Friday Lovin’

Hey friends! Happy Friday! Aaaaaaand happy, happy royal wedding day 🙂 Can you believe I slept through it? No DVR –it’s in the POD, along with my life- and it wasn’t possible to wake up at 3am and not be a zombie today. I’m relying on the constant day coverage and E! to catch me up 😀

On the other hand, Miss Bella isn’t the least bit excited about royal wedding festivities:

bell

Yawn.

bell (2)

Hahaha.

So it’s been a little while since I’ve done a “Things I’m Loving” type post- no time like the present, eh?

1. Physique 57

physique

If we had a studio close by, Physique would be my workout of choice (you can read about the classes I’ve taken *here in NY* and *here in LA*). It will burn your thighs, abs and life unlike anything I’ve ever tried, but I never feel too exhausted afterwards- the kind where you feel like you can’t finish the day. I always feel great and pleasantly sore.

physique

My friends and Physique were so sweet to hook me up with the DVDs, so I can do the workouts at home. I’m really excited to try them on my non-teaching days.

2. The olive pitter!

olive

I can eat olives again!!! 😉

It’s kind of a pain to peel the “meat” off the olives- I always get it stuck under my nails, which looks a little uncouth- and maybe it’s just me, but I feel like the pre-pitted ones don’t taste as good? This handy gadget was $13 at Williams-Sonoma, and it works for cherries, too. Summer cherries are just around the corner- I can’t wait 🙂

3. Buxom eyeliner by Bare Escentuals

eyeliner

My new makeup obsession. It can smudge if you want smoky eyes, or you can use the sharpener (which is in the lid) to make a thinner, more precise line. Eyeliner is the one piece of makeup, besides SPF, that I HAVE to wear everyday, and this is my new fave!!! It dries waterproof and doesn’t smudge- even after a long day at work or in the melting sun.

4. The salt lamp (still)

salt lamp

It just makes the bedroom feel so much more zen and peaceful. I love turning it on during a yoga practice or while I read before bed. I’d like to get another one.. or one of the GIANT ones. 😀

5. The new blog design!!! It launches Monday- I really hope ya all like it as much as I do 🙂

New header preview:

image

(There’s more to it, but that’s the text part)

I just munched a quick breakfast smoothie:

smoothie

-1.5 C almond milk

-1 frozen banana

-frozen organic strawberries

-1 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior

-cinnamon, vanilla, raw cacao powder

-cacao nibs on top

and am off to Day 3 at the new j-o-b.  😀 It’s only a half day, so I think a massage may need to happen after.

See ya this afternoon!

xoxo,

Gina

Something to talk about: What are some things you’re loving right now? Also, massage, nails or facial? If I have to choose, massage always wins.

Every time I see that glass I think, what an elegant, beautiful glass. Today I searched and searched and could not find one. Do you remember where you purchased that beautiful glass? I think drinking from beautiful glasses and eating off beautiful plates makes a meal/drink a bit more satisfying. The glass straw tops it off!

    • Fitnessista on April 29, 2011 at 3:33 pm

it’s actually plastic from target 🙂 the glass straw is what makes it feel so much nicer!

      • Dana Marie on April 29, 2011 at 6:11 pm

I couldnt have a glass straw because I like to bite the straw as I drink it 🙂
The glass one is pretty though- I like the to go cup though –

how was the tempeh bacon? can you post a pic too?
i’ve cooked tempeh a few times & i think it’s tricky to get the taste right – it ‘s more substantial than tofu & needs a lot of flavor.

    • Fitnessista on April 29, 2011 at 3:33 pm

i haven’t cooked it yet- will post a pic as soon as i do 🙂

  6. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on April 29, 2011 at 3:21 pm

Your new header is awesome looking!! You must be so excited. When I went thru my blog re-design/makeover process just getting the header done and ready, or close to it, is BIG.

Cherry pitter..when you have kids, too, it’s an essential item b/c kids dont get the concept of spitting the pit!

Buxom, new to me, great tip.

Physique 57…I posted earlier today about at home workouts and DVDs and yay or nay on them. Thanks for your review on those dvd’s and the whole program, in general. I am so curious to see what it’s all about now!

    🙂

With all the wedding hype, I’m really interested in reading/looking at pictures of your wedding recap!

  10. Physique 57 on April 29, 2011 at 4:25 pm

Glad you received the DVDs. Enjoy the workouts and let us know how it goes!

  11. Suzanne on April 29, 2011 at 4:36 pm

Massage!!!!!!!!!! Surely that question was rhetorical?!

So, every time I go in for a massage (which, sadly, is not nearly as often as I would like it to be [my pocketbook likes it less than my bod]), I always think about how I feel as though I were a baboon on a savannah being groomed. Seriously though, I think there is innate primal need to have therapuetic touch.

Also, (a bit late to the party on this one), but I freakin’ love TRX. Awesome, fun, portable. I love doing pallof presses with it.

Can’t wait for the new site! Haven’t commented in forever, but still lurking and loving.

  12. caryn on April 29, 2011 at 6:09 pm

haha, i literally lol-ed at the bella pics. she looks pretty sassy! especially the second one…i feel like she’s giving me “the look”. lol

  13. Danielle (Shrinking and Studying) on April 29, 2011 at 6:13 pm

If I had to choose I’d probably go for nails! Massages make me feel really self conscious!

Some things I’m loving right now (1) The Sookie Stackhouse Novels (2) YOUR work-out plans (my thighs are SO sore today – in a good way!) (3) The fact that it’s raining today instead of snowing (4) The fresh herbs currently growing in my kitchen and (5) My cat’s pink nail caps. =)

    • Fitnessista on April 29, 2011 at 8:07 pm

i’m so glad you’re enjoying the workouts 🙂

    • kristi on April 29, 2011 at 10:17 pm

  16. Barbara on April 29, 2011 at 9:45 pm

you’re such an inspirational ball of energy;-). the amount of things you’re able to accomplish in a single day is amazing, and yet, you seem to have a pretty balanced life. quick question, do you ever get in a workout rut, like where you’re bored with everything? if so, what normally shakes you out of it?

    • Fitnessista on April 30, 2011 at 1:05 am

yes i get in ruts about once per year- it always helps to take some time off. there was a time period over the holidays/january where i didn’t really *work out* for about 2 weeks. after that, i was good to go again 🙂
if i don’t feel like i need time off, i’ll switch something- try a new workout, class, setting or dvd will usually do the trick
      xoxo

Gina I wanna try physique. But all the cd’s are 99! I wanna buy just one for now, which is 25. which one of the 3 do u recommend? thanks G!

    • Fitnessista on April 30, 2011 at 1:06 am

i haven’t tried them yet but my guess would be the 57 minute workout- it’s exactly like a live class

  18. Lindsay on April 30, 2011 at 4:49 pm

Massage!!! Although I am really, really looking forward to getting my first pedicure of spring on Monday! Bring on the sandals!

  19. Katy on May 1, 2011 at 11:31 am

Hey, I love your blog! Where is that white and black striped sweatshirt with the pink trim from? I love it!

    • Fitnessista on May 1, 2011 at 5:57 pm

      lululemon- the aura jacket 🙂

  20. joanna on May 1, 2011 at 12:14 pm

I just want to say again that Physique 57 is the best work out I ever tried. I really saw results, even only doing it once a week! My butt and thighs really changed. I would love to hear what you think about it after some time.
