To market, to market…

to buy a huge scone. 🙂

pilot

(or “to buy a seksi Pilot?” heh heh)

Hi friends 😀 How was your day today?

Man oh man did it feel GLORIOUS to sleep in. The Pilot and I slept until we woke up (no alarm!) and then I grabbed a macaroon, warm from the dehydrator

roon

(I had to make sure they’re *safe* to send out)

some brown rice toast with peanut butter, cinnamon and banana

toast

and took Bella with us to hit up the Farmer’s Market.

me and bell

The weather was BEAUTIFUL today and there were the most vendors I’ve seen in a while!

market

Gorgeous local, organic produce, cheeses, dips and soups, beauty care products, raw foods, local organic meats, gluten-free bakers, ethnic foods, anything your heart could wish for.

vendors

We only picked up a couple of things (gorgeous tomatoes and prickly pear jelly, the Pilot also munched a saltena, which is a Bolivian pot pie), but we just happy to walk around and enjoy the sights and sunshine.

Bella enjoyed the sunshine, too 🙂

bella (2)

We’re trying to take her out and about with us more often, because the exercise is great for her and she’s becoming semi-senile in her middle age. She always loves people (especially kids) but we noticed she’s be growling at other dogs, which she never used to do. Hopefully she’ll get her social skills back 😉

The rest of the day has been pretty mellow. There are tons of to-dos and errands on the horizon, but sometimes ya gotta take it easy 😉

It’s dinner time over here! See ya in the morning 😀

xoxo

Gina

Super cute outfit! 🙂 I had a quiche night with some friends (you can definitely make this healthier than normal) and also made some healthier nachos yesterday (including beans and salsa). I would love to hear more ideas from everyone, especially for lunches and dinners. I want to try tofu stirfry, quinoa salad, and some Asian recipes this week…

Hola girl! I just wanted to pass on some info that might be helpful for lil Bella 🙂 There is an INCREDIBLE veterinary behaviorist named Dr. Sophia Yin, whose website has so much helpful information for working with dogs on specific problems, the RIGHT way. She has a section of videos posted to show ways in which positive reinforcement training is effective. She is the first that I recommend to EVERY client! Here’s one that might be helpful (even if Bella is just reacting with little growls the same types of things apply!). This woman is my GURU so I can’t help but share 😀 Have a great week!

Your Farmer’s Market looks huge for the beginning of April! I am eager for the days of late spring when I can buy strawberries, asparagus, and tomatoes!!! As for this week, I threw some guacamole into my cart!

  12. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on April 3, 2011 at 10:37 pm

gorgeous tomatoes and prickly pear jelly = Nice finds!

And the Pilot, he’s a nice find, too 🙂

So glad you enjoyed the sunshine, fresh air, sights and sounds of the market, the outdoors, and just being with your honey. That’s priceless, right there!

Meal planning. Yes. Lots of fresh veggies, some condiments, tofu/beans/lentils/edamame, and call it a day. Or a week. Or a month. That’s pretty much what I do. lol

Can’t wait to hear your more scientific methodology!

So jealous of your Farmers Market! I can’t wait until it gets warm enough up here for ours to be outside again. 🙂
I’m actually planning on making some marinated shrimp skewers tomorrow night and am SHOCKED that the hubby actually agreed to them (he’s not a huge fish fan!). Hopefully they turn out alright so I’ll be able to feed him fish again! 🙂

for some reason my post didn’t… weird! I should be planning my meals, but since I graduate college in a month i have many other things on my mind, haha. And I can’t wait until it’s warm enough to go to a farmers market! Where I’m from it’s still cold and rainy!

  20. J3nn (Jenn's Menu and Lifestyle Blog) on April 3, 2011 at 11:31 pm

Your farmer’s market sounds amazing! I wish we had one closer. Our closest is 20 miles away and not worth it. 🙁

None of my business, but I read your blog everyday. I wouldn’t buy a house in this economy. Ever. Just my two cents. That’s just my opinion. I really like your blog.

    • Beth on April 4, 2011 at 3:30 am

Home prices are rediculously low, interest rates are low… If you have a guaranteed paycheck (spec. military/government) then you SHOULD go for it. Eventually the economy will straighten back out and they will have made one heck of a smart deal. What’s sad is people who bought right before the crash… like us and millions of others.

I have something for you to try! I have it scheduled for Wednesday 😉 Curried Cous Cous Salad, I’m paring it with roasted garlic hummus, pitas and extra veggies. Here’s the site, Giada made it 😉 http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/curried-couscous-salad-recipe/index.html It looked so yummy, then when i actually saw the recipe I was scared and almost backed out, but I made it exactly (like I do for first trys) and it was so, SO good. Don’t leave anything out! esp. the cranberries, they kinda make it 😉 Hope you enjoy!

what a glorious day for the market! sounds like a wonderful outing for the three (i count bella!) of you. can’t wait for the market season to arrive here!
thanks for a warm-fuzzy flashback moment: my mom made a lot of homemade cookies when we were little, and we always got to taste them right out of the over…just to make sure they were “safe” to eat. your macaroon tasting gave me instant recall of those happy moments! thanks!

You are getting me SO excited to go to the farmer’s market this summer Gina!! If you’re looking for something tasty to make this week, I made 2 re-creations of my favourite Whole Foods salads a while ago, the Edamame Caviar and Kamut Power Blend (http://bit.ly/fbGHkR). They’re not the real thing, but they’re close and pretty delicious!! Have a wonderful day. 🙂

It looks just beautiful there. We got nailed with pea size hail yesterday – I laid over the top of my car to protect it! Just kidding. My 14 year old puppy does things he’s never done before – like pick up his food dish out of the kitchen and bring it into the family room to eat. We always look at each and say, “That’s new”. Enjoy your week and take care. Mo
