Friday Faves, savory dream, orange-iversary

Hi friends! Happy Friday! Hope your morning is off to a great start and that you have some fun plans this weekend! Livi is getting her 3 year photos taken, tomorrow is the launch at our gym (if you’re local and would like to come, let me know!), and Sunday I’m teaching 3 barre classes. Whoosh. I’m excited to chill with the fam and getting ready for a little trip next week.

Be sure to head over to the family page for a giveaway (includes a Target gift card!):

Bitsys brainfood

And now onto Friday Faves! I always enjoy putting together this little list each week and will add to it as the week goes on. It’s always fun to hear what you’re loving, too, so please shout it out in the comments and feel free to link away!

Some things I’m loving this week:

These flats are everything.

Orangetheory anniversary.

Orange iversary

(With Coach Jolen, one of my faves)

It’s hard to believe that it’s been one year since my first orangetheory class! It remains one of my favorite workouts ever. I’m so happy that it still feels good for now and I’ve been able to continue with classes using some modifications. The coaches push me to work harder, and going to orangetheory has definitely improved my running speed -finally got that half marathon PR- and fitness levels. I’m able to lift heavier now than I did last year!

Justin Timberlake and Garth Brooks singing “Friends in Low Places.”

P!nk. I just love her.

Thanks to Lowe’s for looking out for the bees. <3

This lunch. I just had to show you.

Breakfast lunch

(Spiralized zucchini cooked in a little olive oil with salt and pepper, 2 eggs over hard with sriracha, 1/2 avocado and 2 slices of organic turkey bacon. It made all of my savory dreams come true.)

Yoga for different body types or doshas.

I’ve listened to this song so many times this week and can’t wait to download the full album on the 28th.

Pretty cauliflower at Whole Foods.

Cauli

The Sally Hansen gel line! I picked up the pink color, totally skeptical that it would last longer than a few days, as I’m pretty rough on my nails with teaching/cleaning/life. It’s been 5 days and there’s only one tiny chip. I’m a believer.

Sally hansen gel 1 of 1

The moral bucket list

9 years away, but still so relevant and beautiful to read.

An arm-sculpting yoga sequence.

A “gym” for women in the 1940s? I keep thinking it looks like a bakery haha. And now I want to do victory rolls in my hair.

Happy Friiiiiiday!

xoxo

Gina

Thanks for sharing! I love all the links every week.

You reminded me that I need to paint my nails again sometime. I have so many colors, but once I take it off it is hard for me to remember to paint them again unless i do it immediately after taking off the old color!

Love your shirt in the first photo! Do you have to buy a special light to “set” the gel polish, or do you just paint it on like normal nail polish?

    • Fitnessista on April 17, 2015 at 7:25 am

Thank you! Nope, it goes on and sets like regular polish

      • Andrea Gubert on April 17, 2015 at 3:34 pm

I got the sally hansen gel nail kit with the UV light included, and it’s incredible. My polish lasts for at least 7 days or more … and looks like a professional shellac manicure!

Orangetheory finally came to my neighborhood and I LOVE the classes! They are so challenging and are a fun way to mix things up. So glad I read about those classes on your blog!

  4. Barb on April 17, 2015 at 7:38 am

YES to that nail polish! Someone recommended it to me and I am sold!!!! And how awesome that it comes off with regular nail polish remover?!

    • Fitnessista on April 18, 2015 at 4:52 pm

      it is AMAZING

  5. Hayley @ Full of Life on April 17, 2015 at 7:40 am

Loved the Pink article, she rules. An Orange Theory studio just opened down the street from me and I hope to try it at some point! It looks intense but fun!

    • Fitnessista on April 18, 2015 at 4:57 pm

it is! such a great workout 🙂

  6. Jenny @ apples &kale on April 17, 2015 at 7:41 am

Nice nails! 🙂 I have a UV lamp but never do my own gels at home because I feel like it ruins your nails, so I may have to give that system a try. I just ordered Formula X polish from the sephora sale, though, so that will be first! 🙂

That video of the 1940s “gym” for women made me laugh out loud. so ridiculous!

  9. Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries on April 17, 2015 at 8:02 am

Yes to the Sally Hansen Gel line! I love it too! Except I have yet to find the clear coat … every time I check for it at Target, it’s out. Grrr. Even without it, it still lasts longer than regular polish though. Love the color you chose!

  10. jodie on April 17, 2015 at 8:08 am

I am right there with you in the nail polish. When I do my own nails it does not last more than a day or 2 but I will try the Gel line.

That meal! I think it might be time for a second breakfast. I’ve been interested in doing OrangeTheory for a while, but can’t find their pricing info for packages… do you mind sharing about how much is it for a package?

    • Fitnessista on April 17, 2015 at 8:16 am

Ahh it was so good! I think it varies depending on where you live, but I pay 69/month for 4 classes

I like Sally’s gel, but I really really love Revlon’s Colorstay Gel Envy. I use two coats and a top coat and I only paint my nails every other weekend. Love it.

That lunch looks so good! I’m craving avocado!
    Have a great weekend!

  17. Ashley @ A Lady Goes West on April 17, 2015 at 10:50 am

Hi Gina! Congrats on your OT anniversary! A new one is open up near me next week! More to come on that:) And I have been wondering about that gel polish, so I will be sure to get it. I hate chipping and haven’t gotten a gel mani in about a month, so I’m in need. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! I’m taking the weekend off from workouts for once. I need it. I taught four BODYATTACKs and two BODYPUMPs in the past five days! AH!

    • Fitnessista on April 18, 2015 at 4:58 pm

i don’t even know how you do that. i would be so sore!!

  18. Alex @ True Femme on April 17, 2015 at 11:10 am

I desperately want a spiralizer so I’m just going to order one. Spiralized zucchini sounds like the most refreshing summer lunch or dinner to me. I’ve been really sick all week with a terrible cold, so I’m currently loving Quick Defense capsules, Echinacea drops, and Black Elderberry Syrup. I haven’t been able to workout since Monday so I’m really itching to get back to my routine as soon as my body feels up to it! Congrats on the orange theory anniversary!! Also Sephora is having their VIB sale right now (I’m sure you’ve heard, but just in case you hadn’t I wanted to put that out there!)

    • Fitnessista on April 18, 2015 at 4:58 pm

YES!! thank you for reminding me!!
hope you’re feeling much better <3

  19. Erika S. on April 17, 2015 at 1:54 pm

I love these posts. Gets me reading things that I may not have come across.

I need to try the sally polish…I tried the revlon one and was not in love w/the color. That pink looks awesome!

Am I the only one who was thinking foam rollers and cellulite smoothers during the 40’s workout? I wanna try…hahahaha!

I don’t have a spiralizer but I use my OXO mandoline to just julienne zucchini and it’s delish!

  21. Britt@MyOwnBalance on April 17, 2015 at 3:14 pm

That cauliflower looks divine. I love that nail color, it reminds me of the color I chose for my wedding: Minimalistic by Essie.

  22. Molly D on April 17, 2015 at 3:27 pm

OK that lunch is so similar to my favorite! I thought it was my own creation, but I use broccoli slaw instead of zucchini noodles. I need to add the turkey bacon 🙂 Is the gel nail polish harder to remove/damaging to nails? I need to try it.

  23. Melissa on April 17, 2015 at 4:40 pm

WHERE DID YOU GET THAT SHIRT???? I love it. My husband and I have been juicing and theres always beet in the juice we make! ok, so you know I love all the post you do- and how in the world do you get your eyeliner so picture perfect in every darn photo? Do you wear foundation at all ? always so pretty!

Does Orange Theory allow for not running on their workouts? I can only walk now due to my injuries last year.

Phantom will always be my favorite musical (can we say 80s baby?) – love this rendition with Josh Groban & Kelly Clarkson. But really, those two can never do any wrong in my eyes.

    • Fitnessista on April 19, 2015 at 2:39 pm

i totally agree. it was so beautiful! can’t wait to hear the rest of the album

  30. Erin Miller on April 22, 2015 at 1:01 pm
