9/30: Meals, fitness and wildcats

Happy Sunday!

I wasn’t sure if this morning’s run was going to happen- we were up pretty late last night having a blast at the U of A game.

Me and tom

Our friends had some extra tickets in the skybox, so when I got off work, I came home to get ready, feed lovebug dinner,

(here she is doing “ET” to her uncle Kyle)

Liv doing et

and Mikaela came over to stay with sleeping Liv while we went to the game.

My dates:

The boys

I had a feeling that the skybox was going to be full of dudes, talking about football things -I love to go to games, but I’m not a big sports fanatic- but to my surprise, two of my good friends were also in the same suite.

Chatting with the girls,

glorious food,

Salad3

(I’ll spare you the rest of the blurry photos I took)

Us

and the cats (almost) won 😉

Game

Even though I was dragging a little this morning -I think I had a grease hangover from the curly fries that were consumed at midnight haha- I had plans to meet up with a friend at Sabino Canyon for a Sunday morning 7-miler. Best motivation to run? Have someone there waiting for you. There was no way I was going to flake out on her, so I went, and we had an awesome run. She’s done 43 (!!!) marathons, so it was a breeze for her, so we talked the entire time- always makes it go by faster.

When Liv wakes up from her morning nap, we’ll be off for the rest of the day’s adventures.

See ya later tonight with pics from the day and the October workout calendar!

xoxo

Gina

Love the plan for the week! Looks like a fun night last night! I love football season! I am in love with that ET picture! She just looks so happy!

Aw! Love the ET pic 🙂

I love working out with someone! My best friend is a huge runner and whenever I see her (she lives in NC and I live in Boston so I see her maybe once a year) we try to go for a run. It is so nice to have a friend who will workout with you!

    • brittany on September 30, 2012 at 3:03 pm

BTW I showed my mom a picture of Liv and the first thing she said was “she is beautiful. She is such a beautiful baby!” and my mom is brutaly honest when it comes to her opinions (when my cousin had her 4th baby my mom said “she is so ugly” (never said that to my cousin of course!). She was an ugly baby but now is a beautiful 4 year old! But my mom is really honest) so for her to say that a baby is beautiful, is sort of rare! I can’t wait to see Oliv grow into a sweet little girl!

      • Stephanie on October 1, 2012 at 6:31 pm

I agree that Olivia is beautiful but I disagree about any babies being ugly. I don’t think that is possible and it is pretty mean to say that. That is something maybe I would have thought (not said) before I had one of my own but after carrying and giving birth to a baby I would never call (or even think) another baby is ugly.

        • brittany on October 3, 2012 at 5:02 pm

Well I am sorry if I offended you by saying this. I was not trying to offend anyone. I shouldn’t have said ugly. That was not the right word to say. I should have said my cousin wasn’t very cute. I believe that children are a gift from God and I would never call God’s creations ugly. I totally understand what you are saying and I am really sorry if I offended anyone. I was just simply trying to show that my mother is extremely honest. In my culture, we are loud and will voice our opinions about everything. My mom will say a baby is cute or adorable but wont always say that a baby is beautiful. That is all I was trying to say. I should have worded it differently. Again, I am sorry if I said something that I shouldn’t have. It was not my intention at all

          • stephanie on October 3, 2012 at 8:50 pm

I appreciate the apology although its not like you have to apologize to
Me since you didn’t say I was ugly. 🙂 Ive been guilty of thinking a baby wasn’t that cute etc before but now that I have one I think they are all beautiful. I don’t think you had bad intentions and I never post comments for dramas sake. I just wanted to note that all babies ARE gifts from God.You put it best 🙂

I’m going back to work tomorrow after a summer off plus a few extra weeks maternity leave so I’m going to try to make a schedule and plans for the week. I think it will make the transition easier. Thanks for the inspiration!

  6. Averie @ Averie Cooks on September 30, 2012 at 2:54 pm

Love the first pic of you and Pilot! You guys look adorable together 🙂

  7. Julie on September 30, 2012 at 2:59 pm

Wow, 43 marathons! That’s impressive. What’s the average on that per year?!

  8. Lisa on September 30, 2012 at 3:22 pm

The plan for the week sounds great! What a fun night, love the picture of you and the Pilot.
Football season makes me excited even if I don’t watch it much, since it is just so cozy with all the Fall time activities!
Awe. That ET picture is too funny.

It is always easier to work out when you have someone that is waiting for you. It is just impossible to let them down!

  10. Amanda @ .running with spoons. on September 30, 2012 at 4:27 pm

Sounds like a really fun night! I know what you mean about being into the atmosphere without really being into the sport… it’s the same with me. It’s all about good friends and good company, no matter what team wins 🙂 And this week I’ll be working on a new bar recipe that I’ve been playing around with in my head, and just trying to spend as much time as I can outside before the weather turns nasty.

  11. Natalie @ FreshLifeFindings on September 30, 2012 at 5:17 pm

Love that pic of you in the U of A shirt! You guys are so cute together. And you look great! I’m glad you guys enjoyed some time out on the weekend! A run is always easier when you know you have a friend to run with 🙂

  12. Aubrey on September 30, 2012 at 5:23 pm

I know it’s not until NEXT Saturday, but I’m signed up for my very first (!!!!!) bootcamp class. I’m hella scared but suuuuuper excited too. I’ll be going with my cousin (who takes this class all of the time). Wish me luck (and that I won’t die – haha)!

  14. kirsten on September 30, 2012 at 6:50 pm

I was there last night too! That was a good game until 5 minutes til the end 🙁

  15. Amber on September 30, 2012 at 7:44 pm

Just wanted to let you know that I made the sweet potato chilli recipe you posted the other day — amazing! I was worried it would be too spicy, since I have the spice tolerance of a child and you do not, but it was perfect! Thanks =)

  16. Meg on September 30, 2012 at 7:57 pm

LOVE the ET shot! SO CUTE! I love these Sunday posts, girl!!!!! You are SO organized! And it’s also a great pic of you and the pilot before the game!

  17. Lauren @ Fun, Fit and Fabulous! on September 30, 2012 at 8:44 pm

Liv and the ET picture is too cute!!! I spent a good bit of the afternoon today preparing food for the week. Apple and turkey fittata, zucchini hummus, and burbon apple pork all mixed together to make my kitchen smell amazing! 🙂 I’m glad you had fun at the game!

  18. Cher @ Weddicted on September 30, 2012 at 9:14 pm

Haha! The ET pic is way too cute!
And your meal list has me wanting applesauce now! Mmm!

  19. Stephanie @ Legally Blinde on September 30, 2012 at 10:56 pm

Awww, that picture of Liv with Kyle is absolutely adorable! She has the best smile!! Good job on getting your 7 mile run in – that’s great, and really inspiring. As for meal-planning for the week, I just took Mama Pea’s pumpkin streusel swirl loaf (http://peasandthankyou.com/2012/09/27/pumpkin-streusel-swirl-loaf/) out of the oven (it smells amazing!!) and I’m planning to make your carrot beet & bean burgers this week. Oh and I’ve got some amazeballs in the fridge!

I have a friend visiting me for a couple of days so I’m planning on convincing her to come to a Zumba class that’s just started up in my town!

She is an absolutely gorgeous kid!

  22. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on October 1, 2012 at 8:10 am

I’m not a big sports fan either… but it’s still fun to go to games and hang out. I went to my school’s Homecoming this weekend and I had no idea what was going on but still had a blast!

This week I plan on making chickpea patties and Mediterranean cod!

  23. Dani @ Live Lightly on October 1, 2012 at 11:07 am

Congrats on doing the 7 miler! I know you recently started getting back into running, and I was wondering if you ever have to take walking breaks during your runs? I just started the C25K program because I have never been a runner and I signed up for my first 5K recently. This running thing is no joke! But I am excited to continue to build my endurance and maybe THINK about a 7 miler one day!

    • Fitnessista on October 1, 2012 at 11:46 am

hey girl! i’ll walk occasionally, but usually i maintain a pace where i don’t feel like i need to walk. also, if i walk, it’s SO much harder for me to run again!! keep up the awesome work with c25k- it’s a great plan
      xoxo
