Doubly Fun Lunch

Hi guys! How’s your day been? <3 Thanks for the sweet words about Vieserton- I was a little (lot) shaken up last night, but she’s totally fine now.

Guess who I had lunch with today?? 😀

IMG00349-20100930-1504

My twinnie friends 🙂

I was so excited when Lori and Michelle told me they’d be in town this weekend! I hadn’t seen them since the one night they stayed with us in Valdizzy. Michelle and I have been good friends since we went to 105degrees together last fall and I couldn’t wait to see the girls again 🙂

We met at Ethos Vegan Kitchen for lunch- a vegan soy-free gluten-free friendly restaurant in Orlando. I’ve been wanting to try Ethos for quite some time and was anxious to see if if it lived up to my expectations.

Note: All pictures were taken via the crackberry. I remembered my DSLR but am a giant goober and forgot that the memory was still in my computer! Oops :/

IMG00351-20100930-1525

I started with a small Ethos garden salad– a mix of veggies with artichoke hearts, broccoli, sprouts, tomatoes, carrots, etc with an orange-ginger vinaigrette

IMG00347-20100930-1438

(That was after I had already tousled it with my fork and removed the sprouts and onions)

The salad was ok. I’ll try another dressing next time because the orange-ginger was pretty watery

The star of the show was THIS:

IMG00346-20100930-1438

A soy-free black bean burger with no bread and a side of veggies. The burger was no kidding the size of my head….. and I didn’t give it a chance- it was demolished 😉

The food at Ethos was pretty good- nothing too crazy amazing, but the best part by far was gabbing and catching up with the girls.

IMG00350-20100930-1504 IMG00348-20100930-1504

They leave on Sunday, so I know we’ll get in a yoga class and/or vino night while they’re here, too 🙂

I’m off to run an errand and then head to Dance Trance.

Have a lovely night!

xoxo,

Gina

Sara Hope is such a beautiful name!

As for my weekend workout plans… I’ve sadly given up on workouts this week, I don’t know whats gotten into me. Other then a zumba tape I’ve not been motivated to do anything. I’m going to try & go out for a run Sunday morning I think!

    That burger looks massive 🙂

Weekend workout plans: 10 mile race on Sunday that I am not prepared for (decided to take a break from running and gave my race number to a friend — my friend is unable to run for me so I’m back in the race). I’m ready to walk the whole thing if I have to.

Fashion friday request — maybe fall jackets?

  18. Tina on September 30, 2010 at 7:46 pm

I love meeting up with blog friends. They really get you. 🙂

And oh man, I have left the memory card in the computer too many times. So frustrating!

  19. RhodeyGirl on September 30, 2010 at 7:47 pm

    So fun! I’m jealous.

You know, when I read what happened with Viesa you being shaken up never crossed my mind. All I could think about is how you were a Fitnessista hero and how I hoped I would do the same!

  20. Krystina on September 30, 2010 at 7:56 pm

You should go to Ethos for brunch; their pancakes are pretty bueno. 😀

  21. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine on September 30, 2010 at 7:56 pm

  25. Erin on September 30, 2010 at 8:31 pm

  26. Katie on September 30, 2010 at 8:31 pm

    Beautiful ladies! 🙂

I’m going to do Urban Iron, Spinning, and Bikram!

  27. Mi-An Dela Cruz on September 30, 2010 at 8:53 pm

Fashion Friday?? since we’re going into fall…how about hats, scarves, and someone said layering…

  28. Caitlin (EatFeats) on September 30, 2010 at 8:54 pm

Black bean burgers are my favorite alternative burger. Chili’s surprisingly has a pretty good one, and I think it is because the sear it so the outside gets all crispy.

  29. Natalie on September 30, 2010 at 9:19 pm

I’m teaching kickboxing on Saturday and have a long run planned for Sunday! I’d love to see a fashion Friday on boots.

  30. Suzanne on September 30, 2010 at 9:42 pm

For Fashion Friday, I would like to resubmit my request to see headbands. I also wouldn’t mind your soliciting your readers’ advice as to whether a headband can be part of a “professional” ensemble. Some say no headbands, ever, in the work place (think I wear a suit-type office). I think it’d be okay, but I would like others to confirm this 🙂 In the event that they aren’t categorically inappropriate, perhaps some readers have dressy headband options to share. If the vote is that they are inappropriate, then who cares, I still want to see some fun and funky headbands. I have a fetish. Who wants to blowdry? (no one) Who wants to sleep in extra? (exactly)

Also, not to pester (you must read that and think “too late”, haha, but have you had a chance to ask the Pilot about “Once an Eagle,” the military novel I referenced last week?

Finally, as far as Reader’s Request on the fitness front goes, I would love to see a post about gym workouts with partners (to this end, I note that your link to fall fitness fun dates was much appreciated, but I mean for more of an iron-sluggin type thang). A corollary of this request would be to ask how you’d handle differences in gym buddies fitness levels. How to accommodate and so forth. How can each person get achieve his or her personal best, while still being able to kick it with a pal and not seem like a be-otch only interested in his or her own workout.

Pretty pretty please with an almond butter covered macroon on top?

  31. Rachel on September 30, 2010 at 9:43 pm

Fashion Friday about boots!!! I keep seeing these knee high boots everywhere. How do I pull that look off?

  32. kelli on September 30, 2010 at 10:02 pm

wow, you’re gorgeous! all you ladies are!

  33. Brittany on September 30, 2010 at 10:37 pm

What a fun lunch date – I love Michelle and Lori!

  34. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on September 30, 2010 at 10:38 pm

Congrats on Sara Hope!!!!!! What an amazing blessing and I know this is totally random but the lactation educator in me wants every woman/baby dyad to succeed at breastfeeding and if new mama has any questions whatsoever, day or night, feel free to give her my email and she can email me and I will do my best to help. New nursing = not always “natural” and so if she needs help, holler!

The Pure Girls are two of the sweetest girls in the sphere and I would love to meet them, and you, one day! They’ve had so much going on in their lives too the last little bit so i’m sure it was great for them to be out with you, and for you to see them.

The restaurant looks….stellar. Wow! I am so impressed by Orlando’s foodie scene!

    🙂

  35. Chelsea on September 30, 2010 at 10:50 pm

Ahh Sara Hope is a beautiful name! So cute. Workout plans include probably one strength training session and one cardio session..and of course: hitting up the dance floor. The ultimate cardio workout.

  36. Moni'sMeals on September 30, 2010 at 11:53 pm

I am all over that Black Bean burger!
Lovely news on Sara Hope-great name btw. 🙂

  37. Erin on October 1, 2010 at 1:59 am

I request cute workout clothes on a budget! I love Lululemon but can’t afford to be spending $90 on a pair of workout pants. Any other suggestions? Also I’m looking for really cute workout tops. Thanks!

  38. Little Bookworm on October 1, 2010 at 4:28 am

Yay for a meet up with the twins. 🙂 That black bean burger looks amazing, and congratulations on the new baby cousin!

  39. Salah@myhealthiestlifestyle on October 1, 2010 at 6:39 am

  40. Joelle (The Pancake Girl) on October 1, 2010 at 7:23 am

    YAY for newborn babies!

I am glad you seem to be doing so well in orlando! I’m STILL adjusting to D.C. living, and I moved here more than 6 months ago.. takes time I suppose!

  41. Erika @ Food, Fitness, & Fun on October 1, 2010 at 7:23 am

Mmmm…black bean burgers! They are my favorite type of meat-less burger. Looks like you had a great time! 🙂

  42. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on October 1, 2010 at 7:41 am

Aww congrats on your new cousin! That’s a pretty name.

Dang that is a huge black bean burger! Definitely like a vegan version of a steak! 😛

  43. jenna on October 1, 2010 at 8:49 am

i can’t even imagine how upset you were about what happened with viesa. that is scary! your pets are like children, ya know…i couldn’t even imagine having to do that to Ava. SCARY!

your twinnies are so pretty 🙂 i hope you all had a fun night!!

  44. Kari on October 1, 2010 at 9:01 am

For Fashion Friday, how about “outerwear”, like trenches, winter jackets, sweaters, etc. I guess you don’t really need them where you are, but us Canada folks wear this kind of thing :). What coats to pair with what outfit, best running jackets, warmup, yoga jackets/hoodies etc.

  45. Erin @ A Girl & Her Mutt on October 1, 2010 at 9:45 am

I love having friends who are twins. I’m fascinated by them. Seriously!

I’m on board with the hats request too. 🙂

  46. CaSaundra on October 1, 2010 at 10:20 am

  48. Shelby on October 1, 2010 at 12:29 pm

That burger looks so delicious! I don’t know why but I always think oversized food will be 10x more amazing than it’s normal size haha

  49. Clare @ Fitting It All In on October 1, 2010 at 1:53 pm

Weekend workout plans = up in the air. I’m visiting my boyfriend in FL and he said that the area he lives in is not quite safe for my 8 mile training run. We’ll probably hit up the gym tomorrow to sweat out a hangover though:)

LOVE your 10 year plan! Your life sounds absolutely perfect…now make it happen!

  50. Lisa on October 1, 2010 at 2:19 pm

I need to make a pumpkin pie smoothie! I have been seeing those everywhere! =)
