Random Disney Roadtrip

Hi friends! How’s the morning going? Hope you’re having a great day so far. <3

The girls and I made a little roadtrip to Disneyland!

W the girls at disney

The Pilot was traveling for work this week, and I figured it would be fun to head up to Disney before it gets too hot. Liv has been wanting to go for a while, and she’s been an extra amazing helper since it’s just been the girls over here for a few weeks now. I packed up the car, we made a stop at Starbucks for scones and caffeine, and after some terrible San Diego traffic, we made it to the hotel!

A lady at Starbucks and the hotel valet both joked about how I was “crazy” to head to the park with two kids by myself, but whenever we go to Disneyland (or travel in general), it’s super low-key. We don’t have an agenda, and just enjoy being there and seeing the sights together. Any ride or show we see is considered a bonus. My strategy for this trip: wheel P around in the stroller, and then carry her in the Ergo during any lines or shows. It worked out really well.

On small world

Liv and I were super excited about taking P on Small World, but she wasn’t impressed. I thought for sure she would wake up and wonder where the heck we were, but nope. She peacefully snoozed through all 4,000 renditions of the song.

Snoozer

Our main priority: the sweets shop.

We want all the things

They sprinkle that Disney magic all over these rice crispy treats. A crispy treat just doesn’t taste the same anywhere else.

Always the crispy

The Pilot was doing some flying in LA for his license, so he was able to meet up with us when he was done for the day. The girls were so happy to see him, and P snoozed happily on him in the Ergo.

(Love that the little attachment can protect her head from the sun)

Miss P goes to bed early (just before 7pm), so we all headed to the hotel together. Liv and I grabbed our sweaters and ventured back to the park for more rides, and the Pilot stayed at the hotel with sleeping P so he could get some studying done. During past trips, Livi only preferred a small handful of rides, but was really about the characters, parade and shows. This time, she wanted to go on everything! We went on Dumbo, Small World, Peter Pan, Pirates of the Caribbean, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and the teacups. It was such a blast. We capped the evening off with the Electric Parade (which is seriously incredible), and she watched it sitting on my shoulders. It was a serious core workout haha.

It felt extra special because while I get a lot of time with both girls and with just P, time spent alone with Liv is more rare. I’ve been making an effort to plan dates with just the two of us, but even so, it’s usually a couple of hours here and there. This was definitely a trip that I’ll remember.

Liv and pluto

Some more things from the week:

-I have been LOVING kitchari for lunch. The trick is to stop eating it every day so I don’t get sick of it.

This is the book I’m currently reading, and shared some quotes on my Snapchat.

Sometimes personal development books are a snore; this is the exact opposite. It’s well-organized, fresh, and enjoyable to read. I highly recommend it.

Nordstrom half-yearly sale is heeeeeere! I’m so excited to check it out.

Hope you have a wonderful Thursday.

xoxo

The Mickey Rice Krispie Treat with M&M’s is my go to too! We’re headed to Disney World in July & I cannot wait to get my hands on one!

The trip looks like it was TONS of fun! Good for Liv and being more adventurous on the rides! And more power to her for riding those teacups. Just the thought throws my tummy into a spin!

On a much less exciting note, lately I have been kind of iffy on Starbucks. I read an article a few weeks ago ( I can’t even recall where I found it) about how since Starbucks outsources their coffee from different countries, the FDA can’t regulate the types of pesticides used on the beans and the amount of pesticides used. I have no idea how reputable the source was and if it’s even remotely true. But it definitely makes me a little uneasy. Have you read anything about this? I should obviously research it a little more, but I just decided I would take a break from SBux until I got the chance.

hmmm. it’s definitely something i’ve considered. it would be so amazing if they started serving organic and fair trade coffee. i prefer some of the local coffee shops around here, but usually what gets me is the DRIVE THRU. i can chug my coffee on the way home instead of having to take the kids out, juggle p with a hot cup of coffee + my purse, and go back to the car. the drive thru is so easy :/

Michelle- thank you for bringing this up! I need to do some more research on this for myself, but I would have never known about it!

What a fabulous little getaway you guys had! At 1st I was like, “Did I read that correctly? She took BOTH girls BY HERSELF???” 😀 It worked out great tho since the Pilot was in town & could meet up w/ you guys later & hang w/ P while you & Live were night owls. What a great idea! I was a single mom for many years & took my daughter on annual trips to Disney from the time she was in kindergarten. She’s 16 now & we are leaving for a mother/daughter trip to Italy in a couple weeks!! (I got a lot of good info from your trip when I was planning & have gone back & reread your posts several times.) <3

    • Fitnessista on May 26, 2016 at 1:00 pm

haha! yes, it worked out perfectly, especially since we didn’t have to keep p out way past her bedtime.
that is SO AMAZING you’re headed to italy. your daughter will love it so much, and such a great age to really enjoy everything that it is. where are you going?? i am so jealous right now haha. have an incredible time! eat all the pizza for meeeee

      • Julie on May 26, 2016 at 2:18 pm

We are going to Rome, Florence & Venice w/ a couple day trips from Florence (a hiking excursion thru the Cinque Terre & a wine/olive oil tour & cooking class at a villa in Tuscany). We are BEYOND excited! I will gladly eat all the pizza for you… & pasta & wine & gelato… 😛

How fun!! My husband and I are already talking about when we will be able to take our 4 mo. Old to Disney in a few years. Could you please share that awesome cover you have on the Ergo?! I am hoping to use my Ergo in Colorado in a month and definitely think I need this to protect the babe!!! Thank you!!

    • Fitnessista on May 26, 2016 at 12:59 pm

it’s attached to ours! which ergo do you have?

      • Michele on May 26, 2016 at 1:26 pm

I see! We have the 360. I haven’t taken it out of the box yet since I live in Ohio and it just warmed up!! I will have to see if ours has that feature.

Ahhh I love random Disney trips!! Do you guys have annual passes? We are thinking of getting them for us when we move to SD. I love the thought of hitting up Disney on a random day 😀 I sooo want one of those M&M mickey treats or some Pineapple whip 😀

I cant wait to take my daughter on little day trips to Disney. She is only 20 months and sooo girly and LOVES Disney. our tv stays on Disney jr all day. She will watch it here and there but has to have it on. She gets mad if we turn it or the tv shuts off.

There’s just something so special about Disney and Disney food. I just love it all!!
