beastly.

Saturday night, I will be having something gooey and chocolaty and a giant glass of vino 😉

The perks of the detox so far:

– I feel great this week. Maybe it’s because I shied away form the plan for a couple of treats? 😉

– This plan has forced me to become extra creative with my eats, step out of the box, and become very, very good friends with quinoa.

Quinoa muffin tops, anyone?

Or pancakes?

Or pizza?

Maybe a wrap?

-I’ve also experienced with castor oil this past week.. which was an interesting experience

castor

In an almond-shell, you soak the wool flannel with the castor oil and make a pack with it on your stomach (more towards the right side). The pack is secured with plastic wrap (which I just wrapped around my torso… thank goodness the roomies weren’t around), and you let it soak for about an hour. You can use the castor oil with a heating pad and it’s super relaxing and therapeutic. Castor oil is excellent for detoxification and is a multi-purpose little gem – read more about it *here*

-While the detox has been a better experience than I anticipated, I’m excited for it to be over. I’ve never enjoyed having others tell me how to eat and knowing *you shouldn’t have something* will just make you want it more. This is why it’s so important to give your body what it needs and craves without any rules.

Other re-caps:

Lovely lady! I tried to place a Nuttzo order and my total was $40 for two jars…is that correct? I held off thinking that something was wrong.

I love all of your clothes. I just bought a teal colored silky dress from Target; spring has almost sprung. It’s been in the mid to upper 70’s here too. Wahoo.

    Ohhh good job pilot!

In all my years as a florist I rarely cried. But almost every time (minus one extra sad funeral) it was when a soldier was calling from abroad to order something special for his loved one (valentines, birthdays, anniversaries, mothers day) those were the most precious calls I got!
