All Things That Are Good

Hey everyone! Happy Sunday! Hope you’re having a relaxing day 😀 We have dubbed today winter cleaning 2009- so the pilot and I are going to do some mayjah reorganization up in herrrre. Who’s stoked?!? Me! ME! The pilot? Not so much 😉

Yesterday was pretty much glorious… it was filled with all things that are good

New food creations

bfast

Egg whites scrambled with a serving of salmon bites, cayenne, sea salt and wilted spinach

salmon

And a new bready love, MILLET BREAD (so dense, so chewy) topped with Earth Balance, cinnamon and maca – I had two pieces because it was just so good 😀

bready love

Surprises from bloggy friends

By a stroke of almond butter magic, I won this homemade chipotle almond butter from Heaby last week.

Needless to say, I was salivating while I opened it…

she wrapped it up so cute, too!

gifty1

Thank you Heaby!!! Love you <3

Guess we all know what I’m having for bfast today 😉

CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!

chocolate

Vegan, and GINGER INFUSED dark chocolate. In other words, a one-way ticket to foodgasm city 😀

INDIAN FOOD!!!!

I finally got my Indian food fix!

(pictures were taken via crackberry—I forgot my camera at home!)

I was craving lentils, so I rolled with this spicy Dal dish

The obligatory roti, for dipping and scooping purposes 😉

Bite o’ tandoori salmon

Movies, Bizzle and Targizzle

We went and saw Brothers with Jeni and her pilot after our Indian feast. Word to the wise: wait until it comes out on DVD, if you watch it at all. It was AWKWARD and uncomfortable— a little on the painful side to watch. And being a military wife, some parts messed with me a little. I give it two almond butter covered thumbs down.

After the disaster of a movie, we all went to Targizzle to buy random things look around. Next, Bizzle…

No pic (taking a pic with a crackerry and a drink in hand is difficult!), but I had a short soy hot chocolate. You guys know I’m not a huge soy fan, but I will drink soy over cow’s milk –Bizzle, get some almond milk!!!- and it was pretty tasty wasty 😉

The only thing missing from my day of goodness?

Exercise!

Yup, I took a day off yesterday. It felt so good and today I’m refreshed and ready to take Jackie O on a test run.

jackieo

Yes, I named the new iPizzle Jackie O. She’s sleek and classy like her namesake 😀

Off to clean, with a yoga and running break somewhere in there! Also need to catch up on my mountain of emails. If I haven’t gotten back to you yet, I haven’t forgotten about you—just making sure I give every email the attention it deserves 🙂

See ya tonight!

xoxo,

Gina

Today’s tip:Need a gift idea for your favorite Foodie?!? Check out these Tees!!!!! How stinkin’ cute are they?? I have my eyes on the eggplant one (madre, are you there?? Hahah)

Keep your eyes open for a couple seriously awesome giveaways this week!

Brothers looked so good! Why was it awkward??

Looks like you had a great day… good food, gifts and a day of rest!

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2009 at 10:06 am

i’m not sure if it was the writing but it was awkward to watch… as in, not believable and weird pauses all over the place

  2. hemp jogger on December 6, 2009 at 10:14 am

what a great name! oddly enough, my bff and i did a school project on jackie o waaaayyy back in middle school, and throughout the rest of our lives, we were obsessed! yea, probably annoying to others, and maybe a bit odd, but the woman had it GOIN ON. lol, the fact you named your ipod that gave me a smile this morning, remember how ridic we were…in a good way 🙂

  3. katie on December 6, 2009 at 10:38 am

I was so excited to see brothers…so sad to know it wasn’t great. What about it was awkward?

I was randomly reading some old posts and I saw that you mentioned a foam roller. Would you please tell me more about this? How used? What are the benefits? Thank you. I just added your blog on my bookmark list.

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2009 at 11:23 am

foam rolling helps to loosen tight muscles and it excellent for athletes and runners. by using your own body weight, it gives the same benefits as a massage– i use it for my quads and it band

I LOVE me some Jake G but being a military wife with a husband who has PTSD, I can’t even watch the damn trailer for that movie; it messes with me badly. I won’t even be renting it!

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2009 at 11:21 am

yes, i wouldn’t recommend it to you at all. so sorry to hear about that… love and thanks to you and your husband for serving our country

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2009 at 11:20 am

  11. Anna on December 6, 2009 at 11:25 am

I’m with you on the almond milk – Starbucks, please see that there are other (better!) milk substitutes out there!

Thanks for the movie review. Now I can save my ticket money for more things that I don’t need from Target.

  12. Allie on December 6, 2009 at 11:33 am

the baristas at my local starbies were talking about how they like almond milk sooo much more (they are really cool- they are the only starbucks that puts soy ON the bar; the others make you ask). anyway, they said almond milk was very costly…

too bad about that movie- i really wanted to see it.

  13. Erica on December 6, 2009 at 11:47 am

Sundays are such catch up days! I am cleaning, baking, changing choreography, maybe going for a run or walk? Ah! Love your new iPod- super cute. I’m waiting for mine to cash out but will probably be getting a new one soon too. The winnings from HEAB look so good- I’m totally jealous 😉 Good luck with the cleaning.

  14. Emily Eats on December 6, 2009 at 12:13 pm

Yes yes yes to the Starbucks request! I only ever get black or espresso there these days ~ so sad. I don’t eat dairy & have a soy allergy :/

  16. Mama Pea on December 6, 2009 at 12:30 pm

If Starbucks had almond milk, my wallet would be in serious trouble. They would probably charge double for it too.

I’m sorry the movie was awful! I just hate that. Maybe you should have seen New Moon again 🙂

  17. Sana on December 6, 2009 at 1:10 pm

Maybe you can bring your own milk? lol I don’t think that would fly at all, but you could try…..

  18. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is on December 6, 2009 at 1:10 pm

I was looking forward to that movie, too. That’s a shame!

Hi! I’m a new reader of your blog..I think i saw it in FITNESS magazine. you are so funny! I look forward to reading your posts!! do you have any tips for a sugar-addict during the Holidays?? Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2009 at 2:34 pm

was it in fitness magazine?? i had no idea, haha 😀
as a former sugar addict, the thing that worked best for me was to make healthier versions of a few things (whole wheat flour, sucanat) for myself to snack on and then i’d have a few of the “special” treats you can only get once a year. if it comes out of a box, so not worth it! if it’s homemade, treat yourself.. it’s the holidays 😀

  25. Marissa on December 6, 2009 at 2:48 pm

That AB sounds AMMMAAAZZINNNGG!!! Lucky you 🙂

  26. Lee on December 6, 2009 at 3:20 pm

  27. Heather McD (Heather Eats Almond Butter) on December 6, 2009 at 3:56 pm

My gosh, that roti looks good. So puffy. 🙂

Loving the EB, cinnamon, maca combo. Just ate pancakes. Should have used that topping combo.

Yay – so happy your chipotle AB arrived safe and sound. I was so scared it would leak. Enjoy!

  28. Jessica on December 6, 2009 at 4:22 pm

Good to know about Brothers–i had been wanting to see it lately, but maybe not anymore! i mean, you gave it two ALMOND BUTTER thumbs down, after all! 😉

And yum. I’ve got to try maca! And i’ve got to try that earth balance, cinn & maca combo with toast sooooon!

  29. Jenna on December 6, 2009 at 5:27 pm

  30. Karla on December 6, 2009 at 5:33 pm

  31. eatingrd on December 6, 2009 at 5:35 pm

Hope you have a good cleaning day! I need to get on that myself. mmm that Indian food looks wonderful. Do you use anything to keep the earphones from falling out of your ears? I need to find something because mine always fall out!
    Those shirts are too cute!

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2009 at 6:49 pm

when it’s cold, i wear a headband around my ears and it keeps them in. in the summer, they always fall out for me too as soon as i start sweating

  32. Dori on December 6, 2009 at 5:41 pm

I would spend so much more money at Starbucks if they got almond milk. I really wish they would!

  35. Jaci on December 6, 2009 at 6:21 pm

Pleeeease tell me where you found that millet bread! I have celiac disease and a lot of G-Free bread is BAD. I just did a little search while grocery shopping and no dice…thanks!!

    • Fitnessista on December 6, 2009 at 6:48 pm

  37. CaSaundra on December 6, 2009 at 8:22 pm

I love egg and salmon paired together–except I always have to top mine off with ketchup 🙂 Actually, a lot of things I eat need to be topped with ketchup haha!! And as far as that movie goes, it did look a bit too harsh for my liking. Glad your having a good weekend!

  38. bobbi on December 6, 2009 at 11:55 pm

i love that you named your iPod you are too cute!

  39. Karen on December 8, 2009 at 1:13 am

Love roti. The version I usually eat has a hearty curried meat stew to go with it. The stew could be anything from chicken to goat. It’s a simple way to experiment with Indian cuisine.
