Nap then Snack + Spring Arms Workout

Hiiii friends! How’s your day been?

flowers

So glad you liked the video– we had fun making it 😀 If you ever have video or post ideas, please send them my way!
A couple of notes:

-We both say “You know?” A LOT. Somehow I manage to turn it off in video posts and the Pilot doesn’t say it in his flight briefs, but in real life, all bets are off. Last night, we were laughing at the amount of “you know”s from the Pilot in the video post… and then we laughed about breaking the futon.

-The futon is actually my brother’s. He’s lending it to us, since all of the furniture is in the POD. Sorry, Buddy.

-Bella thoroughly enjoyed her directing debut 😉

I just woke up from a little nap,

and then had a snack.

egg

I’ve written about this on the blog before, but every time I nap, food is the first thing on my mind when I wake up. I go straight from couch to kitchen. The Pilot always teases me about it 😉 Today’s snack (1 egg + 2 egg whites, green salsa, and goat cheese) was extra special because I flipped the egg! No spatula or anything. Ka pow.

This morning, I munched some gluten-free oats with blueberries and an amazeball on top:

oats

(Side note: have you made these yet?

amazeball

Please do, I think you’ll love them)

and then we looked at two houses with our new realtor.

The first had a really unique floor plan:

house

and the second had two VERY cute dogs 😀

dog dogs

No winners as of yet, but it helped to give the realtor a better idea of what we’re looking for.

Smoothie break:

xoo,

(I had almond milk, banana, blueberries and Sun Warrior from my purse)

and a trip to the dog park with little Bell.

I’m off to get ready to workout, but hope you have an amazing night!

See ya in the morning <3

xoxo

Gina

Something to do:

Arm workout!

After posting yesterday’s leg workout, I received a request for an equally killer arm workout. Ask and ye shall receive, friends 🙂

Spring Arms Workout

Add in this workout to your usual workout split, or on a non-consecutive weights day. As always, make sure to check with a doc before making any fitness or nutrition changes.

Spring Arms Workout

Warm-up, cardio 5-7 minutes (low intensity, bringing it up to moderate)- run/walk, elliptical, bike, jump rope

Complete the following circuit, and then repeat the entire thing 1-2 more times. Use weights that are challenging, but that are appropriate for your fitness level.

1. Push-ups (start in full plank position, and when/if you need to drop to your knees, go ahead. 15 total)

2. Mountain climbers (45 seconds)

3. Bench tricep dips (bend knees 90 degrees to make it easier if you need to, 15)

4. Bent over row and reverse fly combo (15)

5. Burpees (Any variation; 45 seconds)

6. Incline hammer curls (12-15)

Once upon a time, a girl in California had an amazing workout thanks to the Fairy Fitnessista’s blog. Then, she walked to the mailbox and to her surprise found ROONIES! The girl in California had to hurry and eat them or they would turn into a pumpkin!! Then..sadly I woke up and realized that all I had in the cupboard WAS pumpkin!!! I need rockin’ roonies!:)

I love the workouts you’ve blogged this week! can’t wait to try!

  7. Lindsay@livinglindsay.com on March 29, 2011 at 8:39 pm

You are so lucky to have your own personal Maverick. I’m so jealous. If you ever want to post a picture (or video) of the Pilot in a white tee, jeans, and sunglasses playing volleyball or riding a motorcycle, please feel free to do so 😉

Yes, I have made the Amazeballz and they are SO good! I think I may make some tonight or tomorrow. I like to crumble one on top of my morning oatmeal. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on March 29, 2011 at 8:45 pm

HAHAHA! omg. maybe on christmas? 🙂

    • Jen on March 29, 2011 at 10:01 pm

      hahaha

  8. carolyn on March 29, 2011 at 8:43 pm

Thanks for reminding me I need to make another batch of amazaballz! Loving the arm workout. I started doing 80 push ups a day a couple of weeks ago and now I do 36 full planks before dropping down (started at around 10) and can easily knock out 150+ a day.

    • Fitnessista on March 29, 2011 at 8:45 pm

      you are a rockstar

  9. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on March 29, 2011 at 8:44 pm

This workout sounds great Gina! I recently made my own version of the BodyRockTV Nightmare 300 workout (modified because I don’t have any of the equipment at home) and it was still pretty tough! Going to write this one down too. I hope you have a great night as well!
PS – I’m the same way as you post-nap….. all that sleeping makes me hungry! 😛

  10. aj on March 29, 2011 at 8:45 pm

I have the same thing with the post nap munchies! I am not only hungry, but I always have strong cravings for certain foods in particular! haha. I’m glad I’m not the only one!

  11. sally on March 29, 2011 at 8:56 pm

Wow thanks Gina, I will try that this afternoon 🙂

  12. Allison @ Food For Healing on March 29, 2011 at 9:00 pm

i definitely noticed that he said “you know?” alot, it was funny. the blooper was so funny, especially the pilots reaction BAhaha.
whenever i wake up from a nap, i take forever to come back to earth so i just sit up with a grumpy look. lol
*giveaway still going down at my bloggerino*

  13. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on March 29, 2011 at 9:06 pm

So glad you guys got a realtor. In this market, qualified buyers are worth their weight in gold and so you guys are in the drivers seat…so put the realtor to work and go see as many houses as your little hearts desire! And you’re right, seeing the No’s helps to narrow things down for the realtor to show you more qualified properties and to enhance the chances of the Yes’es.

Love the arms workout. And the amazeballs/bloob oats. And the nap 🙂

    Good luck house hunting!

  14. Brittany (Eating Bird Food) on March 29, 2011 at 9:11 pm

Food is the first thing on my mind when I wake up from sleeping too. Top priority. 🙂

Also, I tried your ballz this week and their delish!

Ok, next vlog idea: What is in your purse?!?!?!!??!

  17. Lana Wilson on March 29, 2011 at 9:27 pm

I’m actually very impressed you flipped the egg without a spatula! I tried it the other day and have the eggs ended up in the burner :(…It’s the small accomplishments in life that are the most important! 😉

  18. Ashley @ Feeding Ashley on March 29, 2011 at 9:34 pm

I don’t have weights but I think I can get creative with some nut butter jars. I’m loving the work out. Sounds super painful (in a totally great way)

  19. Laura on March 29, 2011 at 9:38 pm

Loved your video. Personally I was a fan of the Pilot’s “ya’ll take care”. I miss Southern accents 🙂

Putting the amazeballz on my to do list.

  20. Molly on March 29, 2011 at 9:58 pm

I made the amazeballs on Monday…today is Tuesday and I already have to make more…oops! 🙂

  21. kaila@ healthy helper blog! on March 29, 2011 at 10:42 pm

I am the same way after sleeping! Whether its in the morning or after a nap….I am always ravenous! I think its because my body is so used to eating right when I wake up in the morning that it gets confused if I take a nap…if that makes any sense lol!

Loved the video by the way! 🙂

  22. kt on March 29, 2011 at 11:28 pm

Loved the video- so cute. Great questions; I had been wondering about Bella’s heritage and if she pronounces her name the Spanish way or the Italian way. 🙂

  23. Valerie @ FreshMutz on March 29, 2011 at 11:47 pm

I totally used to overuse “you know.” I kicked the habit but now I say “ummm” a lot. I had no idea until one day my boyfriend heard me on the phone with a client and brought it to my attention (constructively, of course).

  24. elizabeth on March 29, 2011 at 11:48 pm

Haha, love the mustache on the magazine cover model. 😉

I am the exact same way – I wake up from my naps ready to eat! I guess napping zaps a lot of energy, huh? 😉

  27. Genn on March 30, 2011 at 12:38 am

    Hi Gina!
My name is Genn and I am a recent follower. I love your blog and all of your great healthy food inspiration. I just made your amaze ballz and they were amazing! 😉 I also tried them in the vegan cookie dough shake which was equally amazing and super filling.

You and your husband are such a cute couple. Loved your fun video.
Just wanted to come out, and say hello!

  28. Sheena on March 30, 2011 at 12:39 am

This is super random but has anyone ever told you that you look like a younger Rosemarie DeWitt? She is an actress and I absolutely love her character on “United States of Tara” 🙂

Also, I have two maltipoos as well! They are the goofiest/cutest dogs ever 🙂 🙂

And to answer your questions in your previous post::

    -Food you can’t live without

    oatmeal and oranges. 🙂

-Do you -or would you choose to, if you’re not attached- roll with joint or separate bank accounts?

My man and i plan on having both separate and a joint account. Paychecks go into the joint, and after budgeting our spending money for the month goes into our separate accounts. Or not, might change our mind when we get married. 🙂

-How many kids do you want?

    2. 🙂

  30. Gina B on March 30, 2011 at 3:04 am

Your eggs look delish! I am always snacky after a nap…my fiance makes fun of me too! I’ll do the same if I fall asleep on the couch, and then have to wake up to get to bed (I’ll make a quick pit stop in the kitchen for a bite or two!)…glad to know it’s “normal”….whatever that is! 😉

  31. Katherine: Unemployed on March 30, 2011 at 5:04 am

pilot’s look is very tom cruise in top gun. question for you: do you know the right size exercise ball for height brackets? I’m 5’3″ ish and I think I need a 21.6″ ball but am not sure! thanks!

    • Fitnessista on March 30, 2011 at 10:58 am

you could do it with ground up oats.. add in more vanilla to flavor it 🙂

  37. Jessica on March 30, 2011 at 8:31 am

Hi Gina! Recently started following your blog and I love it! I can’t wait to try the Ballz! This morning I made your cookie dough cereal for the first time…oh em gee!!! My life is forever changed in the same way it was when I first put nut butter in hot oatmeal! Thank you!!!!

  44. Tina on March 30, 2011 at 10:43 am

Loved the arm workout!!! I run and cycle all the time. I used to lift alot but have been slacking lately. I love the fact that the workout had cardio in it too for a complete workout. Good for when I’m short on time. I have to admit that my legs were screaming with the burpees! Arms were feeling it to from going straight to climbers after pushups:). I need to do a lot more circuit training! Thanks for posting!!!

I say “you know” ALL THE TIME… in fact my team called me on it one time when I was talking to them after losing the first set of our vball match… I couldn’t help but laugh and it lightened the mood so we came back and won! Good luck house hunting, I’m moving next week… note to self: start packing! 🙂
