5/10: Friday Faves

-Dancing with some of my favorite girls last night! It was our recital for dance week at work (some past dance week posts + video are here and here), and I choreographed two pieces for the occasion: one for the fitness staff and the other was for another department (where Meg works!). I also performed in a bellydance, and while it’s not my forte, I loooooove the sparkly costumes 😉

-A new Mexican spot in town, called Calle Tepa and is under the same ownership as Guadalajara Grill. While the menu offerings are similar to G Grill, it offers a more casual street feel with fresh, homemade tortillas, tacos, rice, beans, a salsa and chip bar,and killer margaritas.

Manchego

(Manchego quesadillas with chicken, rice and beans)

Tomas

(“Hey girl, let me get you some chips to go with that ‘rita”)

To experience the full effect, we ordered sopapillas for the table (a soft, fluffy bread drizzled with honey, sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon)

Livi gave the horchata two guacamole-covered thumbs up.

While I love the variety of Mexican food in Tucson -ok, I love all the food in Tucson- it’s fun that there are so many different types: the more family-friendly spots we love (Blanco, La Parrrilla, Poco & Moms, and Guadalajara Grill), the street stops (like Guero Canelo) and the fancier date night spots (like Poca Cosa). Downtown and on the southwest side, we have a lot of incredible Mexican restaurants, but construction right now is atrocious so we’ve stayed away from the area — you try to leave and everything is blocked. Anyway, today we were downtown for the wedding rehearsal and had an amazing lunch at El Charro.

(Salad with a vinaigrette I’ll be replicating ASAP, creamy chicken, rice, beans)

-Speaking of rehearsal, it was so beautiful. I got to see the venue for the wedding -I’ve never been before!- and everything is going to be absolutely dreamy.

Livi got to walk around and explore with her nanas  while we went over the details for tomorrow.

Trevor gave a speech at lunch at the dinosaur tears were thisclose. I have no hope for tomorrow.

Hope you’re enjoying the weekend so far <3

OMG! I have been following you for a while and I love your tips and posts. I had no idea you live in Tucson. Now I am giddy because I do too! My husband is a former F18 Pilot, Navy. But we live here now and socialize on a Air Force base. LOl
I am not going to be bloggy celebrity star struck but I admit it. I am!!! I am a blogger too. I have a craft competition blog but fitness is my other passion. I am currently training for my first fitness competition and getting barre certified. I think we should hang out. Just sayin’! The hubby’s could talk pilot stuff.
    Wow, I am so excited!!!

beautiful- can’t wait to see wedding shots!
just a heads up- your top banner ad is displaced downward and covering up most of your post title, even before mousing over it (which expands the ad). I’m using Google Chrome, so maybe it’s looks different, but I’ve never noticed that before. I just thought you’d want to know that your ad is misbehaving! 🙂

If one of my kids gets married on Mother’s Day weekend, I’ll never forgive them. That’s torture for a mama! Haha JK. I think it would a little bittersweet though.

I went to a wedding there in November! What a gorgeous old house. Seems like it would be a great venue for Meg. Is she walking down the stairs as her entrance? This bride did and it was beautiful.

    O. M. G. A baby in a wrap dress. I die. Seriously. Cutest thing EVER. I seriously can’t get over it. Looks like you have such a lovely weekend ahead!! Thos food pics make me want more Mexican food. I’ve been on a crazy kick lately, especially making homemade salsa.
