Cookie Alarm Clock

Good morning! How are ya? Hope you’re having a great day so far 🙂

I started mine with a Fitnessista bfast cookie:

cooookie

(1/3 C oats, 1/2 T almond butter, 1/2 nanner, 1 T carob, 1 T brown rice protein, almond milk, cinnamon, Stevia, pinch sea salt, topped with mesquite)

It’s so nice to wake up and know breakfast is waiting for you 😀

Next, the puppers and I went on a lovely walk –fall weather is officially here!- and I came back for some tea:

greentea

And the queen returned to her throne:

lareina

Since I don’t have a lot of foodie pics for ya right night –I could stuff my face quickly and take some pictures but decided against it- so I figured I’d show you the supplements I take every day.

A probiotic, as I don’t consume cow’s dairy and only get probiotics through goat cheese or kombucha

acidophilus

And a multi-vitamin from Trader Joe’s:

multi

I have prenatal vitamins that have been waiting for me on base for about six months, but I’ve just been too lazy to pick them up 😀 No, the pilot and I aren’t planning on little Fitnessistas and Pilots anytime soon, but it’s a good idea to start taking prenatal vitamins a year or two before you plan to uh, get started 😉

Here’s the plan for the day:

-make hummus, artichoke dip, chocolate mousse, and chocolate drizzle for tomorrow

-cut all the veggies

-yoga (60 minutes)

-post office

-practice Zumba dances

-teach Zumba

-training appts

I’m out!

xoxo,

G$

Wow, your busy today! Lovely breakfast cookie 🙂

  2. Pam on November 2, 2009 at 9:06 am

Those are really good probiotics…we have taken that brand also! The vitamins we take are raw from Jordin Rubin’s Garden of Life products. Have you heard of them?

Your little queen is so cute!

    Enjoy!

    • Fitnessista on November 2, 2009 at 9:16 am

i haven’t heard of those.. i’ll have to check it out!

Holy mesquite on your bfast cookie! Have a wonderful day. 🙂

    • Fitnessista on November 2, 2009 at 9:15 am

hahah yes, i tend to get a little over-zealous with the mesquite 😉

  4. Paige (Running Around Normal) on November 2, 2009 at 9:07 am

Busy day today! How do you like TJ multi? I’ve been looking for a good one to take.

    • Fitnessista on November 2, 2009 at 9:12 am

i love the TJs multi.. that, or the whole foods plant-based women’s multi are the only ones i’ll take

  5. chocolate-covered Katie on November 2, 2009 at 9:22 am

Ok, I seriously need to try this mesquite. What does it taste like?
Do you find it at Whole Foods? Mine didn’t have it…
Sorry for all the questions; I just keep seeing you eat it, so you’ve gotten me curious!

    Have a loverrrly day 🙂

    • Fitnessista on November 2, 2009 at 9:29 am

      hi katie!
it has a sweet nutty taste and is perfect with almond butter and banana combos 😀
i got it at the health food store, but i think you can find it at whole foods. navitas natural makes it and you could order online if you can’t find it– i think you’d love it!

  6. Diana on November 2, 2009 at 9:39 am

Busy day eh? That’s good 🙂
I’m really curious about those breakfast cookies 😛
    Have a great day!

Aw the queen on her throne is so adorable. I should start taking prenatals too. I don’t want any babies now but eventually! And prenatals make your hair grow like crazy! 🙂

love when breaky is waiting for me!

I have to say, when I see “prenatal vitamins” in a sentence, I get a little too excited 🙂

Love the breakfast cookie. Have a good day!

  10. katherine on November 2, 2009 at 10:41 am

Sounds like a busy but wonderful day! I, too, take prenatal vitamins – can’t get started too early on getting your body to be as healthy as possible!

  11. Jacqueline on November 2, 2009 at 10:49 am

It’s funny because I just read a few other blogs and they all had The Fitnessista Breakfast Cookie too! Great minds think alike.
    Enjoy the fall weather!

  12. Cyn Marie on November 2, 2009 at 10:52 am

I like the new(?) newsworthy section! Although, the more I think about it, it may not be new, but just not seen in a while?

Anywho, your days sounds wonderful! I am going to try to make one of your breakfast cookies this week with some pumpkin, hopefully it is as easy as it seems to be.

    • Fitnessista on November 2, 2009 at 11:10 am

haha yes it’s new- just threw that in there today 😉

  13. fittingbackin on November 2, 2009 at 10:53 am

Love your busy days – you’re so inspiring – I haven’t left the couch yet- eek! Your cookie looks awesome, too – and interesting about the prenatal vitamins- new info for me!

  14. Katie on November 2, 2009 at 10:55 am

Must make a cookie for breakfast! My breakfasts are not keeping me full. I take triple flex, calcium and a multivitamin. I don’t eat dairy at all should I be taking a probiotic?

    • Fitnessista on November 2, 2009 at 11:10 am

      yes yes yes!!!!

  15. Janna (Just Flourishing) on November 2, 2009 at 11:04 am

Echoing the crowd – I need to make one of those bfast cookies! Seriously!

I’m always a bit skeptical about multivitamins/supplements. I don’t take any now, but I have very similar diet to you. Hm, maybe I shall do some research on it.

  16. Sarah @ The Foodie Diaries on November 2, 2009 at 11:08 am

You’ve sold me! I need a bfast cookie!!!!

  17. mary ann on November 2, 2009 at 11:34 am

I also use those probiotics (but in blueberry!!!mmmm) They work wonders on my funky digestion. Also… this is going to sound really dumb from a fellow foodie… but what’s mesquite? My first thought was like that liquid smoke stuff, but I notice you use it on oatmeal. Is it sweet or savory? Dumb question, maybe ill just go look it up on wikipedia now.. hahaha

    I take probiotics, too.

And I need to whip up another breakfast cookie soon! 😀

  19. Diane on November 2, 2009 at 12:00 pm

Thanks for the info about probiotics! I’m not fully vegan but I avoid dairy whenever possible, so I’m definitely going to look into that. Also those vitamins from TJ’s are great but I could never a) smell them or b) take them without gagging, so I had to switch haha.

Have a great, productive day!! xo

The names on the TJs stuff always crack me up. Like Trader Giotto’s for the Italian food and Trader Darwin vitamins for survival of the fittest?! I giggled when I read that, and it’s def amusing enough that that will be my next multivitamin purchase!

  21. Kris | Iheartwellness.com on November 2, 2009 at 12:34 pm

Happy Monday! I learn something new everyday on all the blogs I read – I had no idea its a good idea to take prenatal vits a year or 2 before. Interesting! I am so torn with vits – do I take them or should I be getting all my nutrients from my foods? Hmmmmm.
PS. This morning glory cookie is something special today!

    • Fitnessista on November 2, 2009 at 12:53 pm

      hey kris,
you don’t *need* a multivitamin, especially if you eat well, but it’s just good insurance that you’re getting all your nutrients!

  22. Diana (Soap & Chocolate) on November 2, 2009 at 12:39 pm

I’m still years (like more than 2) away from babies, but that’s an interesting factoid about the prenatals. I was under the impression that women started taking them when they learn they’re preggers. I stand corrected! PS I’m in love with your snowman mug from a post or two ago. 🙂

  23. Mandee Lei on November 2, 2009 at 12:42 pm

That sweet potato hash sounds so good!! I have all of the ingredients at home so I know what I will be making tonight for dinner :]

  24. rhodeygirl on November 2, 2009 at 3:11 pm

We need another Zumba video like the one you did last year!

  25. erin on November 2, 2009 at 3:16 pm

    Hi, Gina,

In an effort to research, read and teach myself about raw foods I stumbled upon your website. I’m a spinning instructor/foodie wannabe (I made a darned-near perfect imitation of Lara Jocalat flavor last week) on the side of my 9-5. I don’t get to read your blog daily, but enjoy it when I have time.

I found the following and thought it might be of interest to you – if you haven’t encountered it to date: http://www.womenshealthmag.com/health/want-to-post-your-blog-on-womens-health.

Toying with the idea of a blog, but so far there isn’t enough time 🙁 I’ll continue to learn from the community you’ve fostered on your site!

    Cheers!

That breakfast cookie looks perfect! I wish I had one right now!

  27. K on November 2, 2009 at 4:56 pm

I’ve heard prenatal vitamins are really good for your hair. Don’t know if that’s true but I’ve always contemplated buying them just to see!

    Bella’s thrown is hilarious – it’s HUGE! Fit for a Queen 🙂

  28. thatlactoseignantgirl on November 2, 2009 at 5:16 pm

    fitnessista!
i just tried one of your bf cookies last night (i know, it’s a bf cookie), but it just looked so good as a late-night snack 🙂 IT WAS DELISHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! thank you for the wonderful recipe, it will be used again in the future…

    ciao bella 🙂

  29. Stacey Kaniewski on November 2, 2009 at 11:57 pm

The breakfast cookie looks delish! I hope to make one this week for the first time. Could you please let me know the nutritional info for the basic recipe? I know it depends on what you put in it, but I would like a general idea. New to your site via OSG site and have found it very interesting. Lots of good info. Thanks!

    • Fitnessista on November 3, 2009 at 12:22 pm

      hey stacey,
i used to know, but since i’ve changed the ingredients (PB to AB, milk to almond milk, etc) i’m not exactly sure. i know the one i usually make has around 300-350 calories, but not sure about the carbs, fat, protein, etc. if you send me the ratios you use, i’d be happy to calculate it for you!
