Hey friends 😀 How are you? Hope your day is going well <3

Bella is fluffy, clean and totally sassafras.

She even has patriotic bows!

bell (3)

Look how the wind blows in her ears. So cute I can’t even handle it 😉

It has been a productive day today! Lately I’ve just wanted to nap on the couch with my Snoogle, but I got hit in the productivity pants 🙂

-Cardio

-Cleaned

-Got the car washed

-Groceries

-Fashion post

-2 conference calls

Ninja-kicked.

It’s also been a day full of snacking 🙂

TJs gluten-free waffle (I like the Vans brand better)

waffles

Chocolate-cherry smoothie

smoothie

(1.5 C almond milk, 1 C frozen organic cherries, 1 T protein powder, 1 T raw cacao powder, a little honey, cinnamon, ice and one banana- made two mugs full)

An egg and bean-rito with homemade salsa:

on these new-to-me tortillas:

tortillas

They’re gluten-free and whole grain, made with millet and teff flour.

What is teff??

From WiseGEEK:

Teff, or tef, is a cereal grain native to Northeastern Africa and Southwestern Arabia. Although it has been used in Ethiopia in particular for centuries, teff was not widely known in other parts of the world until the late twentieth century, when farmers in the Central United States and Australia began to experiment with the grain. A growing demand for teff has made it more readily available, especially in urban areas. Typically, health food stores and large grocers stockteff, either in the form of flour or in a whole grain format.

The grain has a very mild, nutty flavor, and it also packs a serious nutritional punch. Teff, whiteteff in particular, has an excellent balance of amino acids, and it is also high in protein, calcium, and iron. An inferior variety, red teff, has less nutritional value, although it is easier to cultivate. Along with other alternative grains like quinoa and millet, teff has become well known in the health foods community because of its great nutritional value.

The stats were great

tortillas (2)

and the tortillas had a unique chewy texture. I find that if I don’t switch up my gluten-free bread products every week or so, I get sick of them, so this is a fun new one to add to the mix 🙂

More snackage:

Goat gouda (soooooo gouda)

gouda

[with the black lace nail effects!]

and quinoa crispbreads –another health food store find- with peanut butter and cinnamon.

crispbreads

Perfection. It feels like I’ve been eating all day and it’s helped with the queasiness 🙂

I’m going to chillax for a second and then take Bella to break in her new haircut but covering it in dust at the dog park 😉

Have a lovely night <3

xoxo

What brand/where do you get organic frozen cherries?! I’ve looked EVERYWHERE (WF, TJ, Publizzle, Kroger) and I can’t find them – just conventional. 🙁

Also, I heart Bella’s pigtail ears. And the black lace nail effects are hawt.

It might be the OCD in me coming out but have you ever thought to change your About page to something that starts with an F? lol Maybe Facts or Fitnessista? Just an idea! Glad to see your appetite back 🙂

    • China on June 20, 2011 at 7:13 pm

I totally thought the same thing the other day! 🙂 I was thinking Fitnessista, but Facts would be cute, too.

    • Fitnessista on June 20, 2011 at 7:22 pm

I guess those stats aren’t too bad for bread… I have not been eating any lately outside from my parents’ house. Not easy!

  12. Krystina (Organically Me) on June 20, 2011 at 7:22 pm

I thought the TJ waffles kicked Van’s booty, but then I’m partial to all things TJ. 😉

I feel like a creeper, but I can’t not comment on how cute Bella is every time I see her!

I’ve been day dreaming about the grey maxi you got all day… I’m hoping for B’s sake I don’t *need* it, but it’s kinda looking that way. I always know when I have to keep going back to look at it we’re in trouble HAHA

  19. Julie on June 20, 2011 at 7:54 pm

Oh I like the black lace nail effects!! Are they pretty easy to trim to fit the length of individual nails??

  20. cathy on June 20, 2011 at 8:02 pm

black is absolutely my favourite colour of nail polish. i was thinking it would be too heavy for this time of year, but your nails look fabulous! maybe i just need to add some lace?!

  21. Amelia on June 20, 2011 at 8:05 pm

Some days I like full meals, other days I like snacking all day. Right now when the thermometer is reading 104 in Charleston, SC, I really enjoy snacking and eating lighter foods.

  22. Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table on June 20, 2011 at 8:05 pm

THey were talking about nail effects on The View last week! (Sometimes I watch it in the gym… I can’t believe I just outed myself… LOL!) Are they really easy to do?

    • Fitnessista on June 20, 2011 at 11:28 pm

      super easy!

  23. Courtney on June 20, 2011 at 8:15 pm

When I was prego it always helped me to snack a lot. My nausea seemed to come when my tummy would get empty.

  24. Elizabeth on June 20, 2011 at 8:18 pm

I need another doggie, stat. I am so pathetic about other people’s puppies. The sassafrasian-ness of your puppy is just so poodle.

Also: Am craving homemade tortillas. Ohhhh fresh made buttery tortilla…. you are my loverrrr….

  25. G on June 20, 2011 at 8:19 pm

This is a totally random question and I apologize for it, but it’s been bugging me for a while now and I can’t find it anywhere on your blog, yet I know you’ve mentionned it before: what is your full first name?
    🙂

  27. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on June 20, 2011 at 9:02 pm

“It feels like I’ve been eating all day and it’s helped with the queasiness “– Yep.

I remember those days. Sometimes I would be so sick, I really didn’t know if I was coming or going, I was just in a fog. And I would just sit down and eat. It was like, I couldn’t make me feel worse, and it could possibly make me feel better, so that was the plan 🙂

I love the teff review and tortilla finds.

And Bella is looking so adorable!

  28. Lori H on June 20, 2011 at 9:14 pm

Bella looks amazing! I bet you can’t stop cuddling her! She must have a really good groomer to make her look that white! : )

  29. Tracy @ Commit to Fit on June 20, 2011 at 9:22 pm

I totally agree about the GF products, I am finding that I really need to switch them up.

  31. Christy @ So I Follow the Sun on June 20, 2011 at 9:46 pm

I just love seeing pictures of Bella! It makes me want a toy poodle so so bad. My boyfriend is a fan of big dogs, though… so I might have to compromise and get a standard poodle. I’m sure he would love taking little Fifi for walks.

  32. Amber @ Stop and Smell the Wildflowers on June 20, 2011 at 9:50 pm

    Bella looks so cute!
I got that brand of tortillas a few weeks ago (the traditional ones, though) and I love them! I’ve been making burritos in the oven so that they end up a little crispy- yum!

  33. kaila @ healthy helper! on June 20, 2011 at 10:37 pm

Those wraps sound so good! I love teff flour but I’ve never seen it used commercially like that before! So cool!

  34. Destini on June 20, 2011 at 10:41 pm

I love those lace sally hanson salon effects! I wish my nails weren’t too short for those. Bella looks beyond adorable with her little ribbons and cut. Soo cute 🙂

  35. Molly on June 20, 2011 at 10:43 pm

mmm I need some waffles in my life. Love them.

  36. Ann @ Running With Chopstix on June 20, 2011 at 10:49 pm

Ooh, your nails are super cute! How long do they usually last for? And just wondering, what type of goat cheese do you usually get? I loove goat cheese but I feel like it keeps going bad and getting moldy really quick so I’m hesitant to buy it now 🙁

    • Fitnessista on June 20, 2011 at 11:25 pm

they lasted for 10 days and the only reason i had to take them off was because my nails were getting too long
try goat gouda- it’s my alltime fave 🙂

  37. alex on June 20, 2011 at 10:55 pm

LOVE your nails! I’ve been eyeballing those things at Target ever since I first saw you rocking the leopard print ones your mom got you and now I think I have to buy them.

  38. Laury @ thefitnessdish on June 20, 2011 at 11:25 pm

Ugh…yes…eating all day DEF helps with the queasiness!!!

I’ve been eating the food for life brown rice wraps for like 3 years now…and lately they fall apart before I even eat them, it’s SO frustrating!!! Must try and find those GF teff wraps!

You for sure have the cutest Furbaby in the whole world. I was wondering, have you changed your work outs, now that you are pregnant? Or are you maintaining, until a later date?

    • Fitnessista on June 21, 2011 at 9:59 am

i’ve had to change them a lot during my first trimester to take the intensity down a little. no more bodyrock or HIIT :/

That chocolate cherry looks AMAZING – def need to try that. YUM.

  43. Sara on June 21, 2011 at 4:36 am

Thanks for the no-bake dessert link! It’s gold. Chilled vegan double chocolate torte has my name on it for Saturday if I can find some ripe avocado’s. If not, it will be .. a few days later, once they have softened up a bit. I may be dim, but I can’t find a ‘search’ bar on your new blog. If there is one.. where is it?

    • Fitnessista on June 21, 2011 at 9:58 am

Teff sounds like something I’ll have to try next time I have the chance, and Bella looks just LOVERLY, so ready for the 4th of July!

Those truly were some productive pants you were wearing, I’d like to find a pair in my size for the next two days!! Maybe next up can be a fashion post about productive pants. But I did like the one on helpful hats. Daring dresses.

    Ok, alliteration, that’s enough.

  48. Shelly on June 21, 2011 at 9:31 am

Have you ever tried Ethiopian food? It’s served on a giant teff crepe (called Injera) that you use to mop up all the food. I think you’d like it- the flavors are similar to Indian food but milder.

    • Fitnessista on June 21, 2011 at 9:57 am

i haven’t but i tell the pilot at least once every week we need to try it!

  49. Jessica @ Healthy Dairyland on June 21, 2011 at 9:50 am

You do such a good job applying those nail polish strips. Every time I do it, mine are all bumpy and I end up peeling them off a day later. What’s your secret?

  50. Moni'sMeals on June 21, 2011 at 11:45 am

those nails are just so cool, I must step it up!

I love the links at the end, thanks!
