Family: Weeks 33-35

And feeling….

35 weeks 1 of 1

Excited!

And slow.

I’m definitely in a third trimester slump right now. I feel completely normal, except that new normal is like a truck hit me. Doing basic tasks involve heavily weighing my options. (Do I really need to walk all the way to the kitchen to put this LaCroix can in the recycling? At this very moment, no.) I’ve been taking a lot of time lately to enjoy the moments when I do feel energized to be productive, and other than that, it’s been way more couch time than usual, which has been kind of nice. I’ve been spending a lot of extra time reading to Liv on the floor propped with pillows, playing make-believe with Livi and her dolls, or at night, watching Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders on the DVR.

I am a sugar monster. I think it definitely has to do with the lack of energy, but sweets are amazing right now. That is, until the crash hits.

I was also a bit of a cry monster, though it was nothing close to the great shrimp meltdown. I was weepy and pretty emotional last week, and had a couple of cry sessions that existed because I was so tired. I wanted to do things, didn’t have any energy, and felt frustrated. There are so many amazing aspects of pregnancy, and every day I’m so thankful for this experience and that sweet beeb growing in my belly, but in the spirit of keeping it real, there are some challenging parts, too. This second pregnancy has been harder on me physically -everything happens so fast the second time!- and emotionally (with the baby’s VSD and my low-lying placenta. Thankfully all has almost resolved -and in the grand scheme of things, they were smaller issues- but it’s been an emotional roller coaster.)

I’ve finally had more dreams about little miss and what she’ll look like. In my dreams, she looks very similar to Livi as a newborn, with dark hair and eyes. I read this Buzzfeed post with birth photos and just about cried my face off. It’s such a magical moment, and I can’t believe it’s almost here. Also, I’m surprised that no one guessed her name in the last post, even though you guessed quite a few of my favorites. We had a tricky time deciding because I wanted it to go with our last name (aka Harper Harney would be a little rough) and I also didn’t want anything similar to Olivia, or with an “A” at the end of the name. Charlotte was one of my top picks, and I also loved the name Natalie. But, the Pilot had a high school girlfriend named Natalie so that would be a little weird. Here’s another letter to add to the guessing game: E

Weight gain: 31 lbs

Belly button status: out for the count!

Workouts: have been pretty tame, but consistent. I’m modifying the 21dayfix workouts right now as a way to switch things up, in addition to TRX, walking on the treadmill, and lots of barre. Barre has remained my favorite class to teach and take this pregnancy since it still feels like a challenging workout, but isn’t painful in any way. I just modify the heck out of the core sections, and plan to continue teaching until the end of the month.

35 weeks at the gym

Baby-related purchases:

Zip-up jammies

Swaddles

A “going home” outfit (like a cute onsie/jumper that looked super comfy)

Cute headbands from Etsy

Bamboo Belly Bandit and hip shrinker (I wore these last time and will definitely do it again)

Glider for the den. We were looking at this one from Crate & Barrel, but I was on the fence since we haven’t seen it in person. I looked on Amazon, and ended up finding this one, which is usually $$$, for $700 off the full price. Done. The shipping on Amazon was also free (C&B is $99), and we can return it if it gets here and doesn’t work. I didn’t have much luck on the glider/rocker front last time, so fingers crossed this one is a win. 😉

Xoxo!

      Estée!

  12. Moira on September 9, 2015 at 3:55 pm

Thank you so much for all your pregnancy posts! I am 24 weeks pregnant with my first and I’m the first out of all my friends to have kids so I haven’t had many people to turn to about all the crazy stuff that happens during pregnancy. I really appreciate you sharing all these tidbits and I’m actually going to meet a doula next week! (something that I learned about from your blog) Keep up all the posts and good luck with everything!

  13. Lindsey on September 9, 2015 at 4:30 pm

I’m guessing Madeline. It’s my daughter’s name and it’s my very favorite little girl’s name. Congratulations! Two is definitely more than twice as hard as one, but it’s all 100 times more amazing. Seeing how much my daughter loves her little brother is, hands down, the most amazing thing ever.

  14. Danielle on September 9, 2015 at 4:44 pm

    My guess is Annabelle!

  15. Madelyn McCalmon on September 9, 2015 at 5:25 pm

  17. Jennifer l. on September 9, 2015 at 6:02 pm

      Elizabeth is my guess also!

  18. Julie on September 9, 2015 at 6:22 pm

You look so wonderful! My guess is Adele 🙂

  19. Jen on September 9, 2015 at 6:52 pm

You look so beautiful! I vividly remember that last month of pregnancy. I knew it would be my last so I tried to “enjoy” it but it was tough. Hang in there….it’ll all be worth it soon. You look amazing!

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2015 at 9:59 pm

same. i’m SO uncomfortable but i keep telling myself to savor it because it’s the last time. so crazy.
hope you have a great weekend!

  20. Sharon on September 9, 2015 at 6:56 pm

    I’m guessing Evie or Elle : )
The last few weeks of pregnancy are hard work, specially with a toddler! Rest up and enjoy the waiting game.

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2015 at 9:59 pm

thank you!! i’m trying to be lazy and sleep as much as possible 🙂

  21. Maria on September 9, 2015 at 7:02 pm

You look amazing! I’m also doing a modified version a 21day detox and so far i’m feeling great for being 31 weeks along. Trying to cut back on ice cream and pre-packaged sweets. Barre still feels amazing to me, but I’m definitely slowing down in the cardio department. Spin still feels good to me so I’ll keep doing that as long as I can. Is there a reason you repurchased the hip shrinx and the belly bandit? I still have both of mine from my last pregnancy.

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2015 at 9:58 pm

i did a lot of research online and they said to buy new ones if you want the same results, because the elasticity is different. i figured it was probably a scam to get people to purchase them again, but then again i was like, i’d rather just shell out the $ and be happy with the results than wish i would just listened to them

  22. Casey on September 9, 2015 at 7:45 pm

You look beautiful Gina! So excited for your little one to arrive. Those headbands are adorable! If you need more headband ideas, check out Headbands of Hope—seriously the cutest headbands and for each one sold, they donate one to a girl with cancer and donate $1 to childhood cancer research ??

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2015 at 9:57 pm

i love this cause. i will definitely check some out for the littles!

  23. Snow on September 9, 2015 at 7:56 pm

Im guessing Phoebe. Its our pick for girl (Oliver for boy) but we have a few more weeks till we find out!

  24. Lindsay on September 9, 2015 at 11:59 pm

You look so amazing! I am 24 weeks with my first, and have been a looong-time reader! 🙂 I love going back and re-reading your 1st pregnancy updates and then reading the current ones! What sizes did you buy for the Belly Bandit and the hip shrinker? Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy, you’re so close to meeting baby girl #2! xo

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2015 at 9:56 pm

congratulations to you!! <3 so exciting, and thank you for reading for so long
for the belly bandit, i got the bamboo in xs and the hip shrinker in xs/s. the belly bandit won't fit right away, so i asked for a wrap that they give to women who have had c-sections. i wore that for a couple of days until the belly bandit fit
      xoxo

  25. Elisa on September 10, 2015 at 1:28 am

My daughter is called Ester, so when I saw that the name has two e’s that’s obviously the name that came to my mind!

  26. Julia@yogawinehappiness.com on September 10, 2015 at 3:36 am

You look great! You’re in the home stretch! 🙂

  27. Jess on September 10, 2015 at 3:39 am

Getting so close! You are all baby! I have no clue on the name. Maybe Elle!

  28. Sara @ LovingOnTheRun on September 10, 2015 at 5:39 am

You are looking great! It’s hard to believe it’s almost here – I’m sure you are more than ready!

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2015 at 9:55 pm

      soo ready!

  29. Christa on September 10, 2015 at 8:07 am

Hey! I love your blog!! I think it’s awesome you are still teaching barre! I recently started teaching barre and love it. I have two little ones and may have a third baby some day. How has it been teaching barre through your pregnancy? Is it pretty easy to continue? How do you teach abs but not do them? Thanks for your advice!

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2015 at 9:54 pm

totally easy, because you can do as much or as little of the workout as you need. for the ab work, i just cue the heck out of it and will demo 1-2 and then coach

  30. Dietitian Jess on September 10, 2015 at 9:22 am

Melanie? Love the guessing games…. ! Looking great mamma!

  31. maggie airee on September 10, 2015 at 9:25 am

Eleanor? I truly love that name (and the nickname Nora)… definitely on my “names for a baby I don’t have yet” list.

  32. Molly on September 10, 2015 at 9:38 am

My guess is Eloise! I think it sounds nice if you call out both girls’ names : “Olivia and Eloise!”

  33. Phoebe on September 10, 2015 at 9:41 am

My guess is the newest princess with be named Elle.

  34. Natalie @ The Ravenous Mommy on September 10, 2015 at 9:50 am

    You look gorgeous!

My next guess is …. Annabelle 🙂

  35. Julia @ The Domestic Blonde on September 10, 2015 at 9:53 am

Ariel or Arielle!!! That’s my guess, based on the mermaid print you got 🙂 Do I win something!?

  36. Laura @ Semi-Vegetarian.com on September 10, 2015 at 11:16 am

When I first saw “Baby related purchases: Zip-up jammies” my first thought was that you meant zip-up jammies for YOU! Hahaha Dying over here as I picture a very pregnant woman in footie pajamas….

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2015 at 9:53 pm

this made me laugh so, so hard. maybe i’ll get some to wear around the hospital as a joke ahaha

  37. Kerry on September 10, 2015 at 11:52 am

Hmmm… my guesses are Elaine, Brielle, and Rylee since I know a few little girls born lately with those names. I was also thinking Leah, but that obviously ends with an “a” sound.

  38. sarah r on September 10, 2015 at 12:21 pm

I’m hoping its elodie! That’s my daughter’s name and I love it! 🙂

  39. masala girl on September 10, 2015 at 12:52 pm

i dont know if it’s pregnancy friendly, but have you tried honey? local, raw honey really helps with my allergies!! (and oh i remember the shrimp story haha. glad nothing that big has happened yet ;D )

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2015 at 9:51 pm

yes! i’ve been taking it, and it’s definitely helped, but this is an entirely different level. i finally emailed the midwife today and she said to take a claritin. it’s working wonders so far!

      • masala girl on September 10, 2015 at 11:01 pm

I used to take that up until about 2 years ago, it worked AMAZINGLY. For some reason, mine haven’t been as bad lately & honey is all I need. Hope it continues to work great!

But fyi, my dad would take 1/2 a zyrtec if allergies got really bad and Claritin didn’t help, before bed (only 1/2 bc they work REALLY well on him and he’s out cold haha), but that was like after 2 weeks of claritin. Good luck! 🙂

  40. Jessica on September 10, 2015 at 1:19 pm

Elizabeth or Madeline — im sure whatever it is, it will be gorgeous!! 🙂

  41. Julie on September 10, 2015 at 2:23 pm

Eloise!!! I’m obsessed with that name!

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2015 at 9:50 pm

i love that name, too, but the character in the books drives me crazy haha

  42. Erin on September 10, 2015 at 3:05 pm

I’m loving DCCMTT! I was heartbroken when they cut Jasmine before training camp. I like Megan!

    • Fitnessista on September 10, 2015 at 9:49 pm

yes! and breelyn (sp?) – that was such a bummer
megan is my fave, too! she went to U of A so automatically my friend haha

  43. Stacy on September 10, 2015 at 3:14 pm

    My guesses are…

    Danielle
    Annabelle
    Melanie
    Adelaide

  44. Laurel on September 10, 2015 at 3:27 pm

I’m guessing Isabelle. Or Eloise. Our youngest, Eloise, is about to turn 1.

  45. Arden on September 11, 2015 at 5:13 am

    Evelyn?

Classic name that’s making a comeback. And my wonderful mother’s name. 🙂

    • lindsey on September 12, 2015 at 9:27 pm

This is my guess too – such a sweet name! Evie (or however you shorten it!) and Livi are cute sister nicknames 🙂

  46. Sarah on September 11, 2015 at 10:07 am

Congrats on #2! I’m pregnant with my first, due Nov 12. Hopefully this isn’t a silly question, but do you wear the belly bandit and hip shrinker at the same time?

  47. queenoffitness on September 11, 2015 at 2:43 pm

my guess is chalene! since you love chalene johnson so much, it seems like a natural choice. although i really couldn’t see you having an olivia and a chalene. i agree with another comment that the names will be meant to sound nice together. can’t wait to hear her name!

  48. melodie on September 11, 2015 at 7:07 pm

Coming back for a second guess i just thought of. I’m kind of obssessed with naming babies….so i guessed noelle earliest in the week. My next guess is evelyn. 🙂

  49. Alexandra on September 12, 2015 at 6:08 am

Hmm Madeline, Brielle, Penelope? You’re so close!! So excited for yor family!
