Thank you so much for all of the amazing survey responses, too. I’ve been sorting through everything and making a giant list of ideas and plans for 2016. Ya’ll have me very excited about the New Year! Also, please follow me on Periscope (fitnessista) if you want to join in some impromptu workout fun. 😉

It’s been a pretty great week. Yesterday was Livi’s first play ever, and of course, she crushed it.

The cutest little piggy I ever did see.

Livi at her play I’m so happy her school is giving each family a DVD copy of the performance so our family can watch it.

Later that afternoon, we took the girls to the mall for their Santa pic.

In the past, Santa has been hit or miss, and last year was the first time Livi let a candy cane convince her to have her photo taken. (In all fairness, it’s totally creepy to have to get a photo taken with a total stranger, so I get it. This is why I usually don’t push the Santa thing if she’s not feeling it.) This year, she walked right up and had a full conversation with him. When he asked what she’d like for Christmas, she said “a teddy bear.”

P was just like whatevs. You hold me? Cool.

We had dinner at Tender Greens after:

Here are some faves from the week and around the web:

#1: RETURN TO ORANGETHEORY. This was the #1 fitness event I was looking forward to post-baby, and it did not disappoint. I was totally roadkill, but in the best way possible. It was a power day, which is my personal favorite, and my body was like, “What is this burpee you speak of?” Class was fantastic, the instructor (Kelli!) was energetic and knowledgeable, and I left flying on a cloud of much-needed endorphins.

Back at otf

I walked almost the entire treadmill set, and still had 20 orange points! I’m excited to start building my strength and endurance back up.

Solid advice if you’re considering becoming a fitness instructor.

Validation. haha.

A morning breakfast date with my love (and P! Livi was at school). We got Better Buzz, and their oatmeal was served in this cute little container:

Buzz bfast

I had oats with almond milk, banana, dried cranberries and almonds.

P wearing real clothes. 🙂 She is usually is jammies, but she decided to test out her Freshly Picked moccs with her head wrap and “I’m so Fancy” onesie.

P and mocs

Healthier versions of favorite holiday cookies.

Me watching with a container or popcorn.

THE VOICE! (<— the Pilot and I call it “La Voz”)

I won’t spoil it if you haven’t watched the finale yet, but I stayed up wayyyy too late to get the news. It was my favorite season so far!

10 things I want my daughter to know about working out.

Fuller House is really coming.

Obsessed with these layered sweaters at Athro. (<— 40% off all sweaters right now! Merry Christmas to me? haha)

These two make my heart so happy.

Happy Friday, friends! What are you loving this week? Anyone else rekindled with an old fitness love?

  1. Hi Gina! My favorite day to TAKE an Orangetheory class is strength day, although the incline on the treadmill can be killer. And I tried out the power walking option once, and it’s seriously no joke. We have out OTF staff Christmas party tonight actually. Also that article written by Shauna about being a fitness instructor is ON POINT. She works at Barry’s in SF and her classes had the MOST UNIQUE exercises I’ve ever done. Seriously. Okay, happy Friday, my friend. Heading your way next week, woohoo!

  2. Fuller house….my husband has been talking about this for weeks! I haven’t rekindled with anything recently but lord knows I need some yoga… foam roller can only take you so far right?

  3. That outfit! I’m dying!! Especially the shoes. So so cute! Happy weekend! 🙂

  4. I love OTF too. I actually got started because of your recommendation, so thank you Gina! Now I’m much more excited about the class I have booked this afternoon. 🙂

    • Fitnessista says:

yay, so glad you’re a fan, too! 🙂 how’d class go today?

      • Fun, as always! 🙂 One of our trainers does a “fight club friday” boxing type workout once a month, and it was that class, so lots of kickboxing moves on the floor. It’s a killer class!

  5. Oh my your girls are just too sweet….especially P with that smile, LOVE! I am SO SO SO excited to just get into a fitness routine again! The last 6 weeks have been non stop on the go with 3 kids, sports and drivers ed:/ Once January hits we will be back to some sort of a normal routine again and we just bought (ok well about 6 months ago but we finally cleaned up the basement and set it up. Ok fine hubs did…) a new total gym get up, so am looking forward to getting into some weights!

    • Fitnessista says:

      thank you!!
totally know what you mean. it’s nice when things settle down a bit and you can get into a routine! congrats on your home gym- that is so awesome 🙂 have a happy holiday season!

  6. She’s so cute as a bunny!

I would be pretty excited too about my first workout back after not being able to exercise. I’m glad you had so much fun.

  7. I started OTF because of you too, Gina! It is my favorite group workout ever. Kelli’s classes are the best!

    • Fitnessista says:

yay! so happy you like it! she is seriously awesome. i was blown away and can’t wait to go back! allen and jolen are also my faves, but they have a lot of new coaches since i had to stop so i’m excited to take their classes

  8. I would boycott any company Chip Wilson headed. What a lu-loser.

Does the whole company pronounce Lululemon with 3 syllables, like he does?

  9. I can’t even handle P’s outfit, so adorable!

  10. So good to hear you’re rocking the fitness again! It’s hard to hold yourself back and do it slowly. Happy weekend before Christmas!

  11. Omg, she is so cute!!! Haha, a wonderful superstar piggy 😉

  12. I’ve managed to get in at least 15 minutes of yoga every day this week. Success!

  13. What sweet girls! I think my name is on the list of winners for the physique57 package. Will you be sending emails? Maybe its the wrong Angie M though ;). Thanks!

    • Fitnessista says:

i sent them out last night! sorry about that- should have mentioned in the post.
hope you have a great weekend!

  14. Oh my goodness, Liv in that pig costume… cannot get enough! Have a wonderful weekend, Gina! I was just at Tender Greens! Bummer we did not see each other. ;P

  15. Hey Gina!

Long time reader here! Congrats on baby P….She’s adorable. What size mocs did you get P? I’m currently 35 weeks preggo and want a pair for my lil lady. Thanks!

    • Fitnessista says:

thank you for reading for so long! i got her a size 2. they’re still way too big but i figured she wouldn’t be able to wear a 1 for very long.

  16. I got back into “pushing” myself on the treadmill this week. I was letting myself take it too easy the first couple of weeks back on it but I love the super sweaty feeling of hitting it hard! Good job on your OTF workout!

  17. Where’s the pic of the girls w/ Santa??? P’s little outfit couldn’t be more adorable! Oh wait, Liv in the piggy costume is giving her a run for the money tho. 😉

  18. Your girls are so beautiful!

  19. Julya Reynolds says:

Loving everything about this post! Especially seeing my name on the Physique 57 winners list (getting certified to teach barre in January!). Did I miss an email about winning that?
So jealous of you returning to working out! I’m just 3 weeks post-baby, and know I need to relax and take it easy on my body, but super antsy to get back to it. It’s hard when I feel so great! Happy Friday to you!

    • Fitnessista says:

i sent out all of the emails last night! check your email again- you’re the only julya i’ve seen 🙂
congrats to you on your baby, too! xoxo

  20. Great post! And I’m looking forward to being rekindled with OT once baby #2 comes!!!

I think my name was on the Physique 57 winner list (!!!!). Did you send an email about that? Thanks for all the amazing GiveAways!!!

    • I think my name is on that giveaway winner list, too! Checked for an email, but no word yet. (There are approximately 23479 Kates in the world, so it could be a fluke.) Keeping my fingers crossed!

    • Fitnessista says:

ahh it’s the best! i’m excited for you 🙂
yes, all winners were emailed last night! sorry, i should have posted that!

  21. I am SO Excited for Fuller House!!! I follow Candace Cameron aka DJ Tanner on Insta and she posted a photo in front of the new house which just made me even more pumped!

  22. Hi Gina! How do you handle child care for p or Liv in order to workout? I have a 10 week old and am really struggling to find a balance :/

    • Fitnessista says:

hey kelly! most of my workouts are when i’m teaching and tom is home from work. our gym also has AMAZING childcare. i don’t feel comfortable taking p yet, but she’ll go when she’s a little older and the reflux is under control. i’m a huge fan of nap time workouts and stroller walking for now. it’s definitely hard, especially when you have no energy left at the end of the day.

  23. OMG! I thought I was the only goofball that calls it “La Voz”! Actually I sing “Este es La Voz”! and I know I am probably translating horribly. I will raise my wine glass to a fellow silly gal! Have a great weekend.

  24. i love this post! so many great happy things.

its not quite the same as being rekindled, but i am pregnant and i have been a HUGE fan of the Ballet Beautiful workouts by Mary Helen Bowers (who trained Natalie Portman for Black Swan). She also trains all the Victorias Secret Angels. Anyhow, she has a Ballet Baby line of videos and I am SOO loving them! I think you’d love Ballet Beautiful if you haven’t tried it before, I remember from past years of reading your blog that you love dance and music. 🙂

    • Fitnessista says:

:)! yes! i have tried them and LOVE them. they don’t seem like they’d be hard, but the movements are killer. i think MHB is amazing, too. will definitely check out her ballet baby line too

  25. An OTF opened in my city this past summer and I was so excited to sign up because I’ve been reading your posts about it! I’m obsessed and in the best shape I’ve ever been since I started going.

  26. OTF is the BEST! I think I even got my step dad to join!:) yay… New hoodie for me 😉

  27. Jacqueline says:

I LOOOOOVE OTF! One opened in my city last summer and I tried it since I remembered reading a recommendation for it on your blog. Now I’m a member, got my BF to join, and the 5am classes have become our weekday dates. Yesterday he told me he secretly competes against me using the stats on the screen! Hahaha 🙂

    • Jacqueline says:

I’m a fifth grade teacher during the school year, but I’ve been thinking about applying to work there over the summer… the staff always seem to be having so much fun! I’m always impressed how they remember my name and genuinely seem to care.

  28. Gina, this Adele video has been cracking me up all weekend!
