Blogger friends’ books

Tea 1 of 1 3

Hey! How’s the morning going? Hope you’re having a great one so far <3 I just finished up a morning stretch, an awesome breakfast, and am ready to enjoy the day’s adventures.

I feel inspired with recipes lately. It’s certainly a mixture of a few things: the fall produce (gimme ALL THE SQUASHES), enjoying new dishes, and the fact that I’ve had a couple of awesome new cookbooks to enjoy. New cookbooks always help me to think outside of my usual habits, and they’re an enjoyable way to take down time when you’ve been working on creating your own recipes. It’s comforting to breeze through a recipe knowing that someone else has carefully tested it for you. My two latest faves are even better because they were written by very good friends.

The first one is this PTV: The Part-time Vegetarian Smoothies and Juices, which was written by Tina

PTV 1 of 1

I’ve had the pleasure of hanging out with Tina quite a few times, and she’s become one of my closest blogging buddies. (I still haven’t met Murphy though, and am borderline obsessed with that pug cuteness.) Tina is also a new mama, a CrossFitter, and writes an awesome blog if you haven’t checked it out.

With tina 1 of 1

To write this book, she had to create and test over 140 smoothie recipes in two months (!!!!). When I received my copy, I was amazed by how beautifully it came together. Not only are the recipes incredibly creative (so fresh and vibrant!), but the full-page color photos are gorgeous. There are so many awesome smoothie and juice combos in here, and it’s really encouraged me to step out of the usual rotation. I tend to make the same smoothies and juices over and over, and for the past few weeks, I’ve been using quite a few of Tina’s amazing recipes.

Another cookbook that I was particularly excited about: Seriously Delish by Jessica.

Seriously delish 1 of 1

Ok, so I’ve never met Jess in real life (sad face), but we’ve been blog friends since the early days. I’m also convinced that she’s the Pilot’s dream wife. I read him some of the titles of her blog post recipes, and he walked to the kitchen to get a bowl of cereal with a trail of drool on the floor behind him. Needless to say, her recipes always go well in our household 😉 In pure Jess fashion, the cookbook pages are filled with beautiful photos and unique recipes. There’s a beautiful mix of indulgent and healthy options; I love that everything is made from scratch.

Chewy granola bars 1 of 1

A huge hit: these chewy granola bars. They’re a medley of oats, pumpkin seeds, flax, sunflower seeds, chia, honey…

and for her first bar, Liv was walking around the house saying “Mmmmm. Mmmm! Mmm. Mmmm!”

Here’s the thing: the PR reps sent me copies of these cookbooks, and I had already ordered both on Amazon. So, I’d love to give them to one of you! Just leave a comment below with something that’s inspiring to you, or your favorite cookbook ever, and I’ll pick a winner this Thursday midnight EST. I’ll send both of these cookbooks to the winner, along with whatever goodies find their way into the box 😉

xoxo

Gina

Fall always inspires me. Living in South Florida the summers are hot, so once the temps start to break a little bit I just want to spend all my time outside!!

I love reading new cookbooks. It really helps to get out of a cooking rut which I am in now! We have had way too many lentil vegetable soup nights. The smoothies will help keep breakfasts interesting 🙂

Lately, I’m inspiring myself! I’m single, a dog momma (x 2), and a graduate student. AND…I just bought my first house and will be running my first 1/2 marathon in November! I have exactly two cookbooks and I’d love to have a shelf-full in my new place!!

Things that inspire me – kids. I don’t have any of my own but I work with them in youth group and when they’re always asking me to make them Jamaican food. Or they’ll remember something I made before and they’ll ask before an event, are you going to make us — again?”

I really love my Well Fed cookbook as well as Practical Paleo! I never understood why anybody would purchase a cookbook when there are a billion recipes online, but then someone bought me one and I loved it 🙂

  10. Lisa on September 25, 2014 at 9:27 am

I love cookbooks. I’ll seriously try any granola bar recipe, and lucky me, I’ve got tons of co-workers that are willing to eat my recipe experiments. I read Tina’s blog regularly and recently purchased a fancy blender! I’d love to win both of these cookbooks for my collection.

I love all of the Pioneer Woman cookbooks – her recipes are always crowd-pleasers. I also have Angela’s Oh She Glows cookbook and need to dive into that one!

Even though there are so many recipes online through blogs and pinterest, it’s not the same as having the hard copy beautifully bound in the flesh. I’ve been buying more ebooks than cookbooks lately so I would love to have a new hardcopy cookbook!

Cookbooks are my gateway drug. Bobby Flay’s Burgers, Fries and Shakes is a fave.

I LOVE cookbooks! I read through them like novels! I’ve recently been reading and trying out recipes from the Weelicious cookbook since I have a picky toddler on my hands. It looks like both of these would give me some new ideas for her!

  17. Vicky on September 25, 2014 at 12:02 pm

I am obsessed with pinterest. That seems to be where I get most of my recipes from lately. The pumpkin and matcha green tes recipes are endless.

  18. Taylor A. on September 25, 2014 at 12:14 pm

I am seriously lacking some good cookbooks! I usually look up recipes a lot online (via Pinterest mostly).

Currently, whats inspiring me is myself! I am on day 6 of Whole30 and have really impressed myself with the amount of food prep and planning ahead that I’m getting better at. Also, with how great I feel so far and how strong I’ve felt in the face of temptation.

I love all of Ina Garten’s cookbooks- so fun to cook from but also just to read!
    Thanks for a great giveaway!

Lately, music has been inspiring me. I played the piano growing up, and recently have been getting back into it. I love it so much, and it is an incredible outlet for me!

  25. Maggie on September 25, 2014 at 2:53 pm

Favorite cookbook is easily “How to Cook Everything” by Mark Bittman. If I have a random vegetable I can always find a use for it somewhere in that book!

  26. Amy on September 25, 2014 at 3:10 pm

I’m inspired by daughter who is keeping up with her first few weeks of high school even though she has been sick with mono! I would love either of those cookbooks – I am a fan of both of their blogs. : )

Cooler temperatures and the autumn season always inspires me. Growing up in San Diego, though, I had to wait until well into November to get the cooler temperatures, so I also try to be inspired by the local weather.

  37. Abby on September 25, 2014 at 5:38 pm

You have inspired me.. A yr ago I was living in Pennsylvania debating on the major life choice of moving to California. I was inspired to move after following your blog for years and I’m loving. Every minute !

  38. Meredith on September 25, 2014 at 6:33 pm

One of my favorite cookbooks is the one my mom created for me (and my sister) a few years back for Christmas. It’s filled with family favorite recipes – everything from my Great Nana Lupe’s Mexican Wedding Chocolate to these sausage-and-cheese-balls-of-heaven we call Hot Yummies. The best part is she left plenty of room for us to add new favorites. Would love to get my hands on these new cookbooks so I can introduce everyone to some new dishes!

  39. Traci on September 25, 2014 at 7:06 pm

Ah! Both of these look amazing. I find so many recipes online through blogs, websites, or Pinterest, but I have to say there is still something about a dog-eared cookbook full of beautiful photography I can prop up right on the counter. I’ve been loving the Against All Grain and Make Ahead Paleo cookbooks lately. I’m not paleo, but I make a lot of similar meals and they are both great.

  40. Jodie on September 25, 2014 at 7:17 pm

I am really enjoying Gywneth Paltrow book It’s all good.

    Those bars look awesome!!

Healthy test kitchen is my favorite. These both look great!

  44. courtney b on September 25, 2014 at 8:42 pm

My favorite cookbook is the Joy of cooking one my husband got me for our first anniversary!

  45. Ariane on September 25, 2014 at 9:29 pm

This may be a bit surprising, but Instagram inspires me for recipes! I have a whole shelf full of cookbooks and almost never use them, but seeing a picture of food inspires me to try to recreate it. Sometimes I’ll follow a link or google a recipe but most of the time I’ll just try on my own and it almost always turns out delicious! I’d love to have these two cookbooks though, they look amazing!

  46. Melissa on September 25, 2014 at 10:39 pm

I love cookbooks! My favourite is Chef at Home, from the Food Network TV show. Everything Michael Smith makes is so simple yet amaaaazing!

  47. Alicia on September 25, 2014 at 10:41 pm

    I am inspired by blogs!

  48. Erika on September 25, 2014 at 10:52 pm

I love the cookbooks some of the bloggers out there have done – I just purchased Oh SHe Glows cookbook and it is amazing. I love the idea of fresh and healthy – this time of year I do lots of smoothies – well, I do smoothies but am always doing the same ones, so these would be awesome to mix it up and still keep the eats healthy and fresh! Awesome!!!!

  49. Tara | Treble in the Kitchen on September 25, 2014 at 11:11 pm

I think both of those blogs and cookbooks are amazing! Well, I am just guessing the cookbooks are 🙂 Anyways, I would love to win a copy 🙂
