Squashing my decor dreams

It’s now my desire to have a yard full of oddly-shaped pumpkins.

Weneedthese

Trader Joe’s has SO many good ones -check out the enormous squash thing- but alas, the Pilot was not on board with my plan haha.

How was your weekend? Ours was good: very relaxing, productive, and time with great friends. We didn’t have much on the agenda, so it was nice to just go with the flow and see what happened each day.

Like when this snuggle bug fell asleep on me,

Snuggle w liv

I put my feet up and binge-watched episodes of The Voice, which is fantastic this season so far. While all of the contestants are extremely talented, the best parts are Adam and Blake’s remarks/banter, and questioning how Gwen and Pharrell defy nature by never aging.

Some more adventures from the weekend:

Baking cookies with noodle

Beking with liv

I found this recipe online, and it is insaaaaane, as most recipes with 10 lbs of butter tend to be. I only made the following changes: gluten-free all purpose flour, and coconut sugar instead of brown, since we were out. If you’re looking for a cookie recipe -it is Monday after all- this is the one.

Friday night Panera dinner:

Panera pick 2

(Their Autumn salad = heart eyes emoji)

I’m still sticking with the workouts for the most part, and got in 2 miles of walking Friday, 2 miles of walking + some strength work on Saturday, and a modified Insanity workout on Sunday.

Saturday night, we met up with Jess and her daughter for the Halloween adventures at Belmont Park in Mission. The girls had a blast playing games, riding the carousel, and we ate dinner at Draft afterwards. It was too dark to get a good photo, but they have an excellent kale salad with salmon, which will be replicatedt for the blog sometime soon: kale, beets, pomegranate, onion, goat cheese, and seasoned grilled salmon.

Sunday, we met up with some friends at Pumpkin Station in Mission Valley before the usual Sunday errands. They have inflatable slides, rides for the kiddos, face painting, a petting zoo, and pumpkins for days. When we walked in the gate, Liv said, “This is amazing!”

She was a fan. 😉

Belly has surpassed pumpkin status.

Pumpkin and belly

This afternoon I have a midwife appointment, and going to do a little at-home barre workout. Here’s one of my faves if you want to get in a quick and intense workout at home.

Hope you have a wonderful Monday.
xoxo

Pumpkin belly! Love it, so close till you get to cuddle your sweet baby. Good on you for doing so many fun things while baby prepares for meeting mummy face to face. Plus doing a barre class… no wonder you have the best pair of legs ever! Big hugs as you wait (I waited 42 weeks for both of my babies so I know it can be an emotional rollercoaster being overdue!) xx

thank you! i’m trying to stay busy, otherwise i get really cranky and cry haha. thank you for the hugs- waiting is definitely an emotional roller coaster

Ha – I laughed at your comment about your belly surpassing the pumpkin – but the belly is cuter and won’t be there much longer!!!

It’s great seeing all the pictures of kiddos prancing around pumpkin patches. My facebook feed is full of them so it seems to be a general hit with little ones. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2015 at 8:52 am

haha thank you! i’m so ready 🙂
and yes, they tend to go crazy surrounded by pumpkins. liv was in pumpkin heaven

I had Panera for dinner on Friday, too! I was supposed to make chicken, but alas, it had not defrosted as it was supposed to 🙁 So turkey chili from Panera was an amazing substitute!

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2015 at 8:51 am

that’s what happened to us, too! i was going to make a turkey meatloaf, but before i knew it, it was too late to get started on it so we grabbed panera instead.

Ha! I had the exact same discussion with my boyfriend this weekend – I have been banned from buying any more TJ gourds :(. Apparently there’s such a thing as too many decorative gourds!?

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2015 at 8:50 am

      #gourdhoarder for life

      • Alana on October 19, 2015 at 2:18 pm

hahaha that hashtag cracked me up! My husband totally gave me the “wtf” look this weekend as I bought a boatload of the mini gourds from TJ’s. He was less than impressed, but they are making a great mantle decoration!

  5. Amanda on October 19, 2015 at 7:38 am

I keep walking by the weird gourd bin at the grocery store, but I know I’m going to give in soon! 😀

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2015 at 8:50 am

i’m going to sneakily add some to the yard and see if he notices haha

  6. Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious on October 19, 2015 at 7:41 am

I love all the deformed produce too. When I was out with my Mom this weekend she was discriminating against buying them and I said, but they need a home too!

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2015 at 8:50 am

exactly! they just need some love 😉

  7. Sagan on October 19, 2015 at 7:51 am

So much pretty in those squashes!

And now I want cookies. Mmmm.

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2015 at 8:49 am

  8. Ashley @ A Lady Goes West on October 19, 2015 at 8:33 am

You had a very “fall” weekend, Gina. I love the pumpkin patch pictures. And any day now … right? I can’t believe you are still so active! 🙂 I love it!

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2015 at 8:49 am

thank you, friend! it’s one of the few things keeping my sanity in check while i impatiently wait haha. hope you had a great weekend, too!

  9. Kristy on October 19, 2015 at 8:34 am

“and questioning how Gwen and Pharrell defy nature by never aging. ”
NO KIDDING! What is UP with that!? I want their secrets….. Also loving The Voice this season!

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2015 at 8:49 am

haha seriously! i’m like HOW DO THEY DO IT? 🙂
who’s your favorite this season so far? i love the last girl that went (she played the guitar) and is on pharrell’s team

  10. Katie @ Live Half Full on October 19, 2015 at 8:52 am

Good for you for staying so positive and busy!! It’s my due date today with no signs of baby coming soon and I’m going crazy! haha

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2015 at 8:53 am

oh, i’m going crazy, too! i think i cried twice yesterday? hope your baby is here soon <3

  11. Molly on October 19, 2015 at 9:01 am

It is hard to see fall activities with Liv in a tank and the Pilot in shorts. My fall is more like sweatshirts and fleece jackets (and sometimes hats and mittens).

    • Fitnessista on October 19, 2015 at 9:29 am

it certainly doesn’t quite feel like *fall* here yet. we’ve been melting! hopefully for halloween it will cool down a bit 🙂

  12. Julia @ Lord Still Loves Me on October 19, 2015 at 9:29 am

Thank you for the info on Belmont Park! I’ve been looking for a place to go, and that sounds like such a good time!!

  13. april on October 19, 2015 at 9:42 am

looks like a perfect fall weekend! i just love all things pumpkin, but really, who doesn’t? 🙂

…and seriously about gwen and pharrell! i’ve been a no doubt fan since i was 12 and gwen has not aged a day. it’s unbelievable!

  14. Amanda on October 19, 2015 at 9:45 am

Sounds like a lovely weekend!! I’m sure the waiting game isn’t easy, but good for you for getting out and being social and getting some exercise in! Sending good vibes that your new little lady is ready to make her appearance soon 🙂

  15. Ali's Mom on October 19, 2015 at 9:58 am

Just wanted to say I’m thinking of you Gina! I know how hard it is to go past your due date (my daughter was born at 41 weeks…good times). Sending you a virtual hug and wishing you a quick and seamless delivery 🙂

  16. Erin @ Her Heartland Soul on October 19, 2015 at 12:27 pm

Panera autumn squash soup is their absolute best soup!! I’m obsessed. I wrote a letter to them last winter after it went away and asked them to make it a year round thing. Sadly it didn’t happen so I eat extra now that it’s back. 😉

  17. queenoffitness on October 19, 2015 at 12:33 pm

I was thinking about you all weekend gina! i even scanned your FB feed to see if there was any “news.” good for you for being able to stick with the exercising. YOU GO GIRL (with raised fist).
the secret to pharrell’s and gwen’s age defying status….is called FAME sprinkled with botox, breast enhancement, personal chefs/trainers, and money. eeek, i think gwen looks too “plastic” these days! her brows or eyes were lifted too high and she looks way garish.

  18. Maria on October 19, 2015 at 1:30 pm

Hang in there lady! I can’t even begin to imagine how you feel. I just turned 37 weeks and I’m already anxious! I think Trader Joe’s called those Fairy Tale pumpkins 🙂 We’ve run out of room on our front step for anymore or else I would’ve purchased them as well.

  19. Shaina Anderson on October 19, 2015 at 2:49 pm

I LOVE the ugly pumpkins!! That’s all we have. I knew I liked you.

and the second that first real contraction hits, you’re going to be like “no no no no no I was just kidding I’m not ready!” ha <3

  20. Katie Hood on October 19, 2015 at 3:39 pm

Livi is the cutest. Oy. I can’t handle it.

Your pumpkin/belly pic is awesome. I hope you get to meet the littlest lady very very soon!

I’m going to have to try that cookie recipe. I have been craving something sweet all day long. Mmmmm… 🙂

  21. Julia@yogawinehappiness.com on October 20, 2015 at 3:47 am

I’m so inspired that you keep working out! I feel like I will just throw in the towel but hopefully not!! 🙂
