Leave with a hug and a kiss

Hi friends 😀 How’s your Friday treating ya?

Things are bueno over here 🙂

Before we left for my doctor’s appointment, I was presented with a plate of fluffy egg whites, with garlic, sea salt, pepper and goat cheese.

Why does food taste so much better when other people make it? More specifically, why does food taste so much better when a seksi Pilot makes it? 🙂

Doc’s appt was good (considering that it was my annual appt. Bleh!) Since we were downtown, we stopped at a Tucson treasure for lunch 😉

poca cosa

I’ve already blogged quite a few times about my deep, undying love for Cafe Poca Cosa. Well, today we dined at the Little Cafe Poca Cosa, which is more casual and serves incredible breakfast and lunch.

Unlike the dark, chic decor of the big Cafe Poca Cosa, Little Poca Cosa is warm, inviting and feels like eating at nana’s house. Mexican music is blasting and the staff treat you like family members.

(We were there for the end of lunch, so the crowd had already cleared out)

They have a printed menu  –the big restaurant’s changes daily, so servers walk around with chalkboards- and they offer daily juice and entree specials.

Fresh chips and salsa

Today, we decided to try the juice special… wait until you hear this:

Honeydew cucumber lemonade with fresh basil

lemonade

It was so refreshing and not overly sweet… can’t wait to re-create it at home 🙂

For my meal, I rolled with the Vegan Tostada

tostada

Which came with slices of honeydew and my favorite Poca Cosa salad, fluffy Mexican rice

And the Pilot ordered the Plato Poca Cosa– the chef picks 3 different things for you to try 🙂

pilot

It ended up being 3 soft tacos: chicken mole, chicken picadillo and chicken asado, with rice and salad, with sliced strawberries

Happy kids indeed 😀

It was funny because we didn’t speak almost the entire time. It was totally silent, and totally ok. We just exchanged knowing glances as we ate our lunchtime feast 🙂

The best part? Hugs and kisses from the owner when we left 🙂

It was an incredible meal with incredible, silent company. Haha.

We’re back at the casa and are going to chill for a sec before it’s gym time.

Enjoy your night!

xoxo

Zumba song of the day: “Fotografia” Juanes y Nelly Furtado – awesome for cool down. It’s on the playlist for tomorrow’s class.

silent company . . . definitely happens when the food is THAT good. you can’t talk (politely, anyway) and shovel food into your pie-hole 😉

  8. Stacy R. on June 3, 2011 at 8:32 pm

You look like you are glowing today! Perhaps your doctors appointment went really well……

  9. alicia on June 3, 2011 at 8:36 pm

You cracked me up when you said: “Doc’s appt was good (considering that it was my annual appt. Bleh!) Since we were downtown…” I thought you were talking about a different downtown! lol.

    • Jaime on June 3, 2011 at 8:40 pm

haha, I totally thought the same, given the previous sentence. LOL

  16. Mac on June 3, 2011 at 10:01 pm

What unique menu items! And I like the idea of a daily special juice!

  17. Holly @ The Runny Egg on June 3, 2011 at 10:03 pm

The food looks delicious and that drink sounds amazing! Eating honeydew or cucumber is like drinking water anyway, so drinking the juice must have felt like drinking super water 🙂

  18. Evan Thomas on June 3, 2011 at 10:05 pm

I love when you can just sit with someone and not say anything and not have it be awkward. That’s the hallmark of a great relationship.

  19. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on June 3, 2011 at 10:12 pm

Honeydew cucumber lemonade with fresh basil = that sounds awesome!

And any place where they treat you like family with authentic music playing…sounds perfect to me.

Glad you survived your annual exam. Ugh, not exactly my fave thing to do but necessary, of course, to be proactive.

Have a super night with Pilot!

  20. Carolyn on June 3, 2011 at 10:58 pm

This is insanity Gina – Megan and I had lunch there today at noon and sat at that same table initally…until a group of 3 needed the spot! Both Poca Cosa’s are amazing in their own unique ways.
I am excited for your big news next week!!

  21. Jess on June 3, 2011 at 11:28 pm

This is totally random but I LOVE Juanes. My spanish teacher in high school gave me his cd like 8 years ago and I fell in love. That is one of my favorite songs too 🙂

they have an ike’s down there too! i was so excited 🙂

  24. Jenny on June 4, 2011 at 1:37 am

    Couple questions:
    1) Did that tostada come with an actual tostada?
    2) Were those green beans canned/frozen, Chef Irvine from Food Network would be mad 😛
    3) Do you still do work out videos?
    4) Do family and friends contantly nag you about having kids?
Don’t worry about your workout classes having little to no turn-out, I work at a resort and it is rare that the classes have a full-house.

    • Fitnessista on June 4, 2011 at 10:23 am

      1. yes, it was at the bottom
      2. canned. they were out of pinto beans so i think that was the compensation.
      3. yes- i alternate but right now my faves are turbofire, physique 57 and tracy anderson. they’re awesome for traveling
      4. they used to but it’s gotten better
good to know. capacity levels are so volatile and the classes definitely reflect that

  25. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on June 4, 2011 at 7:52 am

That juice sounds so refreshing! Perfect for a summer day by the pool… I must try to make that! 😀

  26. KimLivesHealthy on June 4, 2011 at 9:55 am

mmm mole mole mole! I used to love chicken mole but don’t eat chicken anymore – have you ever tried it on a vegetarian plate?

    • Fitnessista on June 4, 2011 at 10:23 am

no but that would be amazing!

  27. Gina (Yogattude) on June 4, 2011 at 11:20 am
