Heyyyy 😀 How’s your Sunday going? Hope you’re having a lovely, relaxing day <3

Yesterday was kind of a standard Saturday over here.

It’s the Pilot’s down day, since he’s so crazy busy during the week, so he goes out for brother’s breakfast with my two brothers and then they play video games and watch football all day. Saturday is my craziest day of teaching, so I’m gone, except for lunch break if I can sneak home and blog in between classes. When I get home, I shower, curl up on the couch with Bell

and the Pilot will either join in on the Project Runway catch-up and snooze, or he’ll do stuff around the house while I unwind.

Yesterday he installed blinds in our front entryway- they look awesome. [I cropped out his booty from the pic. You can’t see that, haha]

We were going to go over to the madre’s to watch the football game, so I sent my brother a text to see who was over there and he said “we were going to come over to your house. Is that ok?” Um, yes.

When we moved here, we really wanted our house to become one of the family *hubs* so that family and friends would just come over and chill whenever- it’s kind of fun that it’s already happening 🙂

and since I hadn’t had dinner yet, I heated up a GF Amy’s burrito, topped it with salsa, goat cheese and arugula.

As much fun it was to see the Wildcats get smacked by the Ducks (womp womp), the best part was going through old photos my nana brought over. My bro and the Pilot were cracking up.. mostly to my expense, but I was laughing too. You see, most people go through an awkward phase in their life that lasts 2-3 years. Mine lasted about 10.

This morning, I was really excited to have my first bowl of pumpkin oats this season, since the Libby’s fairy paid a visit to Target.

-1/2 C GF oats

-1/2 pack of Jay Robb’s egg white protein

-1/2 C pumpkin

-almond milk

-Stevia, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom and ginger

-blob of almond butter

It was everything I’d been hoping for 🙂

Something to do: Friendly reminder to plan our your meals and eats for the week, if you’d like. It really does make things so much easier to have an idea of what your fuel and exercise schedule will be, even if you need to change it up a little as the week goes on.     I saw pumpkin at the store today too, and had to restrain myself from grabbing up the whole counter full! lol

    I’ve taken the weekly meal planning to the next step, since my new job has me working 12 hour shifts and it would suck for Boyfriend to come home from his 12 hour shifts and then have to cook dinner (I’m 8a-8p and he’s 6a-6p). I plan meals, and make big batches of everything on my “Sunday” so that for the next 3 nights neither of us has to cook! I make 2 options, so that we don’t burn out on eating the same thing over and it has really helped a lot and made life easier! 🙂 This week is turkey chili and soft tacos!

    I love relaxing days of football! That is what saturdays are for us! Hopefully we will be closer to our families down the road and we can have a place where everyone can com over and visit. Have a great Sunday!

    For a minute there I thought that was a picture of your pantry, and then I realized it was the store shelves. Thank goodness, because I love pumpkin too, but THAT much pumpkin can surely make a person turn orange, lol.

    I’ve been reading your blog for the past few months (secretly in the RSS feed!) and have been really inspired by your daily meals etc. I just set myself a challenge to try and eat 9 servings of fruit and veg every day (documented in my blog, to try and keep me accountable!). Managed three days of it so far, even when eating out 😀 I am certain I could never have done this before, without you and other bloggers showing their day-to-day food choices! I always thought home-cooking meant three hours of prep and three hours of washing up 😛

    Man, I wish pumpkin was more common in the UK. I’d love to buy canned pumpkin, it looks so tasty and easy! And all the blogs are raving about pumpkin right now 😛

    Just got back from the grocery and I bought stuff to make Angela’s (aka Oh She Glows) Creamy Roasted Tomato, Garlic, & Onion Coconut Soup and Roasted Tomato Basil Pesto. I’m pretty excited for these recipes. Basically anything I make of hers is awesome!

    I currently have Mama Pea’s recipe for Spicy African Peanut Stew cooking away in my crockpot. It already smells epic… I can’t wait to eat it with some fresh spinach wilted in it and toasted cheesy bread!

    I have a pot of chicken tortilla soup in the crock pot. Since I live alone it will probably last 5 or 6 meals (or more!) I will probably freeze some of it too.

    Pilot is so cute doing things on his Honey Do list. Or just helping out around the house. In our house, DIY projects are tricky and we never have the right tools (or patience!).

    Glad your house is becoming the family hub/hangout. That’s awesome b/c I know how important your family is to you.

    I have a mound of beets in my fridge from our CSA pick up this week and last week. So, I am oven roasting some, juicing some, and then I think I will make raw beet raviolis for dinner this week. Oh, and just spiralizing one or two for salads. I haven’t had those since last year’s plethora of beets. 😉 In addition to that, we’ll have oven roasted chicken with rice and salad, stuffed spaghetti squash with homemade sauce, and pasta with cashew cream sauce…mmmmm! 🙂 Have a great time with your fam today!!!

    I just did our planning/grocery shopping for the week! On the menu: Scampi Provencale & green beans, chicken fajitas and cheesy turkey burgers with homemade baked oven fries and a salad! yum!

    Pumpkin! This week I plan to have pumpkin breakfast cookies (so good!) and plenty of pumpkin oatmeal. Today I made a butt load of baked tofu with fresh ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Add lettuce, carrots and snow peas and you have one yummy meal!

    Do you like herdez salsa? I’ve had some bad experiences with it…usually it tastes watery.

    So jealous you have Libby’s in stock already! I have 2 hoarded big cans from last year and keep looking for it in the grocery store now but they haven’t stocked up yet 🙁 It could get tragic soon.

    Food wise, I don’t have anything planned for the week yet! I know I want to make my fiancé dinner tomorrow, because he doesn’t have any sessions (he’s a personal trainer), and I like to cook for him when he’s free. Hmmm. I should really be more competent with meal planning. I usually plan my dinners day-of.

    I just moved back to my hometown and I’m hoping for the same thing! I LOVE entertaining and I LOVE LOVE entertaining my family! 🙂

    I am about to go start work on prepping meals for the week – if I don’t do it Sunday, I will never find time during the week and then I will eat all of my lunches at Qdoba…not that there’s anything *wrong* with that, but…you know.

    Your blinds look great! Our house is football central during the Fall as well, just moved in July and we love having guests over. Last night it was family, nice to relax and enjoy some good food and down time.

    I am totally making those oats tomorrow! (last year when I heard there was going to be a shortage I stocked up on the large cans of pumpkin).
    This week I am moving! So I am def planning my meals so that we do not eat out all week (you know that is easier) I have 4 days off of work so that will help! 🙂

    Awe, you’re like my sister (in-law). They love having family over! We usually only cook two meals per week and the rest are fast/easy meals. This week, we having salmon, Ellie Krieger’s Three Bean Chili, and marinating some chicken using a Fajita recipe from Mel’s Kitchen Cafe. 😉

    A smile came to my face when I read your fam came over 🙂 I can honestly understand your excitement that your home is already becoming the “go to” place 😉 So exciting 🙂 I just moved into a new apartment at the end of August and have had friends over for dinner for the past 3 Fridays 🙂 I really want people to feel like they can just come over whenever and really feel comfortable here and just chill with me, so I totally can relate to the excitement you are feeling 🙂 !!

    SO funny…I made almost the same exact oats for lunch today and put cinnamon banana whip on top. SO good. Great minds 😉

    As far as planning meals I usually buy ingredients with certain meals in mind. As far as dinner goes they are usually not too creative…we eat the same things a lot unless I want to try a new recipe! I pretty much have my staples though and that keeps me on track with healthy eating

    for this week’s meal i made some black bean with green bell pepper (one taco nite, or just sprinkle on salad), vegie fried rice, chocolate chip banana bread, peanut brittle (my bf loves em), made overnight oats for tomorrow morning (sneaked in 1 anise in there!), and already ate some braised fennel for dinner! (btw, everything was made today!) i was a cooking machine!

      i hope you love it!
      for the muffins, i use applesauce instead of the pumpkin and nix the cocoa powder. oh, and i cover them with maple syrup and/or almond butter 😉

    I should totally be planning the week’s meals right now, but I just can’t pull myself off the couch. Sometimes the weekends leave me more drained than the work week.

    I just went back to work full-time after an almost two year hiatus hanging with our little dumpling, and before I was in the restaurant business (i.e. working nights), so this whole making and planning lunch and dinner everyday is new to me. I need to develop a system because most days I’m just throwing random items into my lunch box. Friday’s lunch was applesauce, yogurt, half a carton of grape tomatoes, concord grapes, carrots and a cookie dough larabar.

    I used my crockpot this Saturday to make a big batch of black beans and pinto beans. I froze some of those, and I used the rest to make turkey chili. I’ve got about 8 servings of turkey chili to eat at my leisure this week. I took some to my friends who are new parents and they said that it was delicious. I’m happy, since my last batch of chili was just so-so. 🙂
