weekends are for pizza

day dates with friends,

Day date

oh, and chores. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Pilot assembling crib

Round 2 begins, and it has been so much fun to sort through all of Livโ€™s baby stuff to use for her little sis. ๐Ÿ™‚

We ventured to Little Italy last night and decided to try out a new spot. Weโ€™re always on a mission to find the best pizza –as close to the real deal as we can find!- and Isola Pizza Bar did not disappoint. Itโ€™s my second favorite pizza here; 1st place currently goes to Caffe Bella Italia in PB.

Isola a quaint modern spot,

Isola interior

and since the weather was dreamy, we dined outside on the garden patio. I highly recommend Isola for a casual date night if youโ€™re visiting SD.

We shared an ensalata mista,

Salad mista

an olive and foccacia plate,

Bread and olives

and the delightful wood-fired pizza. Put an egg on top and Iโ€™m the happiest girl.

We also shared some gelato, which is freshly made in house.

Some more adventures from the weekend:

Bella + the belly

Belly and bell

(we were chilling here while our water heater was fixed. Hooray for hot showers!)

grilling that evening,

Liviโ€™s soccer practice,

out with friends,

and ladybugs.

(Livi loves insects and brought the ladybug inside to show us. I told her it was good luck!)

Saturday night, I headed straight to our yoga teacher training graduation party! I kind of wished I wouldnโ€™t have eaten so much during the day -my belly is at the point where it can only hold so much and tragically my eyes are bigger than my stomach often these days- because they had the most beautiful spread of Indian food Iโ€™ve ever seen. Now I have this crazy Indian food craving that wonโ€™t go away. It was a lot of fun to celebrate with my fellow yoga trainees and itโ€™s hard to believe that weโ€™re finished! Thursday nights will certainly feel empty without our weekly yoga sutra discussions.

Workout-wise, I ended up taking Friday and Saturday off, and was back at it with cardio at the gym and PiYo on Sunday. I always feel extra energized after a day of two off and am back in the gym like…

 (Oh yeah!)

(New smoothie love from Tiki Port: almond milk, banana, peanut butter, chia seeds, cinnamon, honey and kale)

This morning Iโ€™m off to BODYPUMP and then Liv and I have plans to get lost in the maze that is IKEA.

Hope you have a great day! Iโ€™ll see ya later this afternoon with a full recap of my Yoga Teacher Training experience. <3

Something to talk about: Weekends are for _________ ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Totally agree … weekends are absolutely for pizza! Glad you guys had a great weekend. You look beautiful and glowing!

  2. Weekends are for lazy mornings, relaxing runs, and chilling with the husband!

Looks like your weekend was a great one!

  3. Nutella gelato sounds like heaven!

  4. How is Caro doing? I feel like we haven’t seen any pictures of her lately.

  5. Weekends are for making & eating good food! I’ve never had egg on pizza although my pizza eating days are limited now that I found out I’m Gluten intolerant. Guess I’ll have to make my own at home!

  6. Weekends are for…whatever comes up! My 12 year old arrived home after a week gone for scout camp, I took a coworker to a SUPY class (She’s never been), and my boys and I went out with the COw and her daughter on the boat for some tubing fun a trip to Seattle for pizza. No one ever wants to play with the XOw and COw so we play together. ๐Ÿ™‚

Been thinking about you guys and the little one to be, praying that hole in her heart resolves on its own and, if not, you feel strong, supported, and faithful in the medical team to safely handle the repair process.

  7. The pizza you guys ordered looks really good. I can’t wait to hear about your yoga teacher training experience. It’s a dream for me (though it won’t be happening anytime soon), so I always find it interesting to hear other people’s stories.

  8. Fun & yum!

Weekends are for resting. Yesterday I spent THE ENTIRE (seriously. Hours and hours on the couch) day reading Harry Potter. I felt like such a kid again ๐Ÿ™‚

Looking forward to hearing about the teacher training!

  9. Weekends are definitely for pizza! My husband makes the best homemade pizza, so I always look forward to weekends for that reason.
I’m visiting SD in the fall for a work conference, so I’ll have to remember that place!

  10. I say that weekends are for pizza, too, but I’ll also add family + friends! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. That pizza, nom! I’m headed to Italy in less than 2 months and I cannot wait to try all the amazing food there ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Weekends are truly for ALL the foods. And dates with friends with outings based around food: brunch, dinner, coffee… is it lunch time yet? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  13. Ladybugs were my favorite “animals/bugs?” growing up! We even sent away for this ladybug house to “grow” our own ladybugs. They sent you an enclosed house/cage that was all fancy inside and had a place for water and special food I believe. You also got this temperature sensitive tube filled with the ladybug larva, which you placed inside and then waited for them to grow! Haha ladybug pets, for real!

  14. I love that picture of Bella and the bump! And all your yummy eats this weekend!

  15. Weekends are for recharging and time with the hubby and puppy. I love that pic of Bella and the belly! She’s so sweet!

  16. I agree. Weekends are definitely for pizza. Weekends are also for quality time with my husband and our dogs!

  17. I recently moved to SD and found out they opened Cafe Gratitude in Little Italy last week! I checked it out yesterday and it was AMAZING. You must try it if you haven’t already!

  18. I ate so much crap this weekend and it was delicious. Pizza is right…we got a large deep dish that lasted all weekend!

  19. For me, weekends are either crazy busy or totally relaxing. My PERFECT weekend would consist of a date night, time with girlfriends, some getting stuff done, good food, a few workouts and lots of time to decompress before the work week started again.

  20. Weekends are for napping!

  21. dat pizza tho…! It looks delish and I want some now..hahahaha!

Weekends are for champagne sundays (sorry I know you can’t indulge) with your fave gals…! I usually pick a food theme (eggs & potatoes, southern bfast, pancake bar) and ask my friends to bring bubbles and either a dish or ingredients for the theme…soooo much fun!

  22. Ok I really need to try this pizza and egg thing!
