Schweaty August Cardio Workout

Heyyyyy! And yayyyyy for the weekend 😀 I’ve got a Schweaty August Cardio Workout for you in the form of hilly treadmill intervals! If you’re ready for it, scroll down. Otherwise, some things from lately.

I’m pretty sure you could figure it out from last night’s post, but I was dead tired. All I wanted to do was lay on the couch and let my brain and body rest, so cooking was pretty much out of the picture. Since I cooked every night this week, the Pilot offered to pick up some dinner at Renee’s Organic Oven- my fave 😀

He ordered a pizza for himself, and the combo foodgasms are made of (for meeeeee):Renee's Organic Oven

Veggies (artichokes, onion, tomato, squash, basil) cooked in marinara with goat cheese + a slice of Udi’s bread

and I have no idea how this gluten-free carrot cake made it into the order.

me chowing down on gluten-free carrot cake

But I was all over it 😉

He had a boy’s night and went to Sakura with some of the other pilots, while I stayed at home in my jammies, read baby books and watched “How to lose a guy in 10 days” for the twelve thousandth time in my life. I’ve been  trying to read Bossypants and can’t get into it.

Bossypants Source

I loved the first couple of chapters, but am at a point where I’m losing interest. Trying to decide if I want to call it quits and start something new, or make myself finish it.

Bfast this morning was more like a snack, since we have our last ultrasound appointment and will prob grab some bfast after.

toast

Brown rice toast with a little PB, half a banana and cinnamon

We’re off to the doc’s- see ya later today <3

Here’s that Schweaty August Cardio Workout! This one is a combo of rolling hills and speed intervals, to get your booty burning and blast a lot of calories in 30 minutes. As always, check with a doc before making any fitness changes and modify the workout as necessary to suit your fitness level and preferences.

You can use an elliptical, spin bike or treadmill for this one:

[I designed the workout with a treadmill, but if you’re using a spin bike or elliptical use the incline as guidelines of how to increase each minute for the rolling hills, and for sprinting, make sure to have some resistance on there, too]

If you walk, shoot for a quick pace like 4.0mph. Make sure your sprints are as fast as you can go and that steady state at the end should be a pretty quick pace.

At the end, you’ll want to fully cool down, so it’s fine if it takes more than three minutes. Go for as long as you need to!

-“Let It Rain Over Me” Pitbull ft Marc Anthony

-“Beautiful People” Chris Brown ft Benny Benassi

-“Marry the Night” Lady Gaga

-“Do What You Want” Evanescense

-“In the Dark” DEV

-“Stereo Hearts” Gym Class Heroes ft. Adam Levine

“Bossypants” does have a couple lull chapters in the middle, but I still read it and laughed like a maniac. It picks up again when she starts talking about her career and fame.

Really excited to do this cardio workout! And for your next family post (re: twitter) :). It is so fun to follow your pregnancy journey until I embark on my own! Also, I am currently downloading some of the playlist songs you suggested above. I’m sure they will help on those sprints.

  31. Alyssa on August 12, 2011 at 12:36 pm

I’ve just started reading Bossy Pants too, and was also having a hard time getting into it. I love her humor, though it was tough to read after just finishing The Help. Because The Help was just sooooo goood!

  36. Ali @ urbanfruitbat on August 12, 2011 at 1:18 pm

It is always so strange when things like the gluten free carrot cake happen, isn’t it? Happy doctoring!

  39. Jessica on August 12, 2011 at 2:23 pm

Good luck today! If you stop reading the book, at least skip ahead and read the chapter of the letter she wrote to her daughter… it’s funny slash will make you tear up at the end 🙂

    • Heather on August 13, 2011 at 10:08 am

exactly what i was going to tell her. that prayer is hysterical, and being a mom of a little girl, it is so right on! 🙂

      • Fitnessista on August 13, 2011 at 10:57 am

k, i’ll at least skip and read that part 🙂

  40. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on August 12, 2011 at 3:33 pm

Books….if I happen across one that’s a dud or that I am not into, I scrap it! Time is too precious to be anything other than totally in love with a book for me.

And I am glad that carrot cake found it’s way into your life…I wish some would find it’s way like that into mine! 🙂

  41. Kiah on August 12, 2011 at 3:33 pm

Thanks for the new workout! I am in definite need of changing things up, and a little Lady Gaga never hurt those hill sprints (-:

  42. Anna @ Newlywed, Newly Veg on August 12, 2011 at 3:41 pm

    Good luck at the doctor!!!

When cake makes its way into your life, just don’t question it 🙂

  43. Kate on August 12, 2011 at 3:53 pm

I just finished bossypants, it def hit a low note in the middle, but there were parts that I legit laughed out loud at in the end. Have you read Chelsea Handler’s books? I can’t put them down!

    • Fitnessista on August 12, 2011 at 4:43 pm

i’ve read all of them- she’s hilarious!

  44. shana on August 12, 2011 at 4:21 pm

I thought the book was pretty boring in the beginning chapters. Try skipping to the chapter titled something like “Amazing, perfect, not like that” in which she talks about doing photoshoots. Made me laugh so hard.

    • Fitnessista on August 12, 2011 at 4:43 pm

      ok, good to know!

  45. Ashley on August 12, 2011 at 5:08 pm

I love bossypants! I just finished reading it a while ago, but a few chapters were super boring so I just had to skip them.

  46. Jessica @Baybaybites on August 12, 2011 at 6:34 pm

Oh bummer! I have to read that book for my book club next month. I didn’t really care for the book we read this month either. I used to read books until the end even when I didn’t like them but I don’t do that anymore. Why waste my time when there are so many other good books out there? And I can always try to read it again another time. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood then.

  47. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on August 12, 2011 at 7:58 pm

Haha I love your face in that picture with the carrot cake. You look so mischievous! 😉

Love this workout! Can’t wait to try it out!!!

  49. sara @ the foodie diaries on August 12, 2011 at 10:16 pm

First of all, CONGRATS on your little girl 🙂 I’m so happy for you and the pilot!!! <3 And I found the same problem with Tina Fey's book. I loved the beginning, but now I've kind of fallen out of interest with it. I'll keep trying if you do 😉

  50. Kaye on August 12, 2011 at 10:38 pm

Those veggies look bomb! I didn’t try to read Bossypants, though I think I would have powered through it. I DID, however, listen to the audiobook, read by Tina Fey herself, and it was AMAZING! Like a three hour long stand up marathon! 😀
