Grocery Cardio

Heyyyy 😀 How are you? Hope you’re having an amazing day so far. Thank you so much for your kind words and home buying tips! Like I said, ya’ll always have fabulous advice.

I’m going to go ahead and start off by saying that Hot Tub Time Machine was not my fave movie.

In all fairness, I gave it about 10 minutes before I called it quits and decided to tackle my inbox and take a nap.

The Pilot LOVES it. We definitely have different tastes in movies 😉

This morning, I was really excited to check out a new-to-me cardio sculpt and tone class. When I got to the studio, the parking lot was blocked off for the street fair (which starts tomorrow!) and I couldn’t find a parking spot for the life of me :/

So instead, I ended up at this one place:

whole paycheck

Whole Paycheck is totally cardio- my heart rate was up the whole time 😉 Heh heh.

I grabbed some macaroon-making supplies + stuff we were out of:

groceries

Chicken (the Pilot requested *this* stuffed chicken), fancy goat cheese (Bucheron is the good stuff) and a new-to-me breakfast grain: brown rice farina

groceries (2)

The stats were fairly similar to oats, so I thought it would be fun to give it a whirl for today’s b-fast.

stats

I cooked the brown rice cereal on medium heat, with water, almond milk, sea salt and some organic frozen strawberries

texture

(The texture was similar to steel-cut oats or cream of wheat)

Enjoyed with cinnamon, a crumbled amazeball

bfast (2)

and tea 🙂

We’re off to meet with the realtor and have the dadoo check out the place. He builds custom homes, so if there’s something wrong with it, he’ll find it 😀 We just feel comfortable having him go through it before we continue the contract, negotiation, inspection, etc shebang. While we’re there I’ll also take more pics to post.

After that, gym time and dinner at a friend’s house!

See ya later today <3

xoxo

Gina

Something to think:

All men dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible.

I love the blog post that you linked to. I agree that we all need to listen to our bodies and that it might take different things for different people to feel 100% healthy. I’m glad I read your blog because it inspires me to do what is right for me. 🙂

that is exactly what i intend to do <3 different things work for different people and it's up to everyone to become educated, experiment and decide what's right for them.

Haha sometimes grocery shopping is my cardio for the day as well. And hey, I think all that heavy lifting of cans and produce counts as weight training too. 😉

I actually wanted to see that movie, but only b/c I love John Cusack. However, might have to skip it now. So excited you guys found a house, and I hope it all works out. Love knowing that you’re going to be in AZ permanently, and hopefully I can get in some Gina time next time we’re out there. We must meet at True Food as I have yet to go there. Looking forward to it…honestly, I’m about ready to book a flight to Phoenix right now…soooo missing the beautiful sunshine.

Hi Gina, I was wondering if you ever shop at the Food Conspiracy Co-Op in Tucson. Co-ops usually sell the same products as Whole Foods, but it is so much better to shop from a place that is owned by it’s customer’s and not by a large corporation.

    • Fitnessista on April 1, 2011 at 1:43 am

i’ve never heard of it- where is it located?

      • Ashley on April 1, 2011 at 11:18 am

North 4th Avenue? I don’t even live in Arizona but I know about all these co-ops cause I work at one and they list all the other ones on a poster at my work. I really recommend checking it out. Co-ops do a lot to support each of their city’s community and the local farms that surround them. It is owned by the customers who decide to buy a share of the store for $180. So they aren’t all about profit, just about providing a place for the community to buy healthful foods. All of their produce is organic and about 80% of it is always local.

As another recent gluten-free girl, I love brown rice cereal. Try with banana, cinnamon and walnuts and vanilla rice milk. Yum! Oooh or coconut and cacao nibs … now I’m hungry

I bought whole wheat farina from Trader Joe’s yesterday morning and had it for breakfast this morning. Delicious. I’ll have to try the brown rice one!

I agree about Hot Tub Time Machine. It was def. a guy movie.

  14. Valerie @ FreshMutz on April 1, 2011 at 10:55 am

I give Hot Tub Time Machine two thumbs down. Thanks for the review on the BR Farina I saw it last time was has at the Wholey Place and was super curious. Growing up, I loved farina. My mom served it on a plate so it would cool down faster because I couldn’t wait to eat it!

  15. Julie S. on April 1, 2011 at 11:23 am

Oh, I HATE it when I’m all set for a good workout & something thwarts it!! Grrrr…

“Hot Tub Time Machine” didn’t do it for me either.

I REALLY hope you get your house! Good luck!

  17. Rachel on April 1, 2011 at 1:44 pm

I did the exact same thing… turned off “The Hot Tub Time Machine” after just 10 min or so. And I barely ever do that, I usually will watch just about anything! Hated it…

I think the grocery store is a perfectly legitimate place for cardio 🙂 Love the quote at the end of the post, very thought-provoking!
