Back in the Swing of Things

Hi guys! How’s your day been? Hope it’s been bueno Smile Loved reading about the best parts of your weekend!

vino

(Drinking vino at a wine bar with the girls was of the many weekend highlights!)

Michelle and I woke up before the sun to make it to the airport to catch our flights home. It was such an incredible festival, but it always feels good to go home and get back in the swing of things.

On my first flight, I munched a baggie of Pure2Raw flatbreads.

flatbread

(Side note: thumbholes on jackets are awesome)

These flatbreads are SO good. The original plan was to have one flatbread and save the other two for lunch tomorrow but it didn’t work out so well Winking smile I make my own raw flatbreads, but they aren’t the same… and things always taste better when someone else makes it, too Smile

I proceeded to put my eye mask on, and crash out for the entire flight to Denver

On my Denver to Orlando flight, I munched the other half of last night’s Café Gratitude dinner– a macrobiotic bowl with shredded kale, almonds, quinoa, a tahini dressing, sea vegetables and kim chee. It was my first time trying kim chee and I LOVED it- very similar to sauerkraut. Fermented veggies are always ok with me Smile

The original work out art:

macrobiotic bowl

The do-agains were topped with half an avocado that Michelle bought at Saturday’s farmer’s market for us to share. It was HUGE- so creamy and buttery. I die.

avoocado

The second flight was pretty uneventful, but I spent my time planning meals (and new recipes!) for this week, chatting with my airplane seatmates, workout post ideas, and writing my goals down for work.

We’re displaying our framed goals in the store, and I’ve had the hardest time narrowing them down!

I feel like my life wants to take me in a thousand different directions, and trying to prioritize them is so challenging- especially with not-so-minor details like the fact that I have no clue where we’ll be living this time next year Winking smile

Here are some of the things that made it on the list:

-Work to make my little blog more fun and informative, thus increasing readership

-Sign a book contract (still!!! Need to get my new proposal finished and sent out to the world)

-Meditate 30 minutes a day (For now, I’ve been using yoga as my meditation time)

-Open a Dance Trance studio (I’d like to do this the next place we live!)

-Become a Key Leader at work (I’m hoping this one happens supersoon)

-Have a baby (Not supersoon though… you need two people for that game, haha)

Well I’m off to unpack and do laundry and then grocery shop. So excited to COOK again! Smile

See ya in the morning <3

xoxo

Gina

Something to do: Ab burner!

Frog crunch (15)

Bicycle crunch (12 on each side)

Feet up in the air, touch your toes (15)

Hands underneath your hips, lower your legs towards to floor for 10 seconds, up for 5 seconds, down for 8 seconds, up for 3 seconds, down for 4, up for 1 (repeat this 3 times)

Flip over onto your belly and come up into dolphin plank- hold 30 seconds

Sounds like your weekend was fun! I can’t wait for updates on everything – especially the book/baby! LOL 😉

  2. Christin L. on November 8, 2010 at 4:57 pm

Excellent goals! My current goal is to do the best I can in massage therapy school so I can turn into a totally kickass therapist! 🙂

Gina I absolutely love your blog! You’re so real & down to earth, and checking your blog always makes me smile because you’re so upbeat!

I feel like I have too many things going on right now and trying to prioritize is hard… what I think I’m going to do is focus on the most important 3 or 4 things and the rest can wait!

    • Fitnessista on November 8, 2010 at 5:56 pm

that’s a great way to do it- just focus on a few things at a time

  4. Holly @ couchpotatoathlete on November 8, 2010 at 5:06 pm

Gina I think your blog is super fun and informative — but I am ok with you improving it even more 🙂

I totally agree that things taste better when someone else makes them — I think it is the little touches different people put into food.

    • Fitnessista on November 8, 2010 at 5:56 pm

      thank you!
and the fact that you didn’t have to do any work makes it taste better too 🙂

Hi Gina, it was great meeting you this weekend. We talked about not having a Dance Trance studio here in the L.A., well maybe once you own your own studio, you can branch out in the west coast too.

Thanks for being nice and taking the time to chat. Thank you also for the input on honeymoon destination and giving me info about Sandals in Bahamas and having your own butler. I will be looking more into it this week.

    • Fitnessista on November 8, 2010 at 5:55 pm

      hey lea,
it was so awesome to meet you! i loved chatting 🙂 i’m sure you’ll love the bahamas!

Awesome goals! I could totally see you opening a dance trance studio:)

  11. Michelle C on November 8, 2010 at 5:56 pm

On my 21st birthday I cut thumbholes into like 3 of my hodies because “Thumbholes are amazing.” I woke up the next morning and was like “Dude. Why are all my sweatshirts out and why do they all have holes in them?”

Also, I will now hope you and the pilot come to Boston even though there are no bases within an hour of my house. Dance Trance sounds awesome and I can’t find it around here!

  12. Kate on November 8, 2010 at 6:15 pm

Hi Gina, seems like you’ve already reached that goal of making your blog both fun and informative – I just found it and I love it! Keep up the great work.

    Kate 🙂

PS I’m not having a huge hankering for just an avocado, straight up. The best way to eat them I say!!

    • Fitnessista on November 8, 2010 at 10:00 pm

      hey kate!
thank you! and thanks so much for reading my little blog 🙂

Such good goals! I love taking time to write them down. You are such an inspiration!

  15. Susan on November 8, 2010 at 6:58 pm

You know I have been wanting to meditate as well. I have been reading about it and finally watched Eat Pray Love (although I didn’t like it) and realized that I’m missing something by not meditating. I’ll keep myself posted on how it works for you as I am extremely curious!

  16. Mary @ Bites and Bliss on November 8, 2010 at 7:02 pm

Love your goals! I have similar ones that definitely need some attention! 😛

  18. Morgan on November 8, 2010 at 7:32 pm

PLEASE bring Dance Trance to Athens. Us girls at UGA would go crazy for it. You and the pilot should move up here….I think you would fit right in. Athens , GA is a fantastic town.

  19. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine on November 8, 2010 at 7:34 pm

Your blog is already fun and informative- one of the reasons I love it so much!! I know there’s room for improvement in any and every situation though, so good luck taking the bloggy where you want it to go!

Having a baby is on the very top of my life goals list too. Though I think I have a bit longer to wait for that one than you 😉

  20. Lauren on November 8, 2010 at 7:42 pm

Love your goals. This world needs a little fitnessista or little pilot. Let’s get cracking on that one! 😉

    informative!

  28. Jackie on November 8, 2010 at 8:47 pm

Gina — I was wondering if you’d go to Cafe Gratitude. Of course I had never heard of it, but we had this guy on our radio show last weekend whose entire life completely changed just because he randomly walked in there one night. He now made a documentary with some of the waiters.

    http://growingbolder.com/media/entertainment/movies/frank-ferrante-684242.html

We’ll have to keep our eyes open to see if the movie comes to O-town any time soon. Hope to see you at DT soon!

  30. Rebecca on November 8, 2010 at 9:11 pm

I’m not going to lie, I totally thought that was a baggie of something else for a second! I also love jackets with thumbholes, great for running when it’s not cold enough to justify gloves yet. 🙂

  31. Jaclyn on November 8, 2010 at 9:15 pm

Ha funny how those kinds of ‘plans’ ie; eating one of the crackers have a way of falling through when things are just. too. good 😉

Love love your goals – both work and personal – good luck to you, very brave of you to post! Glad you had fun at FB!! I’m jealous – and definitely will be there next year!

  32. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on November 8, 2010 at 10:40 pm

  34. Alissa on November 8, 2010 at 11:07 pm

I also love your blog! It is very informative, and I have gotten many ideas from you to use in my life also. I feel that you will enjoy this as much as I do:

Avocado cut in half, take out the pit. Brush on lightly some olive oil and place flat/cut side down on the grill for about 4 mins. When done put pico in the hole where the pit was, hold it in your hand and eat with a spoon. Amazing!

I love reading your goals…You will be an awesome mommy one day, when ever that happens for you guys 🙂

And the other goals…fun to read! Trance Dance studio…omg that sounds SO FUN!

Meditating 30 mins a day. That would be a great thing to get a handle on before baby comes…haha! I attribute my yoga and meditation practice as the #1 (or very high on the list) of why/how I can stay more sane, grounded, present, and centered as a mom…admist chaos! B/c let’s face it, kids are amazing, but life goes a little chaotic when little ones enter life 🙂
