Clean with Journey

Heyyyy 😀 Happy humpday! Hope you’re having a wonderful day.

I had a fueling and filling bfast before starting the day’s insanity.

bfast

2 egg whites with a package of organic steamed broccoli, sautéed with onions, garlic and topped with red chili pepper flakes

egg

And 1/2 cup oats cooked in water with banana, vanilla and lots of cinnamon

oats

It was pretty face-rocking and felt super satisfied and ready to clean the casa, since I *haaaaate* leaving for vacay with a less-than-sparkling house.

Pandora’s Don’t Stop Believlin’ channel gave me some sweet 80s classics to rock out to 😉

pandora

Lurve. I may or may not have busted out some dance moves 😉

I met Jeni at the gym for some legs (we did about 45 minutes of lunges, hamstring curls, calf raises, weighted plie squats and leg extensions) and then came home for a light green protein smoothie

sludge

1 cup almond milk, 1 scoop vanilla Sun Warrior and 1/2 t of spirulina

I took the puppers on a walk, did some laundry, trained a client and then it was lonchi time.

Enter the beast:

beast

This salad beast was my dream come true.

-spinach

-tomatoes

-bell pepper

-raw bloomin’ onion bread

-onions

-balsamic

-raw goat cheddar

-sea salt

-pepper

-chili flakes

-foodgasms

Ahhhhhmazing!

I went back to the gym for another training appointment and am about to get ready for Zumba and pilates. Flight medicine called back with my blood test results from yesterday- everything is excellent 8) I got the blood tests taken because I wanted to make sure I wasn’t deficient in anything and to check my blood type, cholesterol and all that mumbo jumbo. They said I wasn’t deficient in anything (which didn’t surprise me because I stuff my face with fruits and veggies all the livelong day) and that my triglycerides, LDL, HDL, CDC were all above the “good” ranges (my bad cholesterol was 60, when below 130 is good and triglycerides were 45 when below 150 is good). Wahooo! I feel triumphant, like I got a good health report card or something, haha.

Well I’m out like sauerkraut!

-Pilates

-Zumba

-Training sesh

-Targizzle for my beloved eyeliner

Praying the pilot surprises me with Indian takeout, since I’m not cooking tonight 😉

Have a great day <3

xoxo,

Gina

Something to talk about: Are you more of a weights lover or cardio fanatic?? I used to be a cardio-only girl (back in the hardcore dancing days), but fell in love with weight training once I started to get into it. It fascinated me that weight training helped to change the appearance of my body, but also made me a stronger and better dancer. Now, I love both, but I could still do cardio all day 🙂 Days like today (legs day!), I still need a little push to weight train instead of sticking to cardio, but the results are way worth it.

Random question: What brands of oats do you use? Your pictures always look better than the oats I use (and don’t taste too hot….). Thanks!

I love weight training! When I added weights to my workout a few years back, that’s when I really started to see my body change and the weight come off. Plus, I just love how strong it makes me feel!

I love weight training! But I also love pilates and yoga. Not so much cardio but every once in a while I’ll go for it.

I said Targizzle the other day. My boyfriend just shook his head at me.

I hate cardio… and LOVE weight training. I could do bicep curls all day!! not kidding = )

Lurve, lurve, LURVE the weights! It makes me feel so zen after a heavy lifting session!
I still like cardio, but I find it more of a chore (especially now that I am not running because of my injury) than weights. They make me feel powerful and sexy, and my DH loves that I’m the only woman in the free weight area of our gym, hefting the big weights! LOL

Hurray for the great blood test results! I am not getting a blood test next week, but saliva and urine (ew). Fingers crossed that I get back good results too 🙂

I am 100% a weights girl. I used to do endless cardio in addition to weights and never saw major changes. Once I backed off the cardio and focused on weights, everything changed. Now I just do enough cardio to keep my heart healthy (and still challenge myself with it). But weights are where it’s at — as heavy as I can go safely! Muscles are sexy 😉

I love Journey too (saw them in concert in high school)!! My sister saw Steve Perry at a restaurant in San Francisco a while back.
I think I like weights and cardio about the same. I just like to shake it up and not do the same thing all the time. It doesn’t bother me about others at the gym b/c everyones there for the same reason. I admire anyone who gets in there –heavy, short, pretty, skinny, ugly, tall– it doesn’t matter.

There is nothing worse than coming home to a dirty house! I’ve met Journey! I have connections 😉

Woohoo for being healthy! I’m a weights girl, for sure. I really don’t like getting all sweaty but I love feeling strong!

I use to be a total Cardio addict. Then my husband (boyfriend at the time) introduce me to weights to tone up after I had lost some weight. Now I’m about 60% cardio/40% weights. Mentally I still struggle with doing less cardio but it is getting easier since I have seen results. I just started doing more yoga which is incredible difficult for my upper body, but I love the challenge.

I hate all exercise, I’ll be honest. If I can walk the dogs daily, I’m doing good.

I love Pandora. I don’t know how you get it on your tv, though– is there a computer hookup like through xbox or wii?

  14. Carolyn on January 7, 2010 at 1:29 pm

I love weight training and HATE cardio.

  15. MySensei on January 7, 2010 at 2:15 pm

Love love looove Journey 🙂 That’s got to be the best way to clean!!

  16. miriam on January 7, 2010 at 2:52 pm

I prefer cardio over weight training… but I like weight training. Meaning that if I only have less than an hour to train, I will do cardio only (and maybe some abs) but no weight. The reason is that cardio feel more satisfying for me, like I did accomplish something, especially running. Weight training leave me feeling stronger. Both makes me more confident about life and myself. 🙂 PS : I always clean the house while listening to music and dancing with the dog (who is use to it!) sometimes I just sing and change the lyrics in order to fit my dog’s name in it and all the words that she knows (like eating, going outside, names that she knows) (so funny the look on her face!) lol Yeah… I am crazy! 😉

    • Fitnessista on January 7, 2010 at 2:55 pm

hahaha YES! we do the same thing! i thought we were insane but i guess it’s more common that i thought
we put the dogs names in everything… like when heartless by kanye was popular it was “how could you be so viesa?” haha

  17. Jenny on January 7, 2010 at 5:40 pm

I always clean before leaving on trips! It’s so nice to come back to a clean house 🙂

I have really started to LOVE strength training lately. Cardio is fun, but I love the “drive” you feel when lifting weights.

  18. Teri on January 8, 2010 at 1:09 pm

I used to be a cardio junkie, big time! I love to run and I thought running would build enough muscle to keep me balanced. Never mind the fact that I was always injured! I started teaching a group ex weight lifting class last year so I increased my strength training and now I’m addicted. 3x a week! I’ve seen so many changes to my body since I’ve upped my weight training – and a lot of it was inspired by you and your workouts that you post.

    Happy weekend!
