Walking into spiderwebs

How’s your weekend going so far? Yesterday was Family Friday at the squadron bar. It was great to catch up with the wives (the theme was Hawaiian BBQ) and hold Livi while she sucked on cantaloupe- she LOVED it- and we all had a lot of fun. Last night was also my last Friday night (for a while) heading to the gym to take Summer Shape Up pics and video. Kind of sad!

Jump

And yes, jumping is involved ;)

Walking back to my car, I noticed that the same spider and spiderweb were in the flower planter, surrounded by palm trees- the web has been there at least a month.

Spiderweb

(Sorry to any arachnophobes out there!)

It’s funny because before, I would probably think “ew, a spider” and forget about it. Now, I stop to admire the spider’s intricate work and the fact that the web is still there, and no one has messed with it.

I definitely work in a land of animal friends -one of my coworkers dove into the pool today to pull out a bee that was drowning- which definitely makes me feel like they’re “my people.” But at the same time, even though it’s gotten better, I definitely have my moments where I feel like I don’t belong there.

Speaking of work, I was a hungry monkey at work today, and I think my breakfast threw me off.

Breakfast 2

No eggs nor oats: a turkey wrap with avocado, greens and Goddess dressing. It was amazing, but I was hungry about 4 seconds later and all I had was a Larabar since my classes were pretty easy this morning (assisting and a treadmill class).

We always have tons of sugary treats in the break room, and I make it a goal to have a little taste unless something is especially incredible, but today on my way back from teaching, I thought to myself “whatever is in there, I’m going after it.” To my delight, they had basil potato salad (!) and chicken sausages from the resort dining room. It was like Christmas ;)

A smoothie and a muffin to take back with me:

Zumba time!

Hope you’re having a great day!

  1. We went to see Magic Mike last night and the theater was PACKED. I mean, every seat was taken. It was the last scene when Tatum was reflecting during a strip show that was getting super hot and BAM! The electricity goes off!!!! Picture 500 screaming women!!! The movie was awful, boring plot line but those butts….kind of made it all better.

  2. I have not seen MM yet….BUT IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN NOW! I have seen the commercial for it waaaay to many times to not go. Give me some Channing Tatum anytime! :)

  3. I literally just watched the trailer for Magic Mike, but it’s not coming out over here in Germany until August….AAAAAAaaaaaahhh, soo many adorable men in one movie.
Maybe it’s good that I don’t get to see it now, otherwise I would be too distracted….

  4. I saw MMike yesterday with some friends. You could wait to rent it but fun to see with the girlies. M. McConaughey was the best to me.

  5. Yes, I saw Magic Mike, and yes, you absolutely want to see it ASAP! Haha.

  6. Kristen says:

I’ll probably just wait until that movie is on demand because I hear it was just ok….but Channing Tatum stripped down??? Who gives a crap if the movie itself sucks!! BTW, he’s from my hometown. I’m thinking where the heck was he when I lived there?!?! I know I never saw him because I would for sure remember if I did :)

  7. I knew I had to see Magic Mike ASAP, so I went last night. sooo much eye candy! ;)
The plot was a little weak but lets be honest, that’s not why we all go to see it! Plus it was hilarious!
and Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey were perfect.
Between the Fifty Shades of Grey phenomenon and this movie, women around the world don’t have too much to complain about!

  8. Magic Mike is definitely not worth seeing in theaters. I went to watch Channing Tatum dance…unfortunately, the trailers had already revealed all of the best moments. I got tired of seeing men in g strings after the first time and the plot was anti-climatic.

  9. your description of the employee breakroom just brought me back a couple decades when I used to lifeguard in h.s. at a super post country club and they’d have fancy banquets and weddings there and they’d bring the extra food to the break room sometimes…it was like xmas in july, you’re right!

  10. My girlfriend and I (whom I haven’t spent time with in SO LONG) are planning to see Magic Mike simply because I am old, married woman, and she recently became a mom… so basically we want to relive our high school days of being giggling teenage girls. :-)

And I have a WONDERFUL IDEA!! If you’re sad about week 4 being the last week, you can totally extend it for four more weeks. Just a thought… ;-) I’m loving your summer shape up!

  11. Just saw MM with my girlfriends. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Plot line was just okay, but the eye candy was AMAZING. Channing Tatum & Alex Pettyfer were rocking some HAWT bods! Def a great movie to check out with your lady friends!

  12. Michelle says:

Sadly, Magic Mike was terrible. Like really, really bad. The dancing scenes were awesome because Channing Tatum can move but sadly nothing else was that great!

  13. I liked Magic Mike! Really fun to see with some girlfriends in a crowded theater haha :)

  14. What kind of turkey do you buy???

  15. Magic Mike was AWFUL! The only thing of any value in it was Channing Tatum. Don’t waste your money!

  16. I saw Magic Mike this morning with my girlfriends! At 10AM :) Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer were definitely wonderful eye candy, but the plot line got dull pretty quickly and I wasn’t content with the abrupt and unresolved ending. Plus all of the stripping actually got old! Strange hahaha

    • Ilene, I have to agree with everything you just said! :) I thought the plot jumped from one thing to another without developing any sort of real relationship between most of the characters. I actually fell asleep for a few minutes during parts of it. The stripping did get a little old towards to end. I kept looking at my phone to see if the movie was going to be over yet!

  17. I’m fascinated by spiders and their webs too! We get some pretty nasty ones here though. Your job sounds so fun!

  18. I love your Zumba shoes!! Looking forward to grocery list and this weeks workouts :)

  19. GREAT SONG!!!! :D

  20. I hope this isn’t too inappropriate haha…but my friends and I went to see Magic Mike this weekend and ate at PF Changs beforehand. We coined it “Changs and Wangs!” :)

  21. Yay for free food at work! I just downloaded that song and had it on replay while I did chores all day yesterday. I love it!

  22. I really hope that your post title is a nod to No Doubt and not just a coincidence! :)
