Strength/Tabata Combo

Hi friends <3 Thank you so much for the wonderful comments on our family photos. Hope that those of you who celebrated yesterday enjoyed a lovely Christmas!

Per usual, ours was filled with family, food, relaxing and shenanigans. <— Everything I could ever want from a Tucson holiday, surrounded by my favorite people.

The adventures started off with Christmas Eve dinner at my dad’s house.

Dads tree 1 of 1

We had an amazing feast (tamales, beans, enchiladas, salad, taquitos… )

Dessert

(a peek at some of the desserts)

and the cousins always have a little dinnertime prank. We’ve walked into the dining room wearing tuxedo shirts, all plaid, bibs, and this year:

Mustache

I mustache you how sexy you think the Pilot’s unibrow is. 😉

Livi had a blast with the family, and was kind of in gift shock. It was adorable to watch her try and comprehend that the packages were for her and how to open to them.

Opening gifts 1 of 1

After we came back to our house, Livi went to sleep, and we were up late getting things ready for Christmas brunch, last-minute wrapping and assembling.

And then: Santa came!

Santa came 1 of 1

(the kitchen is Kid Kraft and the trike is a Joovy)

Walking down with Livi on Christmas morning is one of my all-time favorite things. She was in her crib singing “Hot Potato” and when we went to tell her Santa came, she was so shocked and excited.

Walking down stairs

We almost didn’t get her in on the annual family tripod photo,

Me and tom 1 of 1

since she was busy wheeling around on her new ride.

There we go 😉

Xmas fam 1 of 1

Everyone came over to eat brunch and open gifts together.

(Look at Christmas Luna!)

W meg 1 of 1

(new apron from Kyle and Meg)

I set out some appetizers:

Appetizers 1 of 1

Paleo fruit cake, crackers, mimosa and coffee stuff, cheese plate:

The Pilot made some fresh egg nog:

Nog 1 of 1 2

I put the bacon in the oven (sweet/spicy regular bacon, and turkey bacon)

and got started on the waffles.

They were the kids’ star of the show:

Waffles 1 of 1

(Giraffe, elephant and lion waffles! The girls went crazy for them)

Madre also brought over beans, tamales, fresh tortillas, Mexican pastries,

GRAMMIES

Grammies 1 of 1

and desserts. Needless to say, eating was kind of an all-day event.

Everyone went home for late afternoon naps -after Livi crashed, I was out on the couch in a grammie/tamale coma- and for dinner, the Pilot roasted his first turkey ever:

Turkey 1 of 1

It came out beautifully. He said next year we’ll have to get a smoker and cook it in the yard. 😉 Bonus: we officially have all of the ingredients for day-after-Thanksgiving sandwiches. Oh yeahhhhhh.

The evening ended at our cousin’s house, watching the Nutcracker and while the little cousins danced around. It was perfect <3

This morning, we’re going to start taking down the decorations (womp womp) and take Livi’s trike to the park for a test run around the trail.

Hope you have a wonderful day!
See ya later on the Fashion page.

xoxo

Here’s the workout I did the other day. It only took 30 minutes, and was a BEAST. Hope you enjoy! <3

WOW!! Your Dad’s tree is impressive! (Maybe it just looks bigger in the picture but still!) It looks/sounds like you had a wonderful family Christmas and I’m so glad – all those desserts just look YUMMY! Eating was kind of the Christmas Olympics over here too. 😉
I had fun baking goodies this past week and today I’m off to send them to them the hubby who is deployed this Christmas. I think I might leave the decorations up till New Years, give myself an excuse to watch Christmas movies and listen to music a little longer. 😉 Livi on her trike, oh too cute!!

    • Fitnessista on December 26, 2013 at 5:03 pm

i’m pretty sure it was at least 12-15 ft. it touched the ceiling!!
hope you had a wonderful christmas despite the hubby being gone. he’ll love all of the desserts! hope he’s home soon to you.

Sounds like a wonderful Christmas. Maybe one year in the future we’ll host – but for now I just enjoy the traditions of going to mom and dad’s house. We did make wassail this year though (first time) and everyone loved it, so that may become a new tradition. 🙂

I think the best gift we ever got as kids was the big kitchen set. My dad put it together in the wee hours of the night and it was played with daily for years later. It’s so much fun to see how they’ve changed over the years. Livi will love hers!

    • Fitnessista on December 26, 2013 at 5:02 pm

i think i have to google what wassail is, hahah
she loves it already! such a fun kid toy to have.

crate and barrel! thank you 🙂

  22. mountain girl heidi on December 26, 2013 at 9:33 pm

Thanks for the workout!! Quick question! Do you have a video/picture/explanation of the single leg hip raise? I can think of many variations to this, and I’m not sure what you had in mind! Thank you!! (I got a gymboss for Christmas, and I hope it motivates me…I haven’t been very motivated with fitness since early fall.)

  23. Laura B @ FitMamaLove on December 27, 2013 at 12:10 am

    That workout sounds great!

You look adorable in that apron!

Having little ones on Christmas is the best! They get so overwhelmed with all the presents and excitement, though. I tried to reel in the family gift-giving a bit, but it was still a lot.

  28. Danny Lake on December 27, 2013 at 9:26 am

Merry Belated Christmas! Hope you had a lovely day! I’m sure you did from all the pictures!

Thanks for sharing the workout you did too! I will be attempting that after my feast on new years eve!

Happy new year in advance! =)

  29. Jessa O on December 27, 2013 at 1:00 pm

I love this workout! you live in Tucson. I am in Phoenix. It’s hard to celebrate Christmas when it’s 80 degrees. I grew up in the Midwest so I always associate snow with Christmas. I’m not complaining though.

  30. Stephanie on December 27, 2013 at 7:53 pm

Great workout! I did it with slight pregnancy modifications (no sit-ups and did a lower impact version of the jump squats and lunges) and it rocked! I pinned it too! Thanks for an easy to follow workout. Love it!

Ooh this workout looks awesome! I’m catching up on 2 weeks of blog reading, so I’ll have to try this soon. 🙂

My parents rented a big beach house so everyone could stay together this year and there was a huge toy room, complete with a toy kitchen. Tripp LOVED it. I was surprised he knew exactly what to do with everything. He even grabbed the spatula and flipped the fried eggs in the pan haha! Birthday present for sure. 🙂

Santa brought us a vitamiiiiiiiiiiix. I’m not excited about that at all. 😉

  34. Megan on December 30, 2013 at 10:41 am

Awesome workout – tabata’s always make me feel like I’m going to puke, but in the best way possible (if there’s a best way possible for that…?). Great start to a cold and icky Monday morning.
