‘Tis the Seasons(52)

Hi friends! How was your weekend? Hope you had a great one! Ours was packed with productivity and fun events; the perfect weekend mix of low-key and “get it done.” I also got to cash in on my Mother’s Day gift: sleeping until I chose to wake up! (<— nothing says “I love you” like the gift of sleep haha.) I actually ended up sleeping until 8:40, even though I was convinced I would wake up sometime in the evening, unaware of who I was or what was happening (and on a serious mission for food). 8:40, and I felt like I had slept for 10 years.

Some adventures from the weekend:

Friday morning, Livi and I stopped at Better Buzz on the way home. We were surprised with lots of rain at the end of last week, so it was perfect Best Drink Ever and kid’s hot cocoa weather.

Rainy buzz

For lunch, I made giant pitaya bowl, and Liv said, “Mama, I’m so glad you made this for me” and grabbed a spoon. We like to say “cheers” and clank our spoons together.

Pitaya bowl

Friday night was an orangetheory class -I was feeling pretty tired, so I took it easy and still had fun- and clean-out-the-fridge dinner at home. Saturday morning, the Pilot picked me up after Zumba and we headed to a Meet the Midwives event. I will definitely recap it on the Family page; I learned a lot and was so glad we went.

Saturday was Livi’s spring festival for her school, and I volunteered to bring some desserts. I made a double batch of vanilla cupcakes (using mix from Williams-Sonoma) with homemade chocolate buttercream and sprinkles.

(Somehow I forgot to take a pic of the finished product)

We also stopped at Hungry Lu’s on the way for an assortment of Italian cookies, including these macaroons.

Roooon

(AHHHHH)

They had jumping castles, face painting,

Face painting

(or “knee painting.” Livi got an adorable unicorn on her knee), a show by the kiddos and a raffle. It was absolutely adorable, and the weather cleared up just in time that everyone could be outside enjoying the afternoon. We took her to the same event last year, when she had just started at this school and we were still San Diego newbies. Everything still felt unsure as we were trying to navigate our new home, and it felt nice to go back this year feeling more “settled” (for now, at least). 🙂

Liv has been asking to go ice skating for quite a while, so Saturday night was the night.

Ice skating 2

I thought it would be sad to not be out there with her ice skating -I didn’t want to risk falling, and I’m already a clumsy person- but it was such a blast to watch. The Pilot held her hand as they skated around, and she LOVED IT. They also had large plastic seals that you could use to push your kiddo around the rink.

Tiny skates = one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen.

Since we were in the area and everything, Seasons52 happened for dinner. Years later, it’s still one of our all-time favorite places.

We got the lobster flatbread to start,

Flatbread

and for my entree, I rolled with the salmon salad.

The standard smiley photo was not happening haha. Just lots of sticking her tongue out and then hysterical giggles. The best.

Back to the Monday grind over here! Just wanted to say hello and hope you have a great morning. <3 I’ll be back later today with an insane breakfast/snack recipe.

xoxo

    That flat bread looks delicious!

She looks so cute sitting on the seal.

I love that Liv got her knee painted instead of her face haha adorable. And that she wanted to go ice skating in May 🙂

That’s funny you say you’re clumsy. I thought I was the only one or in just old haha! Fun weekend! I haven’t been to Seasons 52 in awhile. True Foods somehow always wins over them.

I drool over everything at Seasons 52! Yum!!!

I’m off to bake some Paleo Power Balls and then sneak in a run…if I don’t die in this heat first. Have a wonderful morning!

I read “plastic seals” without looking at the picture and since I’m clearly still asleep I pictured some sort of plastic covers for the sharp parts of her skates and was very surprised when I saw her sitting on an actual blue seal. LOL.

Just wanted to tell you that I have now taken 2 orangetheory classes at my local studio that just opened and I am in love! I even signed up for a membership yesterday! Thanks!

Looks like a great weekend! We have a Seasons right on the next block and it’s great. I always forget about it though and need to make it a point to get back!

Okay that seal thing IS the coolest! I want to ride it, especially since I’m the WORST at ice skating

  10. Britt@MyOwnBalance on May 18, 2015 at 9:15 am

That is so nice that Liv says Mama, I’m so glad you made this for me! Cooper turns his nose up at everything I make for him. Granted, baby food is not that interesting but seriously!

    • Fitnessista on May 18, 2015 at 2:49 pm

that’s her way of saying “i’m taking your food now” hahah
i think it’s how i get her to eat so many random things. i make it for myself, and then she claims it as her own

  11. Alex @ True Femme on May 18, 2015 at 9:21 am

My godson’s sister will also stick her tongue out and then laugh hysterically whenever I try to take her picture (or when I’m just sitting there). It’s the most amusing thing to her and I just don’t get it! Sounds like a fun weekend though! Hope you have a great Monday!

    • Fitnessista on May 18, 2015 at 2:48 pm

hahah! they are so funny when they do that 🙂
hope you had a great weekend!

  16. Meredith on May 18, 2015 at 10:36 am

Are you still doing the same ab/core workouts you were before you were pregnant or are you making any modifications?

    • Fitnessista on May 18, 2015 at 2:47 pm

no. i am a core modification machine 🙂 everything else i’ve been able to do about the same, but for core, i’m trying to be extremely careful. i’m definitely working on some posts about it!

  17. Kate @KateMovingForward on May 18, 2015 at 10:50 am

  18. Tracy on May 18, 2015 at 11:02 am

Ice skating? How fun! We love to go to the outdoor rink near us mid-winter.

Haven’t been to Seasons 52 in too long!!! Thanks for the reminder. It never fails! Yum

  19. Caitlin on May 18, 2015 at 11:02 am

I love love love Seasons 52 ever since my very first visit (which was inspired in part by your blog!) and the flatbread and salad is the perfect combo!
I suck at ice skating so I would be all about being pushed around on the blue seal.

    • Fitnessista on May 18, 2015 at 2:47 pm

      the best 🙂
i was thinking the same thing… kind of want to give it a try 😉

  20. Kelly on May 18, 2015 at 11:09 am

I am loving your blog lately. I started with katheats, and have made my way to yours (I still read and love both!) but yours offers more fitness and a little more realistic on the recipes and food options for a busy mom. But, anyway…I remember being pregnant with a little one to take care of, and it’s EXhausting!! Glad you got some sleep! Enjoy this time with her, being just the 3 of you 😉

    • Fitnessista on May 18, 2015 at 2:46 pm

thank you, kelly! i appreciate it so much and am so happy to hear you’re enjoying the blog 🙂
and yes, being pregnant with a kiddo is totally different than the first time (when i could nap whenever i wanted haha).
      xoxo!

  23. Natalie @ The Ravenous Mommy on May 18, 2015 at 11:57 am

The seal skating thing is genius!!

  24. Jamie on May 18, 2015 at 12:32 pm

I love the unicorn placement!! We have those same seals at our local skating rink in the winter… except I use them because I’m so so horrible! Haha. Hope you have a great week! : )

    • Fitnessista on May 18, 2015 at 2:44 pm
