Friday Faves

Hi friends! Happy Friday. 🙂 What are you up to this weekend? I’m excited to take some hot yoga, Livi has ballet, and we’ll be hanging out here enjoying the long weekend before the fam comes to visit next week.

Ballet

There will be lots of this on the menu: jammie snuggle time.

The girls

(best ever.)

In standard Friday fashion, here are some faves from the week and around the web! I always love to hear what you’re enjoying, too, so please feel free to shout it out in the comments section below.

The Post Baby Bod excitement!! Thank you so much to those of you who have pre-ordered. The last day to claim yours and get a free 4 weeks of meal ideas and recipes is MONDAY. I can’t wait to share this with you all, along with the full postbabybod.com site, which is being designed as we speak.

The Solly wrap. I was going to sell ours, since I found that it smashed P’s tummy and made her reflux worse, but many fellow reflux mamas encouraged me to wait it out. If it’s been a while since P’s last meal, she’s totally happy in there now. It’s perfect for cooking and cleaning around the house when she’s not chilling in her bouncer. (And I just saw via the website that they’re based here in San Diego!)

This wine. SO good. (More of my fave inexpensive red wines are here!)

Pointy ghillies. They take me back to my Irish dancing days. Watch out, I might bust into a slip jig at any moment.

(They’re from JustFab but similar versions are here, here and here.)

Chills all over.

21 people making the most out of this gift called life.

The joy and sadness of the last baby.

Return of the breakfast cookie! It was awesome having this for breakfasts this week.

Loved seeing many of my best blogging friends in this article.

What to know before your first yoga class.

Sushi date with my love. While madre was here, we had a date night. It was amazing to talk in full sentences together and enjoy some sushi at The Joint.

MYHABIT for the win. The Pilot was in need of some new jeans, so I snagged some Joe’s at an awesome price. It’s quickly become one of my favorite online spots to shop because they have great brands, and it’s linked to Amazon (you sign in via your Amazon acct and get fast shipping).

“If you feel like you’re in a black hole, don’t give up.”

Tweets that will hit you right in the parenting reals.

Our cousins got this for Liv… and the Pilot and I have been having way too much fun with it.

Basketball game

13 of Alan Rickman’s magnificent roles.

I love Chip and JoJo.

Here’s what happened when a school tried recess four times a day.

Hope you have a very happy Friday and a wonderful weekend!
xoxo

Oh date night! We had plans for tonight but due to unforseen circumstances will have to reschedule. Curious if P is back to gaining weight yet, I think the last post I read (prior to this one) was that you were going for a weight check this week:) Praying for a healthy happy gaining weight baby girl. The post babe bod is coming out at the perfect time (baby #3) is set to arrive in March/April and I will be in desperate need to get back in shape. While I do PRAY and HOPE we get to have more babies after this one – I love to get back into shape after each pregnancy!

Yay Jammie Snuggle time, what a precious picture :). We’re having sushi this Saturday, I’m getting excited! That article about recess- YES! I think we all (kids and adults) need more breaks to play during the day, but especially kids.

I’m thinking about purchasing a solly wrap for my little one due in April! I’ve heard lots of good stuff about them,, glad to hear your P is finally enjoying it!

The link i followed and read was the school recess one. Which ironically is a school that is only about 30 minutes from me. I had no idea this was happening. So cool. As a homeschooling mom with 3 young boys i feel like i really understand my boys need to move. So i love that this is happening. Happy weekend to you.

    • Fitnessista on January 16, 2016 at 1:12 pm

totally! liv’s school has recess 3x a day and PE every single day- it’s awesome
hope you have a happy weekend too!

I’m so glad you are loving the solly!! We loved it and our little guy (and fellow reflux sufferer) took every nap in it for months. It was totally a lifesaver.

Totally agree with the article about the need for more recess, and not just for the youngest ones. I grew up in Finland and we had a 15 min break outside after every 45 min class 1st through 12th grade (I didn’t attend preschool or kidergarten as they were not mandatory back then). And I don’t think we got jinxed on the academics at all. On the contrary, the American system seems like child torture to me, and I really hope schools in my area, too, will pick up on more recess by the time my 5-month-old daughter hits school age! There are studies that show children are in fact physically unable to sit still because their balance and core strength are so poor from lack of outdoor play.

    • Fitnessista on January 16, 2016 at 3:22 pm

i really hope so, too! your school sounds amazing. i remember being so bored when we had to sit for hours on end. i read an article stating kids are mistakenly diagnosed with ADHD and ADD because they are in fact unable to sit still for that long, and by forcing them to do so is unnatural. it was really interesting

      • Erja on January 16, 2016 at 3:31 pm

I think I read the same article. Makes total sense!

  15. Erin on January 16, 2016 at 3:16 pm

Hi Gina! After seeing your post about Cupcake wine (a fave of mine, too!) I wanted to share my new red obsession! It’s called 19 Crimes and they have a red blend and a Cab. So. Good. Im a red wine convert because of them! Plus they’re under $10!

    • Fitnessista on January 16, 2016 at 3:22 pm

ohh i will be on the lookout this week!
