“Work It” Walking Workout

Hi friends! Happy humpday! Hope your morning is off to a great start. I’m excited to bring you a treadmill walking workout today.

Some adventures from lately, as told from my iPhone:

Glowing in the spin room under the backlights. Class on Monday was a blast, as usual, and I added some new songs to the playlist. We all listened to the new Taylor Swift song (perfect for a steady seated climb) before it’s extremely overplayed.

Livi and I had a double date yesterday: two delicious meals out together. Usually I prefer to cook as much as I can at home, but it was one of those rare “meh” cooking days. Mid-afternoon, I was really hankering for an acai bowl, and I was stoked that Liv was on board. I didn’t know if we’d be able to finish both bowls, but somehow, we persevered. The acai-loving-apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. (Speaking of acai, I have an AMAZING new pitaya recipe for you this afternoon!)

Love our little lunch dates.

When the Pilot got home from work, I went to meet Jess for a class at Prana Yoga, which has become one of my favorite studios here in San Diego. We don’t live super close, so I don’t go as much as I’d like, but I’m always glad when I can make it to a class. The owner, Gerhard, is extremely knowledgeable and I love that he walks around the assist and adjust everyone during our practice. He helped me reach an entirely new variation of bird of paradise last night. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend checking it out. Classes aren’t super hot -which I’m thankful for, since I’m not able to do hot power yoga right now- and the flow is always unique. Sometimes classes become predictable, and for this one, I never know what’s coming next.

Dinner was at Native Foods while the Pilot got in his workout at the gym.

I had an awesome Bangkok curry bowl (brown rice with a coconut milk curry broth, kale, steamed veggies and blackened tempeh), and then Liv and I shared a vegan oatmeal creme pie cookie. It was just as delicious as it looks.

Treadmill Walking Workout

I’m off to a meeting this morning, but in the meantime, I wanted to share a new treadmill walking workout! I did this one last week, and it’s a great way to add additional challenge and engage various leg muscles. Incline walking is SO good for the bootay. 🙂 Here’s the workout if you’d like to give it a try!

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

I want an orange theory here in Dayton! I miss the city…sigh. The ups and downs of moving around a lot!

As I’m nearing my 3rd trimester I’m having to give up a lot of my favorite workouts (just impossible to do with this big ol’ belly!) I’m definitely going to have to try that walking workout this week.

Omg Liv’s EYEBROWS! They are magnificent! I hope she doesn’t go through the sperm-eyebrow phase that I did in middle school haha.

Hey Gina! Totally random, but I know you’ve posted about your attempts with coconut flour in the past. I’ve been experimenting with it and found the perfect way to make it fluffy and light, not crumbly! You have to FLUFF it first with a fork, and then measure out how much you need (I usually do 1 tablespoon per egg) and level off the measurement without packing it down! I also do mix half a mashed banana with the egg before adding the coconut flour, because it adds more stability to the final product and less “eggy-ness” (and also sweetness, of course). Also some baking powder and vanilla extract, if you want. I’ve made pancakes and mug cakes with this recipe before and they’re both amazing! Just wanted to share!

That Bangkok Curry Bowl looks to die for. It reminded me of the last time I was in San Diego we made a stop at Evolution Fast Food and it had AMAZING vegan options, I still dream about their sweet potato fries.

We have a Native Foods here in Chicago (not sure if it’s a chain) and the one time I went it was pretty good! Those bowls also look delicious and are reminding me that I need to eat something!

I didn’t know Taylor Swift had a new song out! Thank you for introducing me to it! I have only taken one spin class in my life however if it had been glow in the dark, I probably would have enjoyed it much more!

So many good songs are killed being overplayed. It’s a bummer!

  12. Britt@MyOwnBalance on May 20, 2015 at 9:59 am

I did a ton of walking when I was pregnant and after I had Cooper. I still try to walk with him in the stroller as much as possible.

  14. Sandy on May 20, 2015 at 11:38 am

Would you consider this to be more of a cardio work out or a lower body strength workout? Or just a mix of both??

    • Fitnessista on May 20, 2015 at 4:21 pm

cardio with a leg emphasis, but i wouldn’t sub it for strength training

  15. Heather@hungryforbalance on May 20, 2015 at 2:33 pm

I love that you posted this walking workout! I am having to take a break from high intensity workouts right now, so this will be perfect!
