A cute little schnoodle

Hi friends! Happy Saturday <3 Hope you’re having a great weekend so far!

[Flowers from the Pilot! Le swoon]

I was thisclose to calling in sick today. I feel like sadness and death had a baby (ok, I’m being really dramatic, but don’t feel any better than yesterday), but figured I’d soldier through and then spend the rest of the weekend chillin’. Good thing I didn’t call in- two other girls are out today and everyone’s schedules have been cray cray.

Bella’s friend update:

We talked about potentially getting a friend for Bell when we moved into the casa, since she was having a hard time adjusting to the new, foreign, and larger surroundings. I think she thought we were going to pack up and move again (at the time, there were still boxes everywhere), and was probably confused. I’m proud of her, though, because she really is such an adaptable dog. She’s lived in 2 Tucson apartments with me, moved with us to Fayetteville, NC, then to Valdosta, Orlando and back to Tucson. And she’s been a champ through it all. She’s finally 100% back to her normal, spunky, snuggly self.

The Pilot and I agreed that since Bella has adjusted, it might be a good idea to start looking for a friend for her to have when the baby arrives. We’d like to adopt a rescue dog who is older, already house-trained (there’s no way I’m training a puppy right now), and loves small dogs and kids.

I’ve already started looking around….

A schnauzer poodle! = A SCHNOODLE 😀

The Pilot said he refuses to have a dog breed named schnoodle, but of course we’re letting Bella decide. 😉

It’s Zumba time over here, then a fun date night with that one guy I love 🙂 See ya later tonight!
xoxo

Schnoodles are the best dogs ever! We have a rescue Schnoodle, we’ve had him for over 2 years. You must adopt one! My husband who is in the Marines LOVES his little Schnoodle!

  2. Rachel on September 10, 2011 at 4:12 pm

Best name for a breed ever. Schnoooooooodle. Kinda makes you want to put oooodle after everything. Pizzoooooooodle. LOL! Good luck to Bella and Happy Date Night 🙂

    • Rachel on September 10, 2011 at 4:13 pm

And yay for rescue dogs/pets! Life really began when I found my two rescue cats.

Awww a schnoodle sounds sooooo cute!! Awesome that you’re getting a rescue dog. There are so many that need a good home!

  4. Erin on September 10, 2011 at 4:18 pm

Wow little Bella has been a trooper through all that. I hope my baby boy (golden retreiver) does well with the army life ahead of us.

  5. april on September 10, 2011 at 4:22 pm

Gina – don’t spread yourself too thin. It’s okay if Bella is a little jealous of the bay bay. Even though you love Bella like a child, when you have your baby you will realize nothing comes above that little human.

  6. Ida on September 10, 2011 at 4:29 pm

That schnoodle is adorable! But I do think you should wait until after your baby comes and then how Bella is doing and if you really want a 2nd dog.

  7. KindraC on September 10, 2011 at 4:32 pm

We have a schnoodle too! We have had him for 5 years, since he was a pup, and he is the love of my life…aside from my hobby and the baby in my tummy 😉 Seriously though, yet are great dogs and if Bella loves him then I say go for it! Plus schnoodle is just fun to say 🙂

    • KindraC on September 10, 2011 at 4:33 pm

      *Hubby, not hobby!

  8. Amanda on September 10, 2011 at 4:41 pm

I work at a vet clinic and my boss has two schnoodles and they are GREAT dogs!! 🙂

  9. Lauren on September 10, 2011 at 4:49 pm

I’m gonna say it again….Cavalier King Charles Spaniels!! Best dogs ever 😀 The second one rolls over for a belly rub, it will have you and the pilot wanting to take him/her home immediately. There are 2 great rescue organizations: Cavalier Rescue USA and Lucky Star Cavalier rescue. But schnoodles are pretty cute too!

  10. Jenn on September 10, 2011 at 4:54 pm

Love Schnoodle, too funny! I used to/still kinda do want to name our next dog, Noodle. Heehee.

  11. Kelly on September 10, 2011 at 4:54 pm

Not to start something here, but guys…Gina didn’t ask for anyone’s opinion on whether or not they should adopt a new dog before the baby comes. I’m sure she and the pilot have put a lot of thought into this decision and they know what will work best for their family. Hope you feel better soon Gina!

    • april on September 11, 2011 at 7:01 am

actually she did a while ago 🙂

  12. Madeline (Food Fitness & Family) on September 10, 2011 at 5:11 pm

I think another dog would be great for the whole family! 🙂 A schnoodle sounds like so much fun 🙂

Our puggle has moved with us multiple times too (being military) and he always takes a little while to adjust to a new place because he gets confused and nervous about the boxes. I am glad Bella is back to her happy self 🙂 It’s always so hard as a mom of furbabies to see them distressed 🙁

We have two dogs now and I am glad they have each other when our baby comes (5 weeks to go). I am hoping it helps with the transition knowing that they have a ‘buddy’.

  13. Paola on September 10, 2011 at 5:22 pm

🙂 I literally rescued one of my dogs after she was abandoned in park (she had been there for three days when I picked her up, some people living nearby said. She was so weak, traumatized and dehydrated she could barely stand on her feet at that point!), and after 12 years, when the previous house dog died and we decided she needed a new friend because she was really sad without her housemate, we went to look for one at a rescue shelter. Of course we let her do the choosing: and she picked a lovely dog, twice as big as her but quiet and sweet, to be our new friend. He too was 12 at the time, and had recently lost his owner who had to enter a nursing home. Now we have two wonderful, sweet, happy old dog… so yay! for going for a shelter dog, and double yay! for letting Bella have her word (bark?) in the matter!

So happy to hear that Bella is doing better with her new surroundings. That’s great and what a little trooper she is!

Sorry to hear that you’re sick though…ugh! Hope you’re feeling better soon! 🙂

haha a schnoodle is ALMOST as good as a golden doodle!

I hope you feel better soon! LOVE the David Guetta/Usher song. The entire cd (Titanium is my fave) has become my go-to for workouts. 🙂

  20. Angie on September 10, 2011 at 6:35 pm

I have a schnoooooooooooooodle and i love her!!!! BEST dog EVER. She’s great!! She looks like that pic but chocolate colored 🙂 She’s SUPER friendly, GREAT with kids, quiet, only barks (well growls, really) when an intruder comes near/into the house… house trained so easily (but i guess you wouldn’t need to worry about that!), learned tricks SUPER fast (sit, speak, “bang!” —>play dead, roll over) in a matter of a day or two at a time… all around a great dog!!!

to the person who said they have king charles cavaliers…. my mother in law has 2… i’d rather give away all my designer bags/watches than EVER have one of them!!! that’s my two cents LOL

    hope you feel better!!!

  21. Canada Kelly on September 10, 2011 at 6:42 pm

My brother has a schnauzer and he’s adorable! I’ve never heard of a schnoodle.. but that’s pretty damn cute.
Your hubby sure did buy you some beautiful “get well soon” flowers 🙂
    The shake looks delish!
Get a good sleep tonight and I hope you’re better tomorrow.

  22. Steph on September 10, 2011 at 6:51 pm

I also have a schnoodle!! I have a 16-month old son, and I have to say that having the dog and baby together totally stresses me out. Once we had our son, our time and attention for the dog was about zero. It’s finally starting to get better, but oh man, I didn’t realize having a baby takes up every single second of the day. So I personally wuldn’t get another dog right before having a baby. (just my opinion).

But overall, I would recommend the schnoodle breed. They are great dogs, however, each one is different. Ours does bark a lot because he is quite territorial. He has also snapped at and bitten a few people. But on the positive, schnoodles don’t shed, so they don’t cause allergies for people like me who are allergic to most dogs. Their coats are very hard to maintain, though, and require frequent washing and brushing and trimming. Ours was potty-trained in 2 days. Schnoodles are pretty smart.

Great breed, but not necessarily right before having a baby. Good luck with the decision!

  23. D on September 10, 2011 at 6:54 pm

My parents have a schnoodle, Gina. She was about 5 when they found her at the Humane Society. She is a GREAT dog (keep in mind, I didn’t used to care for dogs). I adore the heck out of the little girl. She is very mellow, loves to play ball, great around all types of people, hardly sheds & is just beyond cute.

  24. Kathryn @ Flopoodle on September 10, 2011 at 6:59 pm

A schnoodle is better than a golden poo! haha…I think most ppl call those golden doodles.

  25. Gina B on September 10, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Oh my! All of the doodle mix names are absurd! Try saying cockapoo in public when asked about your dog! I finally started saying, “a poodle and cocker spaniel mix” then the person would ask. “Oh, what are those called?” Fail! Lol

  26. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on September 10, 2011 at 7:12 pm

    Aww schnoodles are so cute!

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well! I’m not feeling so hot today either… although it’s for entirely different, alcohol-related reasons. 😛 Hope you feel better for your date night!

  27. Marie on September 10, 2011 at 7:28 pm

If you do decide to get a dog I can highly recommend a schnoodle. I have one and she is the best dog we have ever owned. As previous ppl said- very smart, not aggressive, does not shed, not a huge barker- an all around loveable and enjoyable dog. Hope that whatever you decide works out well.

  28. Lauren on September 10, 2011 at 7:33 pm

we have a pure bread schnauzer, and she’s the best dog ever. she has a great personality and is such a little love bug. i’m in no position to get a dog of my own right now, but when i can, i either want another schnauzer or a schnorkie (schnauzer yorkie mix. they are SO CUTE).

  29. chickster on September 10, 2011 at 7:37 pm

Rescue dogs are the best no matter their breed or name! We’ve got a doberman/rottweiler mix and he’s been an angel with our cat and everyone else. It’s great to save those from the “take home TODAY” signs, and I wish you the best picking a good mate for Bella. Plus I think it’s a little bit easier to transition (when it comes to the fur children) when moving abroad or anywhere else, because the animals have each other to calm themselves down. Our cat is more high maintenance than the dog, but I still think his calmness eases her nerves a bit.

  30. Angela @ Momethis on September 10, 2011 at 8:47 pm

    I’m craving kale now. 🙂
The pup is so cute. We have a Shorkie and a Snorkie.

  33. Clare on September 10, 2011 at 9:59 pm

Schnoodle! I love it! I have two little schnauzer mixes that we rescued! They just had their 10th birthday. They have been the greatest dogs! Such a great temperament, so much fun, and just the right amount of energy.

  34. Gina @ Running to the Kitchen on September 10, 2011 at 10:01 pm

Schnoodle is a pretty fun name. I can’t imagine having 2 dogs, 1 is by far enough for me but with a name like that it’s kinda hard to pass up!

  35. Lara on September 10, 2011 at 10:05 pm

We think our dog is a schnoodle (he is a rescue and we aren’t really sure what he is but that’s our best guess!). He is wonderful with our other two dogs and I’m somewhat ridiculously attached to him haha I hope it works out!

  36. Ali @ urbanfruitbat on September 10, 2011 at 10:27 pm

Oh My Goodness! That puppy is the cutest ever! (besides Bella of course) I just don’t believe that you will be able to pick just one little puppy to bring home…

  37. Danielle on September 10, 2011 at 10:29 pm

I’m so excited that you’re looking to get a rescue dog!! I’m fostering a rescued chihuahua right now and it just breaks my heart that some people treat their animals so terribly.
All of the rescue dogs with the rescue group I work with are such sweeties, so I’m sure you’ll find a great friend for Bella! 🙂

  39. Krystina (Organically Me) on September 10, 2011 at 10:53 pm

Just wondering – what would possess you to get another dog when you’ll have a newborn baby around? Do you want to kill yourself? 😛

  40. Meghan on September 10, 2011 at 11:02 pm

The Schnoodle is precious 🙂 I hope Bella approves 😉

  41. Heather (Strong Smart Healthy) on September 10, 2011 at 11:18 pm

Woo Hoo for the two dog club. Ours are best friends and the older one used to be so depressed and acted like an old dog (at 2!) before her bouncy little sister came to us.

2 new family members – awesome!

  42. Lara on September 11, 2011 at 12:03 am

Hey sweetie! That pup is SO cute! Just a little bit of experience, I’m not trying to be discouraging, but I thought I’d tell you about our experience with getting a buddy for Lulu. We also wanted an older rescue pup, so we got Pippa, who is a year old. I thought it would be an easy addition to the family, since she was “potty trained” and not a puppy. It turns out that she is actually more work than raising Lulu from puppy age! Some rescue dogs have a ton of issues from their painful past, and Pippa is one of them. I 100% support the idea of getting another pup and having it be a rescue, but I would advise you to get to know her/him before you take them home, because it might not be an easy addition.
Alright, that’s my ramble. So excited for the lovely new changes coming to your life!

  43. Lara on September 11, 2011 at 12:04 am

Ok just read some of the comments about the second pup. I’m NOT trying to tell you whether or not to get a second pup! I just wanted to share my experience about adopting another pup and how it can be difficult, even if they are not a puppy. That’s it. Totally not trying to influence what you do!

  44. OntarioGirl on September 11, 2011 at 7:22 am

We have a schnoodle and he’s the best!! They’re so friendly, playful, great with kids and they don’t shed! My husband still makes fun of him (since they’re kinda small and have a not so manly-ish name hehe) but I know deep down he loves him 😉

  45. Morgan Jones on September 11, 2011 at 9:04 am

    Hello 🙂

I had to share my fitnessista inspired oats with you. I am not sure if you have ever tried this combo, but it was delish.

    Peaches n’ Cream Oats!
    oats of choice
    1/2 diced peach
    cinnamon to taste
    splash of vanilla
    1 scoop vanilla sun warrior
    almond milk
    Sweetner of choice 😀

Cooks oats and add peaches when oats are about half way done. Add other ingredients as you normally would when making fun oat combos 🙂

If you have not already tried this combo, I think you would really enjoy it!

Thank you for all ofyour inspiration, I have been reading your fun fitness tips for about a year now!

One last thing, reader request: Tips on getting your significant other 😉 to eat healthier.. and like it! I would love to hear your opinion on this topic.

Thank you so much, I hope you enjoyed your vacation.

How cute! Our 2nd puppy was a shih-tzu/bichon mix and somehow that is called a teddy bear? Maybe it’s better than “shih-bich.” In my experience having two is way easier than one – especially with our full shih-tzu. He’s so needy. Getting the second one was great- they play all of the time, keep each other entertained… and the best part is not feeling so guilty when you leave them alone for a few hours. When my husband and I come home EVERY toy is out so they obviously had a good time and didn’t wait by the door looking pathetic. A new addition may take some pressure off you!

  47. Amelia on September 11, 2011 at 3:39 pm

Oh my, I have never heard of a schnoodle before. I showed my husband Kevin the picture and his reply was, “tell the Pilot somebody has to love the schnoodle”. 😉

Good luck on the doggie hunt. We are in the market right now for two dogs. We want one to be a puppy (mainly me) and the other we want to be a rescue (one large dog and one tiny dog). We shall see!

  48. Alicia F. on September 11, 2011 at 6:15 pm

How sweet! We are super nervous about moving our furbabies to our new home in Oct. I’m worried that our pup will get super lonely leaving my parents house since she’s gotten so attached to my little sis. Hoping the transition goes well. Hope Bella finds her bestie! 🙂

I have a schnoodle! He’s black/grey and the cutest puppy there ever was. I don’t call him a schnoodle though, because I don’t like that word either, so I just call him a schnauzer/poodle mix. He’s a great dog and very smart! Good luck on your perfect dog hunt!

I’m afraid I agree with Lara. From my on experiences, I found it really hard with two dogs and a brand new baby, sorry to be a grump! x
