the best fruit salad and a new Zumba video

Hi guys! How’s your day going so far? Lately, boatloads of fruit have been consumed in our house.

fruit salad with mint

This is the best fruit salad and I’ve been making it fairly often for the past few weeks. Livi goes crazy for it, and it’s the same salad I took over to Whitney’s to celebrate Easter with her family.

Jazz up your standard fruit salad with a squeeze of orange and fresh mint. This is the best fruit salad to bring to pot lucks or summer BBQs! fitnessista.com

Today, I thought I’d share a new Zumba video that I filmed a while ago. I filmed this one while we were in Tucson, but it got lost in the moving frenzy and I wasn’t sure that I loved it. It’s kind of grown on me, and since I’ve been asked to start regularly posting videos again, I decided to give it a whirl.

This would be a fun warmup before your cardio or strength workout, or fellow Zumba instructors, feel free to use or modify my choreo!

Hope you enjoy 🙂

What’s your current favorite workout power song?

I’m loving this one:

I can’t wait to do this Pitbull song for a warm up during my next Zumba class. I’m finally teaching next week! It’s been way too long 🙂

Going to pack a picnic with Livi and see where the morning takes us.

Have a great day!
xoxo

The fruit salad looks great. I usually add “Chaat Masala” (indian/pakistani mix of dried spices). It really brings out the flavor of the fruit with a little spice. I add the masala and let it rest, it melts into the fruits and the juices come out. Try next time!!

LOVE the Bridesmaids GIF. Accidentally busted out laughing at my desk at work. Avoiding any weird looks. OOPS.

That fruit salad looks so good!

I’m obsessed with pitbull! I think Josh gets annoyed every time I stop what I’m going when one of his songs comes on and start dancing. ;p

      omg, pitbull is the best

So fun to watch you do Zumba! My younger sister-in-law teaches Zumba and she took us through a dance to “Timber” at a wedding this weekend. So fun! I love letting loose in Zumba, since it is so incredibly different from the classes I teach, which are Les Mills BODYPUMP, BODYATTACK and CXWORX. Have a great Tuesday:)

    • Fitnessista on April 29, 2014 at 4:08 pm

ahhh i love timber for zumba 🙂
and yes, totally different than les mills stuff!

I love fruit salad but it’s been forever since I had one. This looks easy and sounds so good! Love the Bridesmaid gif. That’s definitely one of the best lines of the whole movie 🙂

    That fruit salad looks amazing!

Tip: You can use a straw to pull the stem out of strawberries.

Pitbull is seriously got his own space on my Ipod for all of my workouts. Let’s Go by Calvin Harris is my current go to song. Love your pretty salad!

That gif is awesome! I love fruit salads. I usually top mine with lemon or an orange, they add such a nice pop of flavor.

  14. Tracy on April 29, 2014 at 1:47 pm

That salad makes me so excited for summer!! Yum

Congrats on your Zumba gig! Great first step into the fitness community there! Any progress on finding a yoga studio?

    • Fitnessista on April 29, 2014 at 4:01 pm

i’m so excited about it! 🙂
no, not yet, but i haven’t really tried. i’ve had to audit classes at a club where i may be teaching, so i didn’t want to overdo it. plus, i want to get a free week pass to a new studio when i can actually use it 🙂
      hope you’re having a great day <3

  15. Morgan on April 29, 2014 at 3:44 pm

thanks for the easy addition to our housewarming menu haha 😉

  18. Michele on April 29, 2014 at 10:04 pm

Love the Zumba video! I’ve been waiting for one of my Zumba instructors to do a routine to that song. As for Pitbull, no Zumba class is complete unless at least one Pitbull song has been played! Love him! I listen to Pitbull radio all day long at work on iheart radio. I’ve been known to do a little Zumba in my chair! 🙂

    • Fitnessista on April 30, 2014 at 12:22 am

i couldn’t agree more. it’s not zumba until pitbull is there 😉

  19. Lucie@FitSwissChick on April 30, 2014 at 3:48 am

So cool you will be teaching again! Can not wait to hear more about how it goes!

  20. Angie on April 30, 2014 at 10:35 am

Yumm that salad looks amazeballs. I might have to recreate it (minus the mint though). My biggest craving lately is yogurt parfaits. Now that i am in my 2nd trimester I am starting to crave fruit and yogurt (thankfully not junk). I cant wait to go to SD and try the Acai bowls at Tiki hut.

You will have to let me know where you are teaching Zumba…i would love to take your class when i am in SD. I love taking Nobuko’s saturday morning Zumba class at 24 hour fitness on Balboa ave when i am home on leave.

  21. Livi on April 30, 2014 at 2:57 pm

I can’t wait to grab some local fruit here!! That salad looks so amazing!
