I totally want to try some hair extensions! They look totally natural on you 🙂

  2. Pam on February 23, 2014 at 10:54 pm

Could you do a post on what the deal is with hair extensions? Why’d you get them? Are they magic? I’ve only ever had shoulder-length hair (can never stand it to grow out further) and curious what trying out longer is like on a temporary basis.

    • Fitnessista on February 23, 2014 at 11:04 pm

sure, maybe i’ll do a fashion post with them! they’re surprisingly easy to use and attach 🙂

      • Stephanie on February 24, 2014 at 9:19 am

I would love to see a post on the hair extensions! They look so natural! 🙂

      • Ali on February 24, 2014 at 10:22 am

I’d love to see a post on this as well. My hair breaks and thins as it gets longer so I would consider them for fullness more than anything (my hair grows really fast anyway). Did you do any cost comparisons? I’ve always wondering if they break the bank or if they are reasonable.

      • Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries on February 24, 2014 at 12:33 pm

I would love a post on hair extensions too! I’m trying to grow out my hair, and it’s taking foreverrrrr so it’s totally something I’d consider. Did you do them?! What is the care/upkeep with them? Cost? Would love all the details!

  3. Erin @ Girl Gone Veggie on February 23, 2014 at 10:59 pm

  4. Melodie on February 23, 2014 at 11:08 pm

  5. Michele on February 23, 2014 at 11:27 pm

    • Fitnessista on February 23, 2014 at 11:44 pm

  6. Jessica on February 24, 2014 at 12:17 am

Love your hair extensions! I am lucky to have naturally long & thick hair. Sometimes I feel like in wearing a mop on my head.

I like the addition of the short captions to your weekend pics post.

  19. Alex @ Kenzie Life on February 24, 2014 at 10:14 am

Have you ever seen Parks and Rec? One of the characters calls appetizers “apps” and desserts “zerts”. Every time I see appetizers I can’t help but thinks “apps and zerts” 🙂 I just ordered my first stitch fix but it won’t get here until mid-March. I’m so excited though!

  20. Amanda on February 24, 2014 at 12:23 pm

The extensions look fantastic, I’d never guess!

  21. Cassie Vaughn on February 24, 2014 at 12:34 pm

I love that saying! And your hair looks great!

  22. Krystal on February 24, 2014 at 12:42 pm

hahaha! The other day I was reading your blog, and you must have posted a picture. I saw wow, her hair grows fast!

  23. Kathy on February 24, 2014 at 1:07 pm

For those having trouble growing out hair without it breaking off: since I gave up shampoo started using Wen, my hair is STRONG, shiny and grows like a weed! And my highlights stay bright, no fading. It does have a learning curve and I hated it until I learned what I was doing wrong. (There is a number to call on the bottle and their customer service is exceptional.)

I know, those infomercials seem hard to believe. But it works. And I happened to hear yesterday that there is a crazy sale on it on QVC (shows on it all day) & qvc.com on March 15th.

Gina, can’t wait for the extensions post – are those temporary (can be in or out any given day) or permanent (until professionally removed)?

I didn’t post but LOVED WSU too 🙂

    • Fitnessista on February 24, 2014 at 1:15 pm

they’re temporary! i’ll do a video with how to put them in and everything 🙂
for the wen, what do you recommend?? i looked it (am going to wait til march 15) but am really excited they don’t test on animals

      • Kathy on February 24, 2014 at 1:31 pm

Bamboo Green Tea cleansing conditioner is my very favorite! The scent is wonderful and it rinses easier than some of the others to me.

That is one of the keys to Wen – you have to work it in (after adding a little splash of water to get it going) and really RINSE it out since there are no detergents or harsh lathering agents in it. And you have to use enough – more than you would of any shampoo. Rinse it until you feel like it is out and then rinse 20-30 seconds more!

And I use it now as my face cleanser too – since it has skin care ingredients – and my face has never been softer or more clear!

Don’t be afraid to call them if you need help – if not used right, your hair will feel heavy and dirty.

      • Kathy on February 24, 2014 at 1:34 pm

Also, if you record one of the shows on QVC on March 15th to listen to while cooking or cleaning – you will learn a lot about what to do. I was given that tip by someone and it really helped a lot.

        • Fitnessista on February 24, 2014 at 1:38 pm

i will do that!! thank you so much for the tips 🙂 excited to try it!

          • Kathy on February 24, 2014 at 1:58 pm

Cool! It will be fun to know what you think. But remember: learning curve and call them if needed!!

          • Fitnessista on February 24, 2014 at 4:59 pm

            will do! xo

  24. Shayla on February 24, 2014 at 7:46 pm

LOVE the extensions!! What brand are they? And like the others have said, please please do a video! I would love to try them as my hair is still pretty thin from the hair loss I experienced postpartum – it’s only been 9 months but it’s still so frustrating :/

  25. Lauren on February 24, 2014 at 10:52 pm

Gina! I’ve been following your blog for awhile and I was wondering when you’d finally stop by Savaya at La Encantada. I was a barista at both locations before I moved to NY in September. I had an incredible time working for them and I learned more about coffee than I ever thought I would know – I definitely miss them now that I’m on the east coast. I’m so curious, you found their coffee sour? Was it espresso or drip coffee? Because I know with inexperienced baristas, an espresso can get sour quickly.

Nonetheless I was happy to see my old familiar coffee shop! I spent many mornings there and I miss seeing the sun rise in that beautiful shop.

    • Fitnessista on February 24, 2014 at 11:03 pm

it’s a beautiful space! i was excited to try it but made the rookie move of getting an almond milk chai, hot. it was terrible. i’ll go back and try the coffee, as it seems to be their specialty 🙂

  26. Livi on February 25, 2014 at 8:54 am

    your hair looks amazing!!

  27. Erin on February 25, 2014 at 12:41 pm

It makes me sad that you’re not satisfied with your natural self! You really don’t need the plastic surgery, hair extensions, eyelash extensions etc. It’s also concerning as a mother to a young girl to be able to teach by example that you ARE beautiful and don’t need the extra stuff. How will you respond when Livi comes home from middle school embarrassed about something from her physical experience? Say “don’t worry you can get that fixed?” I understand that some pampering can help build confidence and be fun but I would love to see you be confident in the body you were born with 🙂

    • Fitnessista on February 25, 2014 at 1:19 pm

      this was your last comment:

Those look great! I’ve never done them semi-permanent but I LOVE wearing fake eyelashes for special occasions. I would have expected it to be way more expensive.

I’m currently considering splurging and getting a nose job. It’s something I’m very self conscious about but it is a lot of money. I’m also worried about the anti-feminist stigma of getting plastic surgery. What’s your view on plastic surgery? It’s hard to balance fun beauty stuff and being a good role model. Just gotta work on my confidence!

      • Erin on February 25, 2014 at 3:55 pm

Yes. I personally think frequently about self confidence and plastic surgery / upgrades. I think they’re fun but rather anti-feminist and have a hard time debating between the two in my life. Am I not allowed to comment on this? I am sorry I have not commented more frequently on your blog, if that is what you are referring to. I’m sorry – I am confused by your response.

      • Erin on February 26, 2014 at 12:04 pm

I apologize if my question offended you. I really meant it as a compliment.
