Hail, (salmon) Ceasar

It was one of those days when I wanted to work out, but the thought of getting to the gym was the only thing holding me back. You know, like getting dressed in normal-people clothes and driving there in the cold. I also hate the thought of leaving right when the Pilot gets home for work.. even if we’re both doing our own thing or relaxing, it’s nice to just be near him. I told him I was going to get dressed and go to the gym for a little cardio, and he said “why don’t you just stay here and do the Wii?”

The Wii!

When we lived in Valdosta, it was an anniversary gift to each other- we drank too much wine and walked to Wal-Mart to buy said Wii. We’ve had a lot of Rockband nights, but I’ve only played the Wii Active game a handful of times.

So tonight, I busted it out… and actually think I might be sore tomorrow.

I did a 30-minute custom workout with cardio intervals, strength training, boxing and dance. The boxing was probably my favorite part, and the dancing was super lame. Lots of side-to-side punching and “swinging the lasso.” Yeehaw 😉

It was actually a lot of fun, and an interesting way to switch it up from the usual routine.

After my Wii sesh, we got started on dinner.

Beautiful salmon:

salmon

(with lemon, garlic, sea salt, pepper, olive oil, grilled by the Grillmaster himself)

Grilled asparagus:

dinner

Peppermint iced tea

Caesar salads

salad

-everything I could wish for.

I go into work a little later tomorrow, so it will be my second BB in a row! Sleeping in will be lovely, too.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful night <3

xoxo

Gina

I want the new Zumba game! But I don’t have a Wii, haha. I was going to buy my bf an Xbox 360 for xmas but it’s a little out of my price range, plus I don’t need him playing more video games. 😉 I do want a Wii, though! Just Dance makes me crazy happy.

    • Fitnessista on December 16, 2011 at 11:32 pm

i secretly hope our xbox disappears. haha

I wanted to get him the new batman game but then I figured I wouldn’t see him for half the day.

I just got a smartphone and downloaded an ab burner a day app. I wasnt so sure about these crazy phones but i got excited when the boyfriend directed me to the fitness apps. Any suggestions for good/fun ones? 🙂

    • Fitnessista on December 16, 2011 at 11:36 pm

I am open to any at home workout when its FREEZING out. Its so much work to get bundled and to the gym sometimes. I get super self conscious of people seeing me dance, but I totally do dance videos when i am alone and there is no one to judge : ) I have a super cheesy 90’s style dance workout video I bought at TJ Maxx. LOL. I’m sure I look ridiculous doing it, but it makes me feel so proud when I start to get the moves down.

Love your belly in the action shot of you…i swear it’s so round and cute it almost doesn’t even look real! like a strap-on belly just pretending 🙂 it’s fun to look backward at your posts and see how far along you and she have come.
i love the classic wii games…i know they’re not necessarily in the “fitness” category but wii tennis and wii boxing tire me out like crazy.

  7. Emily on December 17, 2011 at 12:28 am

My mom just bought the Zumba for her wii! I go home in a few days and I’m excited to try it out!!

  8. kara on December 17, 2011 at 12:45 am

wii hula hoop is the only way i’ll ever be able to do a hula hoop. and its crazy fun/a sort of crazy ab workout, actually.

That game looks like so much fun! I’ve always wanted a Wii!

My husband convinced me to buy an Xbox, and at first we only had Kinect games. They give you much more of a workout than I originally expected!! I love the Dance Central games 😀

    • Fitnessista on December 17, 2011 at 1:19 am

i’ve been wanting to try those!

  11. Ginger on December 17, 2011 at 1:16 am

Just Dance is hard! Ha ha

You are the cutest preggo EVER! seriously, we have been so determined on one child but seeing you makes me want another!

  12. Clare on December 17, 2011 at 1:18 am

Silly question, where do you get most of your salmon? Frozen, fresh?

    • Fitnessista on December 17, 2011 at 1:34 am

i get it from whole foods, where it’s “fresh” (but really all fish in az has been frozen and defrosted), or at the farmer’s market. there’s a girl there who sells the salmon (frozen) that her dad catches in alaska, and it’s AMAZING 🙂

I love Wii – the tennis game looks easy but my arms are always sore at the end of a game!

  14. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on December 17, 2011 at 7:38 am

I used to have Dance Dance Revolution back in high school and I was always surprised at how much it got my heart rate up! I remember reading an article somewhere about people who had lost significant amount of weight using DDR-like games as their only form of exercise, which I thought was pretty neat!

  15. Laura @ LauraLikesDesign on December 17, 2011 at 7:41 am

I’ve got a couple of dance dvds that I’ve picked up over the years and the moves are pretty lame. Do you have any suggestions for good ones?

    • Fitnessista on December 17, 2011 at 1:39 pm

just dance is a lot of fun! i haven’t seen anything with complex/crazy moves yet, though

  16. Hillary on December 17, 2011 at 7:42 am

When my boyfriend first bought his Wii, I was ALL OVER the boxing game. That stuff was intense, and I loved it!

    • Hillary on December 17, 2011 at 7:42 am

Oh, and does anyone remember the Track and Field game on the old school Nintendo? Also an oldie but a goodie!

  17. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga on December 17, 2011 at 8:06 am

The salmon looks great but even cuter is the picture of you working out in front of your Tv. The fact that you’re this far along, still working out, still cooking…still doing anything other than sitting on the couch begging for a foot rub is pretty much amazing 🙂

  18. Kaila @healthyhelperblog! on December 17, 2011 at 8:12 am

I love the wii fit games! My faves are the step class and the kung fu! So fun!

  19. Barb on December 17, 2011 at 9:03 am

I have Zumba for the Wii and it is SO fun.. They give you a belt to wear (well, if it could fit around your belly!) and you stick the remote in there so you are hands free. I really enjoy it!

    • Fitnessista on December 17, 2011 at 1:38 pm

haha the belt might not work right now, but later, for sure! glad to know you like it

  20. Katie on December 17, 2011 at 9:14 am

I have not busted out my Wii for a long time, well we busted out rockband but not the wii fitness!

  21. Ashley @ My Food 'N' Fitness Diaries on December 17, 2011 at 9:34 am

i love the Just Dance game for the Wii! it’s so fun, and you can get quite a workout dancin’ up a storm to that thing. the third one is on my Christmas wish list! 😉

    • Fitnessista on December 17, 2011 at 1:38 pm

just dance is SO fun! i like the shake senora one the best 😉

  22. Jessica @ Dairy Free Betty on December 17, 2011 at 10:54 am

I have the EA sports active and I find it glitchy… I love the idea of it though!!

The Gold’s Gym Cardio Box is AWESOME – the workouts are actually pretty intense.

I sometimes use the Just Dance videos for a workout sometimes too, I just close the curtains and really go for it!!

  23. Melanie on December 17, 2011 at 12:54 pm

It would be so great if you could do a post on working out throughout your pregnancy. All the preggo ladies out there would love to know how you do it, how you feel, How much is ok, etc…:)

  24. Kelly on December 17, 2011 at 1:12 pm

how cute does bella look in that first pic!!! I am actually thinking of incorporating wii as my fitness for the day as well 🙂

  25. Pam on December 17, 2011 at 1:25 pm

On Thanksgiving we played Dance Party 3 on the Wii system. Four people could play at a time, and we had a blast. I even broke a sweat to LMFAO’s Party Rock. My 15 year old nephew was the only male, and he seriously kicked our butts on every dance. (He must stay up nights and practice). Grandma even mentioned wanting a system of her own at home after dancing to Cee Lo Green’s Forget You.

    • Fitnessista on December 17, 2011 at 1:35 pm

      haha i love it!

  26. Allison on December 17, 2011 at 1:40 pm

I got my Dear a Wii for Christmas [shhh]- I totes need to get some fitness games… I wonder who will be using it more 😉

  27. Lindsay Loves Veggies on December 17, 2011 at 2:13 pm

We just bought a Playstation 3 with the Move package. I bought a couple “games” for working out, and I’m really excited to try them out. One’s called Fit in Six and has a variety of strength, cardio, and stretching workouts, and the other is a UFC MMA-fighting style workout game!

    • Fitnessista on December 17, 2011 at 2:21 pm

      those sound AWESOME

  28. ash on December 17, 2011 at 5:18 pm

  29. Joy on December 18, 2011 at 7:27 am

I have the jilliAn michaels fitness ultimatum and I love it! It does wear me out 🙂 the graphics are lame but who cares?

And I have Michael Jackson’s dance game – love and it is a little work out

  30. Haley @Fit, Young, and Fabulous on December 18, 2011 at 9:57 am

  32. Steffany on December 19, 2011 at 9:03 am

The Wii is always forgotten about in our household though I did used to love the EA Active games ! I was shocked at how sore I was after some of them, like the sport circuit !
