Coffee Shop Blogging

Hiiiii 😀 Happy almost-Friday! Thanks for all of the natural cleaning suggestions- I’m excited to try out your ideas this weekend 🙂

Last night I was so stoked to make a *real* dinner in the new kitchen… but realized we need to do a little bit more unpacking before that can happen 😉

dinner

I did have the goods for egg puffs in coffee mugs with goat gouda + salads with Goddess dressing, so we rolled with that 🙂

It’s funny because after writing my 7 links post, I couldn’t get the vegan cookies out of my brain, so I went to my mom’s house yesterday afternoon to make a batch….

and proceeded to eat a ton of dough. Best thing about vegan cookies: no salmonella fret – you can eat all the raw dough ya want 🙂

Breakfast this morning was a different type of cookie…

Breakfast cookie!
It’s been SO long. And it was AMAZING- perfect pre-work fuel.

Lunch is all packed up:

salad

and I’m hoping this will be my last day of coffee shop blogging. Internet should be hooked up today 🙂

See ya later this afternoon <3

Something to think:

“To get up each morning with the resolve to be happy… is to set our own conditions to the events of each day. To do this is to condition circumstances instead of being conditioned by them.”

Something to do: This short 5-minute cardio workout! It’s great for a work or study break, and will definitely get your heart rate up after 5 minutes 🙂

These cookies had me drooling since yesterday too!! I must get the ingredients so I can make them!

Confession….I have not purchased a baked good ingredient so I don’t make them so I won’t eat all of them, but whats the point to living, right???

    xxoo

Baking is my all-time favorite thing to do in the kitchen (eating aside!) and since I started living without roommates, I don’t hardly bake anymore for that exact same reason! I know I won’t be able to not eat half the batch myself! It’s a rough life 😉

    Good luck with the unpacking

What a great quote! I think you completely choose how your day goes…

yes, crap will happen sometimes.. but the ability to shrug it off *or* realize that it’s happened & be done with it and move on is something we all can learn to do a little better.

like rafiki (wrong spelling) from the lion king says… “it’s in the past!” 😉

Your ‘something to think’ today is great! And awesome about the no-salmonella in the cookie dough… all the more reason to make a double batch, right? 😉

I love house stuff with the husbands. It’s so fun, isn’t it?

I can’t wait until we buy a HOUSE house like you guys so we can have a patio and do fun projects and plant a garden!

  14. Yolie @ Practising Wellness on July 28, 2011 at 11:41 am

For a meal with minimum preparation that still looked delicious! And your breakfast cookie is totally making me crave one myself! Breakfast cookies are probably my favourite thing you’ve ever taught me through your blog (and you’ve taught me a lot). So cool that the house is coming along…I would love to have a house with the Kiwi of our very own. At the moment we are sharing with two other guys…it’d be nice for it to be just us! One day 🙂 Have a brilliant work day! <3 xyx

Those vegan cookies look fabulous. Knowing that there are no eggs in them, I probably wouldn’t have baked them at all. Raw cookie dough is the best! 😀

  17. Allison @ Food For Healing on July 28, 2011 at 11:58 am

cookie dough is the best, i could really go for some right about now. I’m having one of *those* days!
glad you are starting to get sort of organized in the new house, it takes little time, but hey you get to STAY there!

Vegan cookies sound super yummy right now! 🙂 yay for unpacking! I’m sure you’re ready to be nice & settled! We’re still in the painting stage, anxiously awaiting to get our things in the casa in a couple of weeks. 🙂

Is the outdoor patio set from IKEA by chance? Looks like the one I’ve been eyeing and wonder how you like it?

  24. Cat on July 28, 2011 at 12:50 pm

I debated whether to right this or not, but raw cookie dough is not completely safe regardless of whether it is vegan or not. While eggs do carry a higher risk of Salmonella, there are other risky ingredients. Flour is made from grain and is a raw agricultural commodity, thus, it can carry salmonella. The “raw” cookie dough you seen in ice cream is made using flour that has been treated to kill bacteria. Most flours at the grocery store are not treated because they will be baked, cooked, etc. The risk is very low, but it is not zero, especially for the YOPI population (Young, Old, Pregnant and Immuno-comprimised). I don’t think anyone is in danger from your cookies, that is not what I am implying, just adding some other information to the discussion. I have a degree in Food Safety, so I wanted to comment and hopefulyl educate a few folks.

Congrats on your new home and impending bundle of fun!

Coffee shop blogging is fun when you don’t have to do it…a little less fun when you do. Glad you are getting your internet soon!

Your eats look delish! Can you believe I’ve never tried Goat Cheese?! Your salad makes me want to try it! What’s it like? Consistency and taste-wise?

Love that quote too, it reminds me of the perspective I learned to keep from reading The Secret.

Is your outdoor stuff teak? Beautiful – I think you have to oil/protect it on a yearly basis? I’m the designated “puter togetherer” in my house – I have patience! Warm nights out on the deck – and you guys have a view. Sounds just beautiful. You enjoy that new house and don’t overdo it! Have a great weekend.

You know Gina, it sounded like you had a lot of dough… I would be more than happy to relieve you of that problem if you are “doughed-out” (that’s a technical term and a clinical illness for which I have never suffered from). Goes to show what a wonderful & giving blog reader I am. 🙂

“Best thing about vegan cookies: no salmonella fret – you can eat all the raw dough ya want :)”–

I was JUST on another blog who made cookie dough ice cream and said to him, the best thing about the cookie dough he used was that it was egg-free so can eat it…as is. Wink-wink 🙂

Breakfast cookie…oh it looks like a good one! And so do your cookies!

I love this post b/c it’s a bit of a throwback to foods you made a lot about a year or so ago…brekkie cookies and vegan choc chip cookies…love it.

And glad you could get your coffee shop blog on!

Gina, I love that quote! It’s true. You need to be active in your happiness and make things happen instead of waiting for the world to come to you. Hope your unpacking is going smoothly!
