Wilted

Morning friends!

flowers

Looks like itโ€™s time to say goodbye to my Valentine roses from the Pilot. Throwing away flowers is always so sad! I usually toss them as soon as they start to wilt, but held onto those ones a little longer ๐Ÿ˜‰

Some recent eats:

smoothie

Peach protein and goat milk kefir smoothie

Hummmmmus and bell

bell

Soup and [massaged kale] salad:

soup

and this morning, b-fast cookie dough cereal.

cereal

LOTS to do today! Guess Iโ€™ll start packing since I leave on Friday ๐Ÿ˜‰ Also, itโ€™s my first lululemon trunk show later today, which should be a blasty, then teaching tonight.

Enjoy your day and Iโ€™ll see ya later with a Readerโ€™s Request!

Going to wake up smushy faceโ€ฆ

Gina

I don’t like watching flowers wilt either, but I get sad having to throw them away! Have fun at your Lululemon trunk show – I can’t wait to hear more about it!

  12. Tina on February 23, 2011 at 10:52 am

I do the same thing and keep flowers as long as I can! Supposedly if you spray them with hair spray they last longer.

  13. Katy @ RecipeCan on February 23, 2011 at 10:58 am

Let the flowers dry out and make some pretty decorations ๐Ÿ™‚

When I was in high school I used to hang up the roses my boyfriend gave me and dry them. My walls used to be covered and it drove my mom nuts!

    • Fitnessista on February 23, 2011 at 12:06 pm

haha! i used to do the same thing- there were hanging flowers EVERYWHERE

  18. Donna on February 23, 2011 at 12:06 pm

Hi Gina! I’ve heard about your blog for a long time now but I don’t know why it took me so long to check it out! I love it! And, we have quite a lot in common too…I’m a military wife (Army) too and we just moved to Sierra Vista, AZ recently (which is about an hour and a half from Tucson)! We visit Tucson frequently to get our fill of a “real” city….there’s not much to Sierra Vista! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Anyway I look forward to reading more of your blog and getting some great recs for places to visit in Tucson!

  22. LisaG on February 23, 2011 at 12:37 pm

I hope you are meeting up with the Pilot!!

  23. Ashley @ Cupcakes & Combat Boots on February 23, 2011 at 12:53 pm

Well I left a comment but for some reason it’s not showing up, so I’m going to do it again! Gina, I’ve heard about your blog for a long time now and I have no idea why it took me so long to check it out. I am in love already! Also, we have quite a bit in common…I’m also a military wife (Army) and we recently moved to Sierra Vista, AZ (about an hour and a half from Tucson)! We visit Tucson often to get our fill for a “real” city…there isn’t much to Sierra Vista! ๐Ÿ™‚ Anyway I look forward to reading more!

My roommate likes to dry all the flowers she gets from her boyfriend. They still turn black but it’s nice to keep them. What’s a lululemon trunk show?

  25. Laura @ prettylittlewords on February 23, 2011 at 1:16 pm

Heheheh you have to wake up your pup? Must be a sound sleeper!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  29. Michelle on February 23, 2011 at 3:20 pm

I hate throwing away flowers fro my husband, too! I pressed one of my anniversary roses in a journal this year… I just couldn’t let them go ๐Ÿ™‚

  30. victoria on February 23, 2011 at 3:32 pm

put a rubber band around the stems and hang them upside down until they dry…they become beautiful decorations…

  31. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on February 23, 2011 at 3:44 pm

I’m not quite sure what a trunk show is, but if it involves Lululemon, it must be good! Have fun! ๐Ÿ˜€

  32. rebecca lustig on February 23, 2011 at 5:07 pm

i always get very vivid images when i read ‘massaged kale’ haha!

    • Fitnessista on February 23, 2011 at 11:29 pm

i get a little creepy with it. just sayin. haha

  33. CampingGirl on February 23, 2011 at 6:34 pm

I have only been to one Lululemon trunk show but it was awesome!

  34. Susanne on February 23, 2011 at 8:08 pm

I hate parting with beautiful flowers, too. I had to toss my roses from Valentine’s Day. They were looking pretty sad . . . all dried up, wilted and losing their petals.
    I love Bella’s smushy face!

  35. Christin@purplebirdblog on February 23, 2011 at 8:17 pm

That smoothie looks so creamy and perfect!

  36. Kathie on February 23, 2011 at 9:08 pm

i always find it so sad to trash wilted flowers also. =(

  37. Kelly on February 23, 2011 at 9:21 pm

I hate throwing flowers away too! As the roses start to wilt you should hang them upside down for a few weeks and let them dry out. By hanging them it makes them stand upright when you put them back in the vas:) They look really pretty! I did it once with two dozen roses and i’ve had them for about 3 years and they still look beautiful:)

  38. Katie on February 23, 2011 at 10:30 pm

    Hi Gina,

Just wanted to say I love your blog! I don’t comment much bc commenting is blocked for me at work (where I do most of my blog reading…oops :))

Love the song! I tried out zumba a month or so back after reading so many good things from you and others and am obsessed now, it is so much fun!

My next website stop will be to vote for Fitnessista for the Womens Health Blogs!

    • Fitnessista on February 23, 2011 at 11:13 pm

voted for you! i was wondering if the history of your eating habits post is a reader’s request. if it isn’t, can i request it?! i think with NEDA week and everything you would serve as a great example of how one alters their eating habits to fit such an active lifestyle- still struggle with this myself!

  40. Rachel @ Healthy Teacher on February 23, 2011 at 11:11 pm

bfast cookie dough cereal sounds delish.

  41. Diana on February 24, 2011 at 10:09 am

We do Danza Kudora in Zumba class, but I really just like listening to it. It’s such a fun song! ๐Ÿ™‚
